AGS Awards 2009
What are the AGS Awards? The AGS awards are an annual event where the best AGS games of the year are selected. The winners are chosen by
you, with your vote!
How do they work? There are two stages,
nominations and
vote. In the former, you nominate games that you think deserve to win; you can nominate as many games in as many categories you like. The nomination phase is over! Read a list of who made it here (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/AGS_Awards_2009)!
The top five nominees advance to the second phase: here you can cast just one vote in every category (voting closed at 12:00 GMT on 22 Feb 2010)!; the nominee with the most votes wins!
Where and when will the ceremony be held? This year the ceremony will be held on AGS IRC (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/acirc.htm), a chat channel for dudes and dudettes like us. The datetime is Febraury, 27th @ 22GMT. Check details here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=39829.msg530258#msg530258)!
Who's behind this? This year the awards are organised by me (bicilotti), with the great help of CJ (forum-wide announcements and renewed nomination page) and Jake (IRC ceremony).
I'm a non native english speaker. If you find mistakes in this post, or unidiomatic english, please send me a Private Message so I can quickly fix those!
Good stuff! And IRC even better :) I'd go with 20:00 - 22:00GMT. Though anytime on a Saturday is good for me. Friday is out of the question. Whenever...Looking forward to it, so thanks bicilotti!
Awesome. Thanks for a great start to your reign as AGS Awards guy, bici!
Hang on... can we really nominate AGS Awards Ceremony 2008 for an award?!
And, massive typo :P 'Which are the gategories?'
20:00 is 5am here. Too early for an award ceremony!!!
*edit* One more thing, the Vestibule demo was originally released in 2001 or thereabouts. I'm not really sure it should be in that list. I know for sure it was ezboard days. We can't have Yahtzee winning any more awards, seriously.
To address a worry (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=39830.msg524418#msg524418) stated by Grim Reaper in the Fyc thread: yes, commercial games are eligible as freeware ones. Updated the first post, and corrected the massive typo.
edit: Layabout, is/was the game (vestibule demo) to be found in the database in the past? Or was it just in a WiP thread?
I'm not sure if the database even existed in ezboard days.
Currently it seems impossible to nominate the commercial games in other categories than Best Demo.
But anyway I'm afraid this years very strong commercial releases will leave very little awards for the freeware titles. And does anyone know why Blackwell Convergence isn't in the database?

Thanks Ascovel, there are indeed some commercial entries which are in 'Demo' category, despite being full games, (albeit commercial). I PMd CJ about this, it should be changed soon.
Layabout: rules of the previous edition of the AGS awards where pretty straightforward, it's the date of registration in the database that counts. So good luck to Vestibule. (same goes for BC, if the author puts it in the database, it'll be eligible that year).
Commercial games are listed as Demos because only the demo is available on the database.
Makes sense, doesn't it? :).
Is there going to be another category of "Best Short Game not made by Ben304!" ;)
Just askin'... :=
Noms done :D
Reading through that list sure made me reminisce about all the games I've played this year. It's a shame that some games that I loved this year aren't that well known, but fingers crossed for those authors.

Yes and no. There
is a complete game benheat.
But that's not what interests me: I just'd like to see those adventures competing in categories different than "Best demo".

If the authors are not around, consider making a post yourself in the fyc!
I've just seen that The Vestibule is on the nomination page as well...
Best demo from 2001 in 2009 ? :=
@Abstauber
The chances for winning 'favorite MAGS' are not bad, too.
It is actually extremely broken that commercial games should not be considered for nomination due to the way the nomination/game pages are set up. The same way it is broken that a demo from 2001 for a never to be released game should be considered for an award.
I would have nominated Blackwell Convergence for every award due to the time effort and love put into that game. But alas, I cannot.
This needs to be fixed and people should be able to re-nominate if they wish.
Actually, in previous years I've gone and reminded people ahead of time to get their games in before the year end. This year I didn't, so perhaps some adjustments can be made. Mea culpa.
@Helme: ...if the maggie-voters like to shoot stuff. That's why I try my luck here ;D

Well, to be fair I totally forgot to add Blackwell Convergence to the AGS games database, so that probably disqualified it.

Oh I never knew it was pick of the month once. I apologise. Still I think the game should be considered for a nomination. It rocks.

So what's going on with the commercial games "best demo only" problem? You guys are working on it or it will stay the same?

I'm Working on it! The planned solution will allow everyone to nominate those game wherever they want (even if they already have compiled the form).
There is just *one* piece of the puzzle to get in place and then I'll make an announcement.

I find it less visible since I tend to ignore the 4 or 5 sticky posts and jump straight to the new topics whenever I visit the forum. But that's just me.

01/15/10 20:16GMT - The nomination page now allows commercial games to be nominated in other categories other than "Best Demo". (thanks to LimpingFish, CJ and assorted panelists)
If you have submitted your nominations before the form was fixed and want to nominate one of those games in other categories, please send me a Private Message. I'll record the vote manually.
Here (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/AGS_Awards_2009) you can find a list of all the categories.
I apologise to the developers and to the voters for the inconvenience!

Thanks for counting up all the votes, AmericanGirlScouts, bicilotti and Pumaman.
The voting results are... fascinating! All games I voted for received at least one nod it seems.
EDIT: Nope. One of my choices got nothing. :(
Great, for once I've actually played, if not most, at least a significant number of the nominees. Usually I have to devote several weekends to catch up on last year's games before I can cast my vote. Now I can rewatch The Wire instead.
Wohoo! I played most of the nominated games, and all of those deserve their nominations in my opinion. Voting will be hard this year...
Best non-adventure game category:
AGS 180 Darts: both links are broken (time expired presumably).
All the magical things: the download link asks for an email address. Does anyone have a free link?
Medieval Prisoner: managed to create a "Scoring Chicks" popup box and told me there was no download bandwidth available and would I like to upgrade to premium?
World of our Own: the link takes me to an upload page instead of a download page.
(Shai-la wins by default!)
Time Gentlemen, Please! has a lot of nominations, lets do the game and Zombie Cow justice this year! They should definitely win Best Dialogue and Best Puzzles... :)
Ben has quite a few nominations, too!
Tough competition in the puzzle category. Seeing Ben, Calin, Auriond & the zombie Cow in several categores isn't a big surprise, though.
I wonder why the users can't choose the best innovation?

It was always committee decided and I preferred to change nothing this edition, so to test the water before any "reform" of the awards. If there's a general consensus towards user's choice I'll gladly do it in the 2010 edition (or whoever's the host).

I don't mind that much that the users can't choose the Best Innovation, but it would nice if there were nominations for this Award. I'm always interested in seeing what games were close to winning.
If there's a good explanation for it, it's okay for me. But right now I'm just wondering why it's treated differently.
But it's obviously a good way for the lifetime award.

Same here. I didn't play ATOTK back in 2007, and since it was in nomination in all categories, I didn't vote, and in 2008 it was far worse. Last year I stopped to shovel indie games in a folder everytime I was sucked in a big commercial game for weeks and I played each one of them as they were released. I only have 2 games to play but this year I'll finally be able to vote.

Well, the number of people who nominated last year was 90+, that's why I was a bit impressed by 2009's numbers. Having said that, I feel that the in-forum advertising, me spamming these awards in some others forums (like AG and TIG) and the hype of the IRC ceremony could boost the 2nd phase votes!
My method of getting more nominees was bugging people in PMs, IRC, Tokbox, Stickam, etc. until they gave in or deserted the forums forever.
I'll send you the comprimising photos that I used to blackmail people in to voting, if that helps.
Are the nominees all pre-decided?
I'm asking this only because there seems to be only a few in the same category over and over, namely McCarthy, Shifter's Box and Marionette, which I seem to see over and over again; best game, best character, best story etc.
Well, the games are surely a cut above the rest, but it's almost like dominance. :o
There was an open nomination phase a short time ago. Members voted for which games to nominate in each category. All games released in 2009 were eligible, and the games with the most nominations were entered into the final voting.
If you don't like the fact that McCarthy, Shifter's and Marionette were nominated for so many, feel free to vote for my two games which are in the running. Murran Chronicles 2 and Mr. Danger's Contest *Shameless Plug* :)
-Bill
Feel free to vote for an underdog, if you think they're better in that certrain category than the multinominated games.

It is puzzling. That's for sure. Why everything actually finished within a calendar year isn't just added to an automated voting system I guess we will never know.
Maybe whoever organises it grew up in a soviet bloc country, so they think that is how democracy and voting are meant to work.
...
It isn't, by the way.
The nominations process is just like voting. The more nominations that game receives, it puts it in the top 5 nominated games list and then it's up to the final vote to break the draw.
If you didn't nominate any games, then it's definitely your loss, and that particular game's loss for not getting that game into the final vote. :P
Only 55 people joined in on the nominating, so don't expect much variety.
Nominations are one thing. I am hoping more people vote in the actual contest. I think the bolded red text at the top of the forums help drive the point across :) I think that was a great idea to promote it.
-Bill
Goldfish, if it is your ambition to just start arguments all over the AGS forum (and then write about it in your blog) I suggest you think again.
Taking a quick look at your posting history, the majority of what you write is just complaints and insults.
If you really think you're making valid points, at least consider expressing yourself more politely.

I totally agree. I've always been curious why the voting was advertised as it is now, but the nominations weren't.

Hey Littlenate! I was really impressed with the demo of Little Dreamer and hope you'll make a full-blown game out of it. We're competing in the same category, but nevertheless I wish you good luck.
I think the reason why best innovation is jury-picked is that it's hard to vote for. "Innovation" is a lot harder to define than something like "good graphics," which you know when you see it. It usually refers to something specific, not just an overall impression, and may be so subtle that you overlook it if you're not paying special attention.
That means you have to think pretty carefully about the games, how they're constructed, whether that's innovative, and how much that innovation contributes to the quality of the game. Each person will think of different things, and probably forget some major innovative aspects of other games. The votes could be all over the place, and just from each vote you can't really tell what the reasoning was. So merely adding up the numbers of votes for each game isn't enough.
It's the kind of thing you really have to discuss among a group of people, to try to make sure that you don't forget anything major, and so you can evaluate the arguments for the different candidates. Hence the way it is now. It also means that when the award is handed out, the jury can explain their reasoning.
That's just my interpretation, though. I don't actually remember if that's why the system was made the way it is.
That's pretty much it, Snarky. Maybe next year if bici isn't too demoralized by passive-aggressive numpties then he can see what he thinks works or doesn't work from this year and make next year's awards so awesome that even idiots fall on their knees and idolise him. Or something like that. I think that given the short notice and lack of help from the previous administrator 8) then bici has done an awesome job.

I gotta say that i don't like Goldfish, i thought i was the only one who noticed the arrogant aggressive tone to his posts, coined with trying to type every word in the english dictionary before getting his point across. There's no need for ego's in AGS, the point of the forum is to make everyone feel equal. Also, i can't help but feel that his old skinhead avatar made his persona feel that much more aggressive.
Goldfish, i suggest taking a more understanding approach to your posts. Not everyone is as computer-literate as you!

Back to topic, i didn't have time to play all the nominees this year; maybe increase the time next year?

I think the innovation award is also commitee chosen to be more distinguishable from awards like "best gameplay".
It's also way more exciting ;)

I think it would be even more exciting if the runner-ups would be mentioned during the ceremony. Surely, it can happen that there is more than one innovative game during a year, and it is a shame those slightly less innovative titles will be totally ignored in the Awards.
I think one year I had to beat the committee members with a stick to get them to collectively come up with just one suggestion for Innovation, which does undermine the whole "discussion, sharing" argument. And against the "tell us the shortlist" suggestion too!
Surely this happened during the Dark Ages of AGS when people were afraid of Innovation in general. The past year and 2008 had both produced several games that can be seen as innovative - it would be great to support a larger number of fresh ideas and experimentation in general.
is there a soundtrack somehwrer? ;D :D ;D
For anyone who feels left out of the process, that probably means that the public at large can wield considerable influence over the winner by starting a thread and presenting a case for games they think are worthy candidates.
Bic, is there a plan for a game, like last year?

Bic, is there a plan for a game, like last year?
No, this year the ceremony will be held on IRC only. I had this idea of a dual ceremony, Dual (ehehe), but then realised it would have been a bit stale, with all the light shed on the IRC one.
It's a pity that there won't be an award game like last year, that was awesome! Still, looking forward to the ceremony.
If one knows how to make the TCP/IP plugin we can totally have an IRC game!!
I didn't vote in all categories, which seems to have went just fine. Is this possible? If so, good, because I like to make my opinion voiced but don't feel I should be voting for stuff I have no clue about.

Yes it is valid. In a similar fashion to the nomination phase, you can't change you vote once submitted, so take your time to decide!
Oi, concerning dates, I'd prefer any other day around that except the 27th as that's booked but rest are not. :\ Time of day is fine though.

Bump! Last few hours to vote!
Phew! I ended up having to play quite a few games after all in order to make a pick in all the various categories (just covering the Ben304 oeuvre is like a day's work in itself; man that guy is productive! The games are short, but they add up!) but I managed it with hours to spare.
Great job, all nominees! You made picking a favorite a hard job, in many cases.
And extra special congratulations to the people whose first AGS game was nominated. Looking forward to more from you guys!
That's it for the voting. Good luck to everyone who was nominated.

Seconded, though I'd love to be you in terms of AGS legend! I'd love to see how this goes. I wish I had more time to create an AGS irc ceremony game.
22:00 GMT?
Wow, that's late.. I'll probably be there, but how long will it be?
Wohoo! I probably won't have time to join the IRC ceremony, but I am looking forward to the announcement of the winners. :)
Just in advance, do I need any fancy mirc plugins or will it be just plain text?
(mp3 streams or whatever I need special software for)
Btw. yeah, 22 GMT is indeed very late... Espresso time :D
It should be text. Well I think I may need to borrow a friend's laptop to see the show. Life without a computer is hard.
Late? What would you like best? 21PM? Is there any aussie/american participating?
I am American, and I plan on being there. It is only 5pm my time though.

Well, since it's Saturday I think 23:00 GMT+1 is fine for me.
I've got to help a friend moving that day anyway so the date is already ruined. With the ceremony there's at least something fun on Saturday.

Not to steal any of bic's glory, but I'm thinking of creating a skype room to run and comment the AGS awards parallel on the IRC ceremony, announcements will still happen in IRC, but those that have MICROPHONES can use them. Perhaps bic can host that too, and we just add him as a contact to skype.

On account of the weather, I might be there this year. We're getting a bunch of sleet and rain here and it's suppossed to be worse tomorrow. So I just might be at the ceremony this year :D
Well the time is obviously favoured to Americans so no doubt they'll do their usual thing of being the largest number of people available but only 1 of them shows up.
;)
But at least when we show up we are fat, lazy and eating cheezeburgers. Hells yeah!

Good job to everyone that won. I haven't checked out the wiki yet, but I missed it. I was there for about a minute :( Better luck next time.
Job well done, Biclotti!
Well done to all the nominees, and congratulations to those who took home an award or two tonight. :)
Excellent Awards, too bad I learned my IRC skill gots a bit rusty.
Congrats to everyone and big thanks for voting for Franko!
I had to run off as soon as it finished, so I justed wanted to congratulate all the winners and nominees once more, and say thanks to Bicilotti for organizing :D
Odd stat:
Apart from Mash's involvement with TGP and The Marionette winning Best Demo previously, I think all of out winners this year were first-time winners!
Congratulations to the winners!! and the nominees as well!! :D
Thank you, everyone. Sorry I couldn't make it - I did try to dip in at the end, but failed miserably.
Very exciting.
Awesome cool night, with a healthy amount of intoxication. Poor Calin ;)
Aww poor Calin indeed, 4 awards and still took a verbal mocking lolz
Hello everyone,
I wasn't able to be on the ceremony, but I read the log file. I didn't expect Cosmos Quest 3 to win any award (for best voice work or best documentation), because to be honest the CQ3 has only one voice act and also the game documentation is not that rich. But I didn't like the behaving of some of the people and their speaking for P...S AWARDS.
Anyway.
Congratulation for Calin. I played The McCarthy Chronicles and I must say that I like it very much - especially the voice acting.
Hooray, thanks committee!
This award has pride of place on my virtual mantelpiece!
And congrats to the class of 2009!
Thanks to bicilotti for running the Awards this year!
Congratulations to all the winners, nominees, and indeed everyone who made a game in 2009! I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the ceremony, maybe next year :)
Congratulations to all winners & nominees! Their accolades are well earned. 2009 was a good year for AGS games indeed. :)

Which is exactly why I stopped having that award. It insults people and can hurt their feelings for the sake of a cheap laugh. While I may disagree with the behaviour of people in the games DB (or in IRC) I don't thinks that means its OK to go all ad hominem on their ass. Of course, that doesn't mean that I'm innocent in this respect, but generally if you attack a person you look like an idioit yourself.
An idiots oppinion to that:
Simply stop posting uncensored log files publically [PERIOD]
I think it has been a great night and I had more than a cheap laugh. Please don't ruin it with political correctness.
Of course you could also let Roger do the moderation and announcements and mute everyone else. Who needs freedom of expression. ::)
These are community awards - if you kick the community in the nuts, it might be possible for it to kick back.
Well... not mature but understandable.

Hahaha, IRC offenses! Come on guys, stop being fairies :) Just about everyone had the mick taken of them, it's called having a sense of humour. So enough posting about Harg and Harg inspired political correctness. Cheers
No one is trying to ruin the ceremony. The idea of ceremony and the ceremony itself is great! I just didn't like the behaving of 2 of the people on the ceremony that insult me. Since my game is nominated, I think I have the right to say that.

It's of course not good that you feel offended by something said during the awards. But I don't think it was meant as an insult at all. They never say that you did a bad job with anything, they're just saying that the game doesn't have a lot of voices and the game documentation wasn't as vast as other games.
I haven't played Cosmos Quest 3, and I don't know in what context this was said. Just giving my 2 cents.
EDIT: I completely misunderstood what you wrote since I was tired.. Disregard this.
I know I should just shut up and let this topic end itself.
I can't! :(
1) Compared to Calin, the jokes on your costs are negligible :)
2) The p3n1s-awards have been there til 2006
3) If you re-read your post history (except for liking my tutorial ;) ) you might understand, why Dualy made up that joke. Calm down and for a change post something nice again.
The real winner of the audience has already best been described by Chicky.
And regarding the voice award announcement:
If would have been there, I might not have messed CQ about. But since you've decided not to attend and everyone already knew that McCarthy would win, that hoax was not too inappropriate. And I've played, finished and feedbacked CQ3 :)

This is a community, and individuals say stuff that comes to their mind (actually, on IRC it's usually type first, think later). There's no script, and no grand plan to persecute you. If you behave in a way people find ridiculous, some are going to make fun of you. It doesn't mean that everyone hates you. Just get over it, and try making some posts other than "Boo hoo, everyone is mean to me!" You'll see things improve.

On the subject of the penis award, grow up. I got called a girl several hundred times and I was alright.. This is IRC not the damn houses of parliament.
Harg, thanks for the pm, very meaningful. Also on-topic, I do recall I called Calin with many others a girl, which is even worse than a dick. Calin got 4 awards though, so perhaps that helps his sorrow. But it's just him, he says he looks like a girl in his avatar, so he can take a joke. I couldn't expect nothing more from a guy that can't take a bad rating. You actually haven't heard the boos on Skype when your name was typed, you should find my friends list and pm them too.
Hell, I even mocked at Mods (MODS!!!), when I was announcing the award, lol I even said Nelly Cootalot by Ben Jordan or something like that, and everyone found it really stupid and perhaps a little funny, and they understood that FFS, it was the AGS Awards ceremony!! Look at the nonsensical stuff Mods is typing!

Mentioning my game and that p...s award was totally inappropriate. And who the hell nominated CQ3 for the awards? Or maybe the nomination of the game was joke - on purpose?
It's the Internet. Inappropriate things will be said. Get over it.
CQ3 was nominated by people who enjoyed it, I'm sure, or at least appreciated those aspects it was nominated for. There aren't that many games with voice acting or that do something special with the documentation, so it probably wouldn't take very many votes to get on the ticket. Just be happy for the nominations and stop being such a buzzkill.

I think it's the epitome of stupidity to nominate a game, so you can see or expect that people will mock it for being there. It's just stupid. PLAIN STUPID.

I think it's the epitome of stupidity to nominate a game, so you can see or expect that people will mock it for being there. It's just stupid. PLAIN STUPID.
Ok Dualnames, then tell me why it was nominated for the best voice acting and best documentation, when there no voice acting and no documentation?
Quote from: Harg on Mon 01/03/2010 21:51:39
Cosmos Quest 3 doesn't have voice acting and doesn't have documentation.
CQIII has a narrator voice, if I recall correctly?
Harg, please, try to be positive: if people nominated it, they for sure thought it deserved that award!

CQ3 has only one voice act and also the game documentation is not that rich.
That sounds like it did have one voice and some documentation.
I have hundreds dialogs, and only 1 sentence with voice. Documentation... only 1 window help that tells the player how to save, how restore and e.t.c. CQ3 nomination was strange for me...

I find it insultive and unfair that I didn't get the life time achievement award, when every other Tom, Dick and Harry on this forum has got one.
What the hell are you talking about? I didn't get
shit!

Also... insultive? Insultive is not a word
Oh. I think you should be most mad that some dicks voted for your game that way then, than just one remark I made on the IRC ceremony. But it's a grave you've opened there son.
@Harg:
I was always told: no matter how they talk about it, as long as they talk about it. Your game still gets lots of attention so see the positive side! It's a pity a great event like this has to end in a discussion like this.
I think the most important thing to take away from this ceremony is that some people got trophies and some people did not.
Sucks to be you Andail.

I'm sorry for that Leon. Yes, it's pity. Just check my first posts on the subject and see that I was positive. I just put a sentence about that p...s award and my game. Then all started to post without seeing my positives about the ceremony.
Then maybe you should have read it, left it and that's it. First time reading I didn't even think any of it because a lot of nonsense was uttered by a lot. But because the discussion came up I read it again and still couldn't find any 'hatred' or misconduct in it.
Maybe you should just push the 'read and ignore' button a bit more, instead of taking offense to everything. I know it's not nice of people to make fun of one another but hey... cheer up. It's not the end of the world. So why not just forgive & forget ignore and publish CQ4!
Apparently Cosmos Quest has gone from having some voices and a not-so-rich documentation, to no voices at all and no documentation at all.
Is it a game or a black hole, I wonder.
Both my games which were nominated didn't win awards. Maybe I will cry and stuff. Hell, I spent about 2 hours mixing all the music vocals in Audacity for Mr. Danger's Contest. I laid out like 10 phat beats and had to act the DJ in order to make it rock n roll. A good thing has come of it though. I have found my new calling. I am leaving the IT Industry and trying to make it as an a'capella rap/DJ guy. My wife is thrilled :)
Seriously though, I feel the same as the others. Just be glad your game was nominated, since that means people liked what you've done, regardless of whether you feel it to be worthy. I didn't expect either of my games to be nominated, but was really thrilled when they were. Especially since the music/sound for Mr. Danger's Content was just me making noises into my computer microphone for 30 minutes and hoping nobody overheard me. But like I said (and others too), I am really thrilled others liked it.

I've been on vacation and missed the ceremony! Big congratulations to all the winners and to all the nominees as well!
Hi.
I'm currently writing a little news article on the AGS Awards results that will be posted on a website dedicated to the creation of amateur games. Link (http://www.rpg-maker.fr/index.php) (the focus is currently on RPG Maker but we're trying to expand). Being slightly lazy, I was wondering if the winning games' creators had any screenshots handy for me to illustrate this article ; if not I'll just keep reusing the same screenshot over and over again each time a game won something.
Here's a little list per game:
Time gentlemen, please!:
Best game
Best gameplay
Best dialogs
Best non player character
The marionette:
Best original story
Best background art
Best music
Best tutorial or documentation
Shifter's box:
Best puzzles
Best short game
McCarthy:
Best player character
Best sound effects
Best animation
Best voice work
I you feel like giving me something thematically appropriate with the award (a song for best music, an animated gif for best animation, etc.), it would be awesome, but just different screenshots for each time the game is mentioned would make me happy. If the people who won only one award don't wan't me to use the screenshot present in the AGS database, they can of course give me something else. If anybody (among the people who had games nominated for this session of the AGS awards :p) wants me to include a link to a personal website or blog, or write something specific, I'll be happy to oblige.
Cheers. ^^
The entire soundtrack of TM is up for grabs at the moment (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=39287.msg531261#msg531261), so you can download it and choose what you think represents the soundtrack best. I'd recommend any of the pieces that are a variation on the main theme ("Dance of the Lifeless", "Dance of the Marionette", "A Toy for the Above" etc.) though I have heard that different people have their own favourites.
As for screenshots, the irony is that I don't have any on my site! Here's a gallery with a good selection of screenshots from throughout the game though: http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/marionette/screenshots Take your pick :)
There are loads of TGP! screenshots here (http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/benthere/benthere.htm) (not my site or anything, I just remember the review having loads of screens) but they are very spoilery, so be careful which you use...
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners!
I wish I could have made it to the ceremony, but I had to eat vegan chinese food at an all you can eat buffet. I promise to have a better excuse for not making the next one.
Sorry I wasn't there this week...
Thank you very much for your vote for "Shai-la of the Sith"! I am very happy, this is my first AGS award!! ;D
I just read the transcript and the awards page wiki ... I had no idea I had won an award! Golly!
Thanks very much to the committee and to those lovely comments on the transcript!
Thanks again!
Read the
Formatted Log of the IRC Ceremony (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/AGSAwards/ags_awards_log_2009.php)
with "toggle applause" button (thanks to AGA)
127 people did vote, which is nice to see (I'd like to give you a number for the 2008 Awards too, but I don't know where to find it. SSH?).
I was dying from laughter while reading this, thank you all for this great ceremony, people ;D
Is there a working link for Cosmos Quest III somewhere? I'd feel bad if I didn't link to it when the game is mentionned. :(

It seems reasonable to try there :P

In case you're interested (http://www.rpg-maker.fr/index.php?page=newsnorm&id=87) (and can read French).
Thanks for the helpful links, everybody.
I don't know French, but it looks very good and the descriptions seem really exhaustive. Thanks.
Sorry, bici, don't have that stored. I see that in my blog it was 110 a while before voting closed, so it was probably around the same number in the end.
Been away for a while. I wish I'd had time to play more of the nominated games this year, but big congrats to all the winners! :D

Same. I'm going to go through over the next couple of weeks just playing all the winning games (the one's I haven't played yet), and maybe some of the runners up who caught my eye.
Playing Shifter's Box now... it's goood :)
Ye olde bigge DB is now updated (thanks to CJ and SSH, who reminded me of that).

Thanks, I love to have the award image in my game's details.
