I'm making some kind of nazi version of Mania Mansion Mania

I've planned, that Bernard reads at evening for next day exam of history of the Nazi Germany and then at night dreams about nazis. Thanks to that the game can be humoristic and surrealistic.

Send me at email good puzzle ideas for this game. What could be the final event, when Bernard would wake from his dream.

well, I think calling it "the nazi version" is a bit too much. That, to me, sounds like just advancement of nazism, which, I'm sure everyone here doesn't want a part of.

I could understand that Bernard would read a history book about Nazis, and could have a dream about it, but you will definitly need to expand upon that a whole lot more, as in what will the characters get from experiencing this "dream", before we can give you any ideas on what kind of puzzles to make.

Seriously, did you do anything yet on this, other than just think randomly?Ã,  Let's take Bernard, and um.... hey, I know.. lets throw in some Nazis!@ Cause that has everything to do with Maniac Mansion.

To me, its really random, and unneeded, plus, I know I won't play a game that even makes Nazis look good,( not saying that is what you were planning on) To me, it just doesnt fit in with the MM universe, even if a dream.

I first just wanted to leave a short reply stating "<Backs away slowly from the thread> but I figured that wouldnt be helpful.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Problem

There have been many dream episodes in Maniac Mansion Mania lately. Everything that didn't seem to work with the MM Universe ended up in a dream-episode.

That worked very well in episode 4 (which actually had nazi-references, but in a very different way), but it seems to me that people really got tired of dream episodes finally.

And you really should be careful with "humoristic" nazi games, because this can be misunderstood easily, and often this isn't funny at all.

Like Scummbuddy I think that nazis don't really fit into the MM universe. This is something for Indy, not for Bernard  ;)
The MM universe gives you many opportunities for great storys, you have so many characters to work with, it really isn't necessary to throw in something like nazis. It's the same with a "Star Trek" episode that some people on the german forums are working on, I  don't think that will work very well. But of course it's just my opinion.

Isn't Maniac Mansion Mania originally a German project? Keep in mind that swastikas and other nazi symbols can't be used in the game if you want to distribute it to people in Germany.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

"Can't" is a bit strong. Sure that common sense rules it out, but he most certainly can. Couldn't that film about Hitler be distributed in Germany? And things about Salazar, our own dictator, still crop up from time to time. There's no such thing as "can't".
Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

Kneel. Now.

Never throw chicken at a Leprechaun.

Problem

It's actually allowed in films and books, but it's not allowed in video games in germany afaik (don't ask why). For example, they changed all the nazi symbols in the german version of Indy 3 (the adventure).

Then again, it's not like anybody would sue a Finnish underground game developer for using such symbols.

To answer your question, Guy, I don't think it's a good game idea, but there's a recently released book about porn productions in the Third Reich, maybe you get some inspiration from that. That topic would be certainly an easy target for jokes, albeit not very funny ones probably.
