To whom it may concern...
Giga Games, Sundays 10.04. & 17.04.
22:00 Berlin (GMT + 1)
I've read they will show the engine, tutorials, etc. Furthermore some of the moderators will try to create an own, short AGS-adventure.Ã,Â
I dont get the channel on Comcast, so I will be unable to tape it, but if anyone else can, by all means, please do.
I remember Giga Games. What a dorky show. Either way, that's good news for AGS.
All right! Any chance of anyone recording it? I want to see it.
yeah, someone should record it so we can all see it.
Good news for AGS :)
QuoteI've read they will show the engine, tutorials, etc.
Wow, it would be so cool if they would also mention the "Making an RPG with AGS" tutorial which was written by me :D
P.S: Guess the file size would be too large if somebody records. Could the person, who would record it, separate the files?
How about a BitTorrent file of the show?
I wouldnt mind hosting it, i just need the file, if its worthy enough of us all watching it.
and it would be uploaded faster than the GTD caught on video.
So no-one taping this?
I babelfished this page: http://www.giga.de/index.php?storyid=117668 Seems like it came out today, the 10th of April.
I went to their site checking to see if they had a clip from the show to post, but I couldn't find anything.
Damn, I've missed it. Rerun in 45 minutes.
Edit:
NOW!
Did anyone tape it? And was it good. What did they show?
They are developing a game called "GIGA Mansion", using the Monkey Island-style GUI by LucasFan.
They talked about importing sprites, setting up views and showed how to position characters, draw walkable areas, draw walkbehinds and how to make simple puzzles like picking up and using a paper clip to open a locked door. Nothing special.
Bad: The AGS editor crashed on-air. :(
Next week they're going to show more of the game itself.
Edit: Spelling
QuoteBad: The AGS editor crashed on-air.
That is bad indeed, but nothing compared to that blue screen, Microsoft got, when they showed the 'new' Windows 98...
After all, I used to love and watch that show for like years, but now I don't have the time to watch it anymore and it also got kinda worse with time...
I should've watched it yesterday, but for some reason I keep reading those time-critical threads always when it's already too late... *sigh*

It's a live show?? Or are they too cheap to rerecord?
I don't remember the last time AGS crashed - ain't that just the way though.
It's a live show, which has already created a lot of funny situations on stage and on air!

Hehe, superb :D
Anyway, it's interesting that they featured AGS on a channel such as this ... I've never heard of NBC Europe, is it a German general entertainment channel?

Yes, that's true. They usually don't show adventure stuff, and since they can hardly show shooters anymore (because of brutality and violence and stuff) they basically show rpgs and simulations...
Back in the day I liked it, because has a nice atmosphere with those guys to it and I also like the games they were reviewing.
It's on every weekday from 10:00 pm to 12:00 pm or from 22:00 till 0:00.
By the way, that is probably the first time ever I
answered a
question by CJ!!!11!!111!

They should've bought the full version.
:P
QuoteI've never heard of NBC Europe, is it a German general entertainment channel?
Yes, and it was VERY entertaining!Ã, :D

do you think it was caused by having the editor open too long, perhaps as they were preparing the segment ahead of time. I've heard of others here stating that their possible crashes could have something to do with leaving the editor open too long, but I have yet to have that similar problem.
Hah! A documented video of what they were doing before it crashed! If this doesn't help CJ fix it, nothing will! :=
so did anyone record it?
Quoteso did anyone record it?

Next Sunday (17.04.) they will present the AGS-site (again) and some fan games. I've read something about Fountain of Youth , Baphomet's Fluch 2.5, a Simpsons Fangame, MMM and their own AGS creation: Giga Mansion.
A simpsons fan game!?!?!?!? I wonder if they are gonna use my Template!!! This needs to be recorded.

Thanks for trying to share with us, however, your links don't work!
Can you correct and let us know? *Cheers* :)
Ok, so it's german? No English subtitles or anything? Just making sure - if it's all german I won't waste my time downloading, for comprehension shalt be beyond me at all times. :P
You need eMule or eDonkey for those links I think. Even so they didnt seem to work, but after searching in eMule, i found it.
it's a german show, and for me, GIGA was the start of my AGS career (hehe). I was a bit disappointed though when I saw their last AGS feature... they had a student who had to create a small "giga mansion" game, and some things he said were indeed wrong:
a) "AGS has no comfortable graphics editor- not really photoshop." AGS has NO GRAPHIC EDITOR at all, he referred to the way walkable areas are done; a bit misleading.
b) "The GUI looks bad" Well, it's a TEMPLATE to get you STARTED, no?
Anyway, I was happy to see that AGS still is strong even here in germany, land of strategy board games, and it's always fun to see a show where a guy with no AGS experience shows that a small game can be done easily.
The response to that show is unbelievable. The german AGS-Forum at "Adventuretreff" now is full of "noobs" who ask basic questions without even reading the help-file ;)
Luckily the same phenomenon wasn't "enhanced" here, at least for now. :=
If they flood my Beginners' Forum, so help me God, I will have to kick some ass. ;)
Or at least keep the forum on a tighter leash until it subsides. But I doubt it'll ever happen.
OT but, LOL Rich. Websites are best with content :P
Glad I dont have an ags website. I just upload my games to my Transformers Website. Less people visit that way ;)
On this site (http://adventurecorner.de/filebase_category.php?category_id=1913&limit_page=50&page_number=1&order=desc) you can get the first two shows about AGS and its games now. They have a small and a large version for each. The downloads may have a waiting loop. The first show was mainly about AGS (and how you can crash itÃ, ;) ) , the second about fangames (Broken Sword 2.5, FOY, Simpsons, MMM…)
