Just a thought but it would be nice to create some sort of AGS RSS feed or something based around the forums, where a user can select forums to be constantly updated on.

I don't know how this would work, but i would find it very usefull because I use google IG and have all my RSS feeds for various websites and comics all as my homepage, if an AGS one could be made so that I can constantly check new posts in various forums.

Would anyone else find this useful?
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.

Well, you can already get notified of new replies to topics and of new topics. Currently I get notified of new topics in Techie, this board and Completed Games, plus all posts I make or reply to.

Of course, this doesn't work with all posts, and it should, and it makes me think it might be broken somewhere, but I've posted about this before and no one cared so I assume no one will now. :P

you could code one yourself. use bash! BASH! don't listen to scotch and aga! >:|
just create a cron job, curl an url like http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?board=1.0, use sed to filter all lines but the ones having something like <a href="http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=16004.0"> in them, get the url and thread title. then paste everything into a rss feed.

sounds tempting. i may try that later 8)

just create a cron job...

But please make sure you know what you're doing if you do this. There are a few IP's currently banned from this website because they were constantly re-downloading the same forum pages...

As for the original question, I believe SMF 1.1 will include RSS support so we'll see what happens when that comes along.

While we're on this bandwaggon of feature requests for the forum, I was wondering if SMF has a subscribed threads feature like vBulletin does where you can subscribe and look over certain thread when they're updated and such instead of browsing for them all time.

Becky

Edmundo, I believe you can be notified of replies to threads you want by clicking on "Notify of Replies" at the top/bottom of the thread you are viewing.  They'll be listed under your profile on the Notifications and Email page.

Sam.

Bye bye thankyou I love you.
