Nice Steve!!!  :D

I got a hole in one!

But I agree, the ball roles a little too smoothly.  It needs to come to more abrupt stops.  But it's a good achievement none the less!!!  I'll maybe experement with some of my own methods and see if I can come up with anything.

Yeah, sorry, I didn't make any attempt to model the friction of the ball accurately - I just put in some linear velocity damping and then stopped the ball when it dropped below a certain speed.
And I wanted to go to bed, so I didn't tweak the damping or cutoff speed too much.

It was just a proof of concept, rather than a proof of gameplay.
i.e., "AGS Miniature Golf... It is possible."

If anyone wants to develop this further, please be my guest.

That is cool. Definately has potential. Too bad i didnt listen much in physics, i might have been able to help develop it.

Kweepa

Ok, I was thinking about it in the bath, and I've decided to do a 9 hole miniature golf game, based on this prototype.

Here are the features:
- improved ball physics
- improved hole physics (the ball can run around the rim)
- slopes
- jumps
- raised platforms
- opening and closing gaps (like a windmill door)
- peg/posts (for pachinko type stuff)
- par times and a leaderboard
- shadows from walls
- multiple holes
- invisible paths (like inside a windmill)
- water, resulting in a drop shot

These features are all quite simple - and shouldn't take more than an hour or so each.

Here's what won't be in it:
- any perspective other than top down
- physics for the horizontal to vertical "edge" of a wall (the ball dropping off a platform)
- smoothly curved walls

But what I need is content - courses, based on AGS games past, present, or future.
Is anyone interested in contributing courses? All you need to do is to draw a course at 320x200, and I'll do the rest.
Pimp your game! Honour your favourite!
If I get more than 9 quality submissions, I'll of course make the game bigger.

I look forward to some cool contributions!

Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

This definately has potential, and Steve, first go it took me 2 strokes.

I used to love playing real minigolf and I also found some online computer ones years ago that I used to play and are still around

You might find some other potential ideas having a go of these

would you ever make a template for this? I would love to make a golf minigame

Moox

Kweepa

I could a template when I've made it a bit more user friendly - it's still one room only right now.

Lost Traveler:
Ok, so the ball starts in the bottom left, falls in a hole, travels down one of the pipes, then appears at the far end.
Hmm, I wasn't planning to include pipes, but I guess I could...
Any game theme you want to draw over that? It's a bit bland at the moment...

Will this work?  ???

Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Kweepa

It's a snail! But it's upside down!?
That will work fine - walls don't have to be at 45 degrees though. Go crazy!
It would be nice if walls had some thickness too.
And some top down trees, Snail Quest style, around the course? They could even overhang some parts.
Hint hint.

I will add a few eye catching details

This is my course. Could You pretty pretty please with sugar on top,  include it in the game Steve?

P.S Do I need to use anonymizer with Tripod sites?

Moox

I wanted it to like like its in some guys garage, i tried to make an oil slick and a lawnmower, but they didnt turn out right

Nacho

Lost... I know that you don´t want to make it in 3-d, but I think that some kind of isometric shape would just be the same as the 2-d, I mean, flat "physics" for the flat parts, "slopes physics" for the slopes...

Can that be done?
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Steves the one who made the project, i just made that hole

Raggit

NO NO NO!!!! THIS IS MY IDEA!!! YOU CAN'T STEAL IT JUST LIKE THAT, YOU STINKING THEIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding!  ;)

Very interesting stuff folks!!  I think that I might actually try to do one in first person perspective.   That'd be cool I think.

I also think there should be some experementing with curves and stuff.

THE WORMHOLE!!!

You can either make your way around the course, or ... try your luck in the worm hole.

If you hit it in the wormhole the ball has a 1 in 3 chance of where it comes out:
1) roll back out of the worm hole
2) right by the hole or
3) back to the start

This was fun!  I'm looking forward to this!

Where are the holes for where the ball comes out?

Man I LOVE this project. AGS mini-golf. Soon that guys multi-player plugin will come in handy.

MAN, sweeeet. This is the new RON.

:D

Sorry, childish developer excitement.

Moox

this minigolf game can lead to other games, such as bowling

What im really hoping to see is turn based stratagy lol
