Heh. Not really, because playing an AGS game is just like playing any adventure game... you have to write your own.

If you want inspiration, you can check out my manual for LSL2 Point and click.

...

...bleh. I'm a shameless plugger. :P

I just feel so lazy today .  I didn't sleep last night so a little beat and lazy ..

Anyone like to add to this or  modify this ?

How to play a AGS Adventure game
Most AGS games use both mouse buttons and some will use the middle button if you have one .
If you have a  character  that can move most of the time you can move the  character by clicking someplace on the screen .
If there is an object on the screen you can sometimes left click and drag the object .
You can  right click anywhere on the screen and the icon will change in to the look , eye ,walk ,talk icons . (most games /not all )
Click everywhere on the screen .
Pickup when you can ( you will find it in your Inventory at the top of the screen (move mouse to the top to dropdown the menu ).
Combine Inventory items to see if you can make something else .
Drag items to screen to see if they open , move , unlock doors ,trunks etc .
Talk to anyone that you can and listen to what they have to say .

Heh. That just about applies to EVERY adventure game, and supplies zero information about HOW to play, since a GUI in AGS can be just aobut ANYTHING... :P

My "How to play AGS games document."
By Me.
*AHEM!*

If it uses a "Sierra" interface, play it like a Sierra game
If it uses a "SCUMM" interface, play it like a SCUMM game
If it uses a "Verb Coin" interface, play it like Curse of Monkey Island
If it uses any thing else, you're on your own.

Really, this is kind of pointless. The great thing about AGS is that you can have any sort of GUI that you want. Grr! Bearly Sane has the blood presure monitor.  Maniac Mansion Deluxe has switchable characters. Rode Quest has a parser.  There is no one AGS style.

Make your own GUI. Then there will be greatness and rejoicing.

A shameless plug, but download the full games I've made so far and read the readme's. I've described there how to use the interface, naturally I have forgot a few things, but you get the idea. MRC2 doesn't have that yet, but it has an in-game help (thus quite discreet, damn 300 char per string limit) that I'm quite proud of ;D
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

All you can really do is make an instruction file for the standard Sierra GUI, as most games will tend to use this. And perhaps include a brief description of the SCUMM, and verb coin GUIs. If someone makes a specialised GUI, then I guess its up to them to explain how to use it.

I think even more people want to make a personalized GUI nowdays. So just design your GUI and write your own documentation about it.  :=
