Sigh.

Quote
As you can see, “Luna” is one promising project. Lets just hope that Rusalka's desire to copy the mood of “Grim Fandango” doesn't spoil it.

I don't desire to copy anything. It's not like Grim. I just think Grim was awesome and learned some tips from it.

The 'years' part sounded Grim-ish, but it's implemented in a completely different way from Grim.

The keyboard interface is to allow for action sequences to be incorporated into the regular gameplay.

I resent that you call it a Grim clone. I resent you.

Just you wait. I'll show you. You dork!

Good read Vel, thanks.

You'd think by now you would've figured out how to make your own damn PDF's.. Not everyone has Microsoft Word.

Cute PDF (http://www.acrosoftware.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp) Might wanna check this out.

As far as the ezine goes, proofreading goes a long way, bud.

Yufster- Luna sounds really interesting! I can't wait to play it!  Though I'm having a lot of trouble seeing why Vel thought it was a GF clone.

The tutorial was cool, if a bit short.  Good job as usual, Vel.

Because of the amount of times I mentioned Tim Schafer, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango.

But Luna ain't no Grim Fandango. No way. I wouldn't steal stuff from a person I respect so much. Nosiree. I'm stealing my content from Funcom!

Oh, great.  A Grim Fandango/Longest Journey hybrid.  THANKS FOR NOTHING.

You should call your lead character APRIL CALAVERA.  It's funny cause it's from both games.  HAR.

LGM,
You know you can get a free Word reader from M$.
Please don't spread the filth that is PDF!

Yuf,
I loved GF. I'm so glad you're making a sequel. Or is it a prequel?
Title: Re:AGS Ezine issue 8
Post by: Meowster on Mon 19/04/2004 12:10:52
This is all your fault Vel.

But why stop now, Vel? What next? Why don't you tell PC Gamer? Why not e-mail Tim Schafer the good news? Or Gamespy? Maybe even LucasArts? Why shouldn't the entire world know?

And what will they know but a LIE. For that's what it is. A lie. You are a liar. And you lied. But yet you show no remorse. You lie without regret. You're a monster.

This thread is so confusing. So let's see if i got that right: Yufster is actually Ami, who is actually Rusalka... and she's making a Grim Fandango clone (shame on you Yufster/Ami/Rusalka :)). Confusing...

I'd like to read this, but I don't have MS office or open office. I'd like a PDF. PDF's are good and universally accepted. Word is not. Word is evil.

Luna has nothing whatsoever to do with anything that has something to do with anything Tim Schafer might have anything to do with!!!

What part of that don't you people understand!?!
Title: Re:AGS Ezine issue 8
Post by: Nacho on Mon 19/04/2004 14:11:31
OK... Yufster is AMI, who is Rusalka Clarke, AKA Indiana Psychonaut... And she's making a game which is going to be maravellous called "Luna", which simillarities to Tim Schafer's games are just because she admires Tim and getting a similar atmosphere would definitely be an archievement for her.

So, don't bother her with the Grim Fandango thingie, it's obvious she's not happy about it, ok? Please, be good members, making fun is ok, but not bothering people.  :-X

Great ezine Vel. Did you write the historical tutorial youself?

Am looking forward to both "Luna" and "Donna", from these previews. I'm sure Yufster will turn out something that's good whether it's like game A, game B, games C, D and E or even if its like game GF... as with a lot of projects I just hope that she can keep up the momentum to get it finished.

Yufster: This thread is going too off-topic, why don't you create a new one, OR EVEN work on the game and prove me goddamn wrong?

Not that it belongs to me, but...

QuoteI'm working very hard on Luna, despite the fact it may openly seem as though I am making random posts over at lucasforums, agsforums and adventuregamers forums, drinking a lot of soda, making sporadic television appearances, watching others make sporadic television appearances, listening to Iron Maiden and the Gone Jackals... while it may seem like I am in fact not working on Luna, I can assure you that I am.

This is from somewhere she has wrote to...

btw. Irom Maiden rocks :)

WOW!

Talk about a tangent!

I got so caught up in reading this thread, I forgot to reply to it.

Vel - I'll get the online version up and running as soon as I can!

Ami - you have an absolutely brilliant writing style.  Please write a book so I can read it.

PS
What is Grim Fandango?

This game does sounds alot like grim fandango , except without skeletons , and an original plot. It sound ok but Grim fandango was much more original , a skeleton travel salesman MY GOD how did he think that up ?!!??!

This itself is off-topic, but I don't think this thread was really that far off-topic, as the main thrust of discussion was about the preview of Yufster's game, which was in the ezine...

To stay on-topic, I did like the tutorial: there were a few ideas that might help me formalise what I'm doing and hopefully focus my mind on getting a demo out and then on to the full game...

I feel somewhat unhappy that you didn't tell me you were going to publish my quick notes about Donna as a stand-alone article, Vel.

Had I known about this, I would spend more time on making it both better in stylistic and grammatical aspects and more enjoyable to the public. The text was intended for you just to get an idea about the game and write a proper preview. It's a bit ironical that you introduce me as a professional writer and then publish my unsystematised and linguistically lacking notes.

Post by: Vel on Wed 21/04/2004 09:44:17
Goldmund, I didn't intend you to write the preview when I contacted you, but when I read it, I thought that it would fit nicely for it.
Migs: Thanks.
Ultimo: Thanks for hosting.
Title: Re:AGS Ezine issue 8
Post by: SSH on Wed 21/04/2004 12:44:34
Goldmund, if it's any consolation, the preview still looks good to me. Also, bear in mind that in a magazine where you sit next to a Yufster interview, you're bound to look like a Nobel Literature Laureate...

Karimi: I realized I was being teased; I was playing along  :D

I did write a book, once. Well, I wrote on the book. Well, more specifically, I guess I didn't write a book at all.

Vel: I love the idea of reading about others games. However, I dislike my consistently incorrect use of punctuation, and the layout. It seems unprofessional, and there are many spelling mistakes. Also, it's just too heavily opinionated. Other than that, it's a good thing. Maybe you should hire writers?
Title: Re:AGS Ezine issue 8
Post by: on Fri 23/04/2004 14:17:10
Yufster: This is an AMATEUR ezine for AMATEUR games. The layout is as requested two issues ago. So either enjoy it or don't download it.
Title: Re:AGS Ezine issue 8
Post by: on Fri 23/04/2004 14:24:11
Woah, hold your horses. Keep your trousers on. Slam the brakes. Don't implode.

I'm just saying the layout could be improved. That doesn't mean I don't like the rest of the ezine.

Just because it's amatuer doesn't mean it has to appear that way.
Title: Re:AGS Ezine issue 8
Post by: Ishmael on Fri 23/04/2004 15:12:54
I gotta comment on the layout that I found it a bit hard to read as the text was in two collums, so I had to scroll up and down to read the rest of the page.  Other then that, no complaints at all.
Title: Re:AGS Ezine issue 8
Post by: Nacho on Fri 23/04/2004 15:31:05
Mmmm... I think that an Ezine that critics games must be open-minded to receive critics... If not, the Ezine would be incurring in the "I can critic your GAME, but YOU can't critic my EZINE, OK???"

That should be harsh...

About me, no critics at all to this issue... I would have included nude pics of the girlfriend of Donna's producer, but that's more a petition than a crit... ;D

No, my d/l did not die a virgin. I tried numorous amounts of times, but the zip and the pdf is corrupt. I really wanted to see this issue. This is causing me serious psychological problems you know. I fall asleep to the sound of my own screams, (rips at his face) DO YOU THINK I'M UNHAPPY? (turns around and joins the goth kids. Writes a bit of poetry to explain just how sad and cruel corrupt zip files are. The goth kids call him faggy and chuck him out.)...Woah, i got a weeny bit carried away there...

And for all you out there, these ezines are actually made for printing and stuff.
