So I was flipping through my friend's Computer Gaming World January 2005 issue and they had this article on freeware games you can download. I look at page 65 and I say "Hey, it's Maniac Mansion....! Oh, wait...." and then I looked closer:

My friend had two copies of the magazine, so I grabbed one and took it home to scan. No mentioning of AGS... then again, why would they mention it anyway?
I blame Bush.
It seems to me that they dont even realize that at least that Maniac Mansion game was a remade game. They actually may think that LucasArts released it. Do some research people.
I believe this because they dont link to LucasFans site, nor do they call it MM Deluxe.
Also, it's quite surprising that a computer magazine like CGW listed the-underdogs as the download site for it, while they put Lucasfan's address for the new Zak. (Hehe Underdogs is a freeware site, right?)
Underdogs has freeware or abandonware titles, but their description of abandonware is much stricter than some other sites.
Thats a big publication, Incredible how even the pros could mistake an amatuer game for the real deal, go ags and lucasfan
I cannot see the image [I suppose the scan of the page...]
If this is true, I think CJ, or LucasFan should write a letter to those people and make them publish a note on their next magazine correcting their error...
Quote from: CGWThe fan-made sequel to Zak McKracken and the Alien Rockstars (!), this new adventure-puzzle game proves to be just as amusing and well thought out as its predecesors.
Argh! They're mixing up Mindbenders (http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/gameId,305/) with Rockstars (http://www.zak2project.de/)?!?

Home of the Underdogs also has links to online stores (for recent and still in print underrated games) and even a little store themselves, see http://www.the-underdogs.org/store/

Try http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/agscgwjan05.jpg
as the games themselves mention AGS i don't really see the problem, plus you'd get a flood of ubernoobs if they mentioned it in the magazine, and they'd all ask if you can make FPS and GTA games in AGS...
