AdventureX sounds a bit like a nude backpacking organization.

"adventurexpo" seems to be available in all flavours, except ".com".

Stupot

or even 'adventureX-expo.co.uk'
It's available and does what it says on the tin.  Makes use of the X without making it look like a pron site, and includes the word 'expo', leaving people in no doubt that it is supposed to be a geeky affair.

Cheers for the input. Can't afford the domain just yet hehe but I will get it next week!!

Okay, the website has more content, you can take a look here:
http://www.screen7.co.uk/adventurex/

Let me know if it's covering the right stuff and if there's other info you need. Obviously it'd be good to have an actual location but I'm still making queries to locs about price and stuff.

There are still some temporary images from the Template I used, these will be changed ASAP.

Also, if anyone has time to make a better banner for the top that'd be awesome, and if anyone has an idea for a decent slogan, just say it! UK's first & finest makes it sound like a radio station I used to listen too, hehe!!

I also need a few website link graphics, you know, those 120x60 style mini banners that other people can use. If anyone can merge adventure game images into one that also says "AdventureX", and maybe lens flaers!1 then please do upload it for me to use!

Anyway, yeah, more organising soon when my internet connection properly resumes :P

Firefox is still detecting your allcomfirmed.html file as a reported attack site.

I like the site.  Just seems right.  I'm getting pretty excited about the prospect of this event  :D

Thanks Stu, there is no nasty code in the HTML on the server, so no idea what that could be about. But typically that is the most important page to be able to read and the internet just won't allow it.

m0ds

http://www.adventurex.eu it is :)

I bought it 10 minutes ago, set up the web forwarding, but I assume it could take a day or so to actually start working..? Anyway, this was the cheapest offer, so I took it :P

I get:

There is no website configured at this place.

Go to http://americangirlscouts.org?

So it can find the address but the forward isn't set right?
Ultimate Game Solutions - Because there is a solution for everything

m0ds

Feck. It worked earlier, but not now! I'm looking into it, may just need to propogate? :)

Perhaps I should just promote http://www.screen7.co.uk/adventurex   for now, oh, and put a counter on there ;D

PS:

Free entry for:
- Anyone bringing a game to show off, OLD OR NEW must let me know though by September
- Anyone willing to give a tutorial on AGS, or any related subject to AGS
- Anyone willing to give a speech/tutorial on any resourceful subject relating to adventure games (get in touch now tho!)
- Anyone from Jamaica with a big bag of weed

PM me if you can help out :)

Peder 🚀

Ticket reserved!
Flight prices seems decent enough!

I should have my first commercial game done by then but I doubht I'll manage to do a speech or anything about it :P.
Though if it IS done I might bring the game with me so people can try it, and also maybe I will make a few "hard copies" to sell there! And if the next game is far enough I might show off some stuff for that :P.

m0ds

Many thanks Peder, it'll be good to meet you there :) Keep me posted on your game!

Peder 🚀

It will be nice to meet you to! And all the other AGS community members who will show up to! :P.

I assume there will be space for any developer to showcase their upcoming games? (as long as we bring equipment ourselves I guess? And if you have been notified of the interest :))

LimpingFish

I hope it's near a nice hotel. Or in a nice hotel! That would suit my lazy arse down to the ground.

Hmm, conventions in hotels...I've never seen the appeal myself...but perhaps. The places I've been looking at all have comfortable sofas and bar areas though, so perhaps that'll suit yo' ass, Fish ;)

Update: The first major venue I was hoping for got back to me with a quote. £1200 a day....so that place ain't gonna happen! >< More news soon :)

Chicky

There is a good chance i will go to this.

Peder 🚀

For those who are planning to go there, and doesnt live in the UK, what airport will you be flying to?
And which airport is the best to go to when it comes to transport from the airport to London money wise?
The cheapest airport for me to travel to is Gatwick..

Will there be a guide waiting for all of us that are coming at the airports Mods? :P

I'd probably manage to get myself to London and to the place I'd be staying, but It woulden't hurt getting some directions ;D.

Central London is easy to reach from any airport near by, Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stanstead, London Central... they all have bus services into London which aren't too expensive. I'll find all these details, which busses to get etc once the location is properly sorted. There will be full details on the "Map" section of the website when it's possible! I'm really trying to get location sorted so that people can, if necessary, book a flight -- but I'd advise you don't do that yet!! The show is still really only wavering in the "will happen" area and sometimes dipping into the "won't happen", but that's really all because of a solid location. But yes, you will have all the directions you can eat, Peder :)

Sadly, there won't be guides, sorry, or cheafuers :P It's a show, you come if you want, you find it if you want to find it, etc... I will be just way too busy doing stuff to be able to be a guide myself, but you never know, perhaps some people will offer. I'll keep this in mind!

Peder 🚀

Glad to hear that!
I will then for sure go for the cheapest sollutions when it comes to the plane.

Also, I am in full action working on a demo that I will want to show off if the expo happen :).

WADJET EYE GAMES - Puzzle Bots (USA)
Successful developer Wadjet Eye Games will be showing their latest works & their classics including Emerald City Confidential and Puzzle Bots.

M0ds, you really need to start confirming with people before you start posting stuff like this.  Yes, I said I would demonstrate a game, but I never said that it would be Emerald City Confidential or Puzzle Bots. ECC will be old news by than, and I would have to get permission from my publisher and I can't guarantee they'd say yes.  As for Puzzle Bots, I can't say for certain what state the game will be in.  I *hope* it will be ready but I can't say for certain.

Also, this was listed under the exhibitor's page.  According to your previous post, this entails being at a table or booth and showing off your products to anyone who walks by.  If so, I never agreed to do that.  I am more than happy to be a speaker or a panelist (I love public speaking), but being an exhibitor and sitting at a table all day isn't something I'd care to do.

Anyway, just wanted to set the record straight.  As you add speakers/panelists to your site, be sure to confirm that they are doing what you say they are doing, otherwise both the guests and the speakers will get really upset.

Hi Dave, I used Puzzle Bots and Emerald City in there as temporary, because they are your newest/upcoming titles. I still need to email you and all the other speakers about what is ACTUALLY going to happen. I'm still trying to build interest, and if you've read through the site you should have found the words, "You will be emailed the final line up" and that "everything is subject to change". And when it does change, it will be amended on the website. I didn't really want to put "Wadget Eye Games will be here! But at time of writing, god knows what they'll be bringing".

I simply haven't had the time to get in touch with you and the others yet, there's so much going on. And hey, I'm learning from it.

Also exhibitor doesnt just mean that, it also means bringing a CD of your game(s), putting it on a laptop and just letting people play, without you having to be anywhere near it. Does that still cause a problem for you? Consider some exhibitor stands as "try before you buy" rather than "look and chat to the developer". Seperate to speaking and exhibiting, there is also 20 minute major revelation sections, one is FoY, the other hopefully Resonance, and there are still 2 spare. Hopefully something like Puzzle Bots or your latest game could be revealed in one of these slots, but as far as the site goes, these events will still be considered/listed as "exhibitors".

Finally, nothing is concrete yet. The only time things should be considered concrete by yourself and others is when 1. The tickets ACTUALLY go on sale and 2. You recieve the final line up in an email.

Hope that helps.

Just some advice.  FoY, any way you slice it, is copyright infringement on the Indiana Jones franchise.  Hosting an event like this and showcasing something like FoY is just begging to get a cease and desist order and negative publicity.  Take it for what you will.
