so here we go, here's a little know adventure game that never got made that not a lot of people prolly remember or know about...
enjoy and discuss mayhaps (http://sylpher.com/kafka/warcraft/wc.htm)
eric
ah well i guess doing a search online (http://www.gamespot.com/features/pcgraveyard/p3_01.html) woulda helped but anyways
I remember this and was sooo excited but then it seemed to disapear
I think they released the opening sequence too
wow that is so supercool!!!!
I'm a warcraft fan.
I need to play this... somehow!
Thanks for the information Eric :)
It's funny, if you look at a "canned games" section of ANY PC magazine this game ALWAYS makes it. It would've been cool if they'd finished it.
Purr, I was so looking forward to that game after reading about it in the UK PC Gamer.
Opened my mouth without reading the facts, guys..
Sorry :-p
Still a shame they ditched it.
LGM, the interview with the producer says nothing like that though... A shame it didn't come out but I somehow have too agree with what he says.
yea lgm that has nothing to do with it being cancelled
they stopped it because it was a terrible burden, they had never done a game like that before, they had to learn it all, the work was split up over thousands of miles [animation being done in russia] and they didn't think it lived up to the blizzard name.
I still have some promotional junk with previews for that.
Don't know why, but it never really interested me.
Oh, I remember seeing some screens in some older local PC magazine, but then i thought, it has nice graphics, and why isnt this so popular, i guess i didnt know it got cancelled...
I had that PC Gamer with the "greatest games never made" and I remember WarCraft adventures. I was looking forward to it...
there's a trailer to it in my warcraft 2 cd, I always assumed they finished it because Thrall made an appearance in warcraft 3, and when I read the manual it mentioned thrall's story; I just said "Ahh, must be from that adventure game thingy"
pity,
maybe they needed Chris Jones to program an engine for them eh?
and if I remember my geography trivia, Russia's only 30km away from Alaska, thousands of miles my ass ;)
heh, I don't think the engine was the problem Dmi :)
I always assumed this game was a hoax all along...
I can't quite manage a REASON they'd hoax it up... perhaps to keep interest in their game between interations?
I'm convinced most games that get "canned" are just hoaxes. Why would it be that all the best games never get made? They MUST be hoaxes.
Oh man, when this game was announced, I was still a hardcore gamer. I can't even tell you how excited I was for it. My two favorite genres of all time are (and were) adventure first and strategy second, so the announcement of a game in a genre I loved and a world I loved was almost too good to be true (which it eventually was). I was so frustrated when they canned it. Curse you, Blizzard! You destroyed my hopes and dreams!
