I don't understand some things in the story of Trilby's Notes. I searched some for an appropriate topic to ask, but didn't find, so I decided to make one.

so... I write here what I figured out, and please correct me where I am wrong.

Spoiler alert!!

In 1501, there was a druid, Cabbadath, who could make connection between the "world of technology" and the "world of magic". When intruders came to Cabbadath's land, he summoned a pain elemental named Chzo, because he thought he can control him and order him to kill the intruders. But Chzo was too powerful and he "grabbed" Cabbadath.
Here comes a part what I don't really understand. Why Chzo made a tree from Cabbadath? Probably because he feed with pain and he wanted Cabbadath to leave forever in pain?
Okay, so Cabbadath slowly lost his consciousness and he became Chzo's slave, the evil "Tall Man", who IS the tree, or his soul is in the tree, or something like that. The Tall Man can appear only once a year, in his anniversary.
Later a woodcutter came, and cut the tree. Then, the Tall Man appeared, and executed the woodcutter, but he didn't hurt the young boy.

Some years later, somebody used that wood to build an inn. The Tall Man appeared in the inn, and killed the innkeeper, and later the innkeeper's son. The Tall Man also killed a guest, who witnessed the innkeeper's dieing.

Later, somebody used the wood of the inn to make a harpischord. A man named Freehorn, who interested in occultism, bought that harpischord. Soon the Tall Man appeared to kill him, but Freehorn begged for his life and the Tall Man left him alive. Later, Freehorn founded a cult for Chzo.

Meanwhile somebody crashed the harpischord and made a crate from its wood. Then an african slave carved an idol from the wood of that crate. After he finished, the Tall Man appeared and executed everybody on the ship.

So finally we are here, we have an idol, what made from the tree what created by Chzo, from Cabbadath, after he grabbed him. DeFoe found the idol on the ship, and bring home. Accidentaly, he used that idol to beat his unwanted "retarded" son, John DeFoe. When he beated John with the idol, John's spirit transferred into the idol.
Inside the idol, the Tall Man gave power to John's spirit to go out and kill anybody he wants.

In 5Days, we saw John roaming in the DeFoe manor, trap and kill people. Trilby managed to transfer John's soul to his old remains and destroy him. The DeFoe manor burned down, but the idol remained somehow. John's soul remained too, and he killed Simone.

This is the point, where the Trilby's Notes begins. Trilby saw Simone was killed by the same machete what John DeFoe used, so he start searching the idol. He go to the Ministry of Occultism, and he found that the Clanbronwyn Hotel bought some artifacts from the DeFoe manor after it burned down.
"Accidentaly", that hotel is the place where Cabbadath summoned Chzo, and where the "magic tree's" stump is still there underground! And more "accident", Trilby arrived to the hotel in the anniversary of the Tall Man, so he roamed the Hotel! Also, near the stump, people who are depressed fall into a "reality shift" and from the "world of technology"(thats our world) they go to the "world of magic" what looks weird.

Trilby met Lenkhman, who is a man from the Ministry of Occultism, and Lenkhman gave Trilby some tranquilizer pills. The tranquilizer pills and the caffein helped Trilby to travel between realities anytime he wants(more or less), so he solved a lot of puzzle and learned the tale of the "wood" by touching different artifacts, and read the notes what Lenkhman left him.

In the end, after Trilby figured out the full story of Cabbadath and Chzo, Lenkhman admitted that he is a bad guy and he is from the cult that Freehorn founded hundred years ago. Lenkhman and his order want ... .... want what? Here I lost the thread, even if I played the game multiple times :/ Probably they want to bring the Tall Man to our world and they need Trilby to do that(don't know why him). And if they bring the Tall Man to our world, that's probably good for Chzo(don't know why). In the end, Trilby died before the Tall Man could use his body, so Lenkhman failed, and the Tall Man killed him. Siobhan brought Trilby back to life, and everything okay, except Trilby can't destroy the idol, because that would be good for Chzo(don't know why).

So, please explain me some things what I couldn't get, and correct me where I was wrong :) I like the story, so I would be happy if I could understand it :)

Heh, I'm going to play through these again right now :D

I never really bothered to completely understand the convoluted story behind all four games, there are definitely threads dealing with that already though.

Here's the Trilby's Notes thread: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=27110.0
And here's the 6 days thread: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=29897.0

Both should contain a fair amount of discussion (and maybe insight) about the plots.

I recommend trying the special editions

Yahtzee pretty much lays it all out for you.

I will check that thread. I've already read some pages before I posted here, but maybe I should have read more...

I've also played through the special edition. That was fun to read the comments and it gave several interesting informations. Even though, I still don't know some things, especially about the ending :/ The reason why things are difficult for  me is the language of the game. Somewhere it's quite hard to understand the sentences for me, and sometimes I don't have enough time to read. Probably I should play it again, for the third time  ::)

Anyway, I haven't played 6 Days a Sacrifice yet, because I would like to understand Trilby's Notes first.
