EDIT: Oh, I forget to mention. This is meant to be an alternative to the "AGS in the media" thread, and an attempt to have all such material in the same place, catagorized and archived.
AGScene! (http://agscene.blogspot.com/)
...is a new blog dedicated to keeping track of print (and web) reviews of games made with AGS.
And it needs...YOU! :o
Well, it needs non-UK AGSers, particularly those from english-speaking countries (USA, Canada, Australia, etc) who have access to gaming magazines from their own countries, and who could scan and upload any print reviews of AGS games (I know that the US editions of PC Gamer and Games for Windows have featured AGS games in the past) for posting on the blog. I pretty much have the UK covered.
The blog would also welcome print reviews (not web-based ones) from non-english speaking countries. In the past many AGS games have featured in Level magazine and such, and scans of these would be much appreciated.
I know not all of you would buy gaming magazines and the like, but if those who do (and have access to a scanner and the time to upload a jpg of the review) could post anything they find in this thread I would be most grateful. You would of course get a credit on the blog.
Thank you. :)
PS: Suggestions and opinions of the blog are also welcome.
Well, I could upload several articles from german magazines, about Apprentice I & II and 7DAS, but you're only looking for english magazines, right?
"The blog would also welcome print reviews (not web-based ones) from non-english speaking countries."
Ah, okay, thanks. Here's the articles (from GameStar 08/2004 :=)
7 Days A Skeptic (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a23/FAMILIAR_QUEST/7d2.png)
Free translation:
"Friends of classical Point-and-Click-Adventures should take a look at 7 Days a Skeptic. In a distant future, mankind just couldn't stand living on earth anymore and started to settle in space. The Mephistopheles is a science vessel, which is exploring the Caracus galaxs with a crew of six persons. After a few days, the team discovers a strange metal box floating through space. In contradiction to the Federation's orders, the captain pulls it on board for research. This is where the game starts for you: Playing as the crew's psychologist Dr. Jonathan Somerset, you investigae the strange events on board and take care of the crew. To move through the spaceship, click the respective spot with the cursor. If you come acros something interesting, you can open a menu via the right mouse button and choose several actions. The settings menu appears when you touch the screen top with your mouse.

Apprentice 2 (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a23/FAMILIAR_QUEST/ap2.png)
Too lazy to translate right now :P
(please excuse the poor quality, my scanner kinda sucks)
Thanks, Akatosh, this is exactly what I'm looking for. :)
The quality is grand, so don't worry about that. I thought about asking people to translate the articles too, but I figured that might be a bit much to expect. So extra special thanks for translating.
As I said, non-english print articles are fine (with or without a translation) as long as I have the name of the magazine and the date issued (but again, it's not essential).
Thanks a lot.
Small update bump.
*Added capsule reviews of The Blackwell Legacy and 6 Days a Sacrifice from PC Format UK (August 2007).
Go here (http://agscene.blogspot.com/).
And the articles about AGS and some AGS games in Level Turkey, which I had commented about.

I am going to translate them as soon as possible.
Groovy stuff, Gord. Many thanks. :)
EDIT: Added to blog.
Necro! NECRO! THE SHAME!
...
The AGScene blog has been updated with some AGS-related goodness!
SEE! A print review of Diamonds in the Rough! SEE! Charlie Foxtrot! SEE! A print article on AGS! SEE! Miscellaneous other stuff!
FEEL! Good inside!
Go...NOW! (http://agscene.blogspot.com/)
Which issues of the magazines are these from? I'd like to add them to the AGS wiki's media page if you don't mind?
Sure. :)
The PC Gamer stuff is dated August 2008 (DITR and Charlie Foxtrot) and July 2008 (A years free gaming).
The PC Zone stuff is May (Thrifty Fifty) and June (AGS feature)...I think. I only saved those pages, and they don't print the date at the bottom of each page like PC Gamer. Definitely 2008, though. :-\
O_o Princess Marian one of the top 6 AGS games? ;D ;D ;D ;D
Hah. I love how PC Zone put this big screenshot from Blackwell Unbound in there but didn''t say what game it came from. :)
Meanwhile, six months later...
I have a stack of stuff awaiting scannage, and I've been very lax with blog update...age. The following will appear as soon as I get a chance:
Four page "Ben There, Dan That!!" feature from PC Gamer (With added Lemmy and Binky).
Various appearances of of various games(!) :-\
The Ivy's appearance in PC Gamer.
Some PC Zone bits.
A bit about CJ.
Um..some bits labeled "Misc" and "Other"...¬¬
*sigh*
It'lll be here soon. Soonage.
Hello!
New stuff has been posted on AGScene (http://agscene.blogspot.com/)! Please peruse and enjoy!
SSH: I missed that comment you left back in February :-[ (!) Unfortunately I don't have a scan of that issue. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Wow, thanks LimpingFish! That's the first I'd seen of that interview in print. :)
Helloooo, new Facebook picture...
Nice update! Is it possible to "follow" your blog? I can't seem to find the button anywhere... :-\

Mods, if you are following from Blogger:
-go to you Blogger homepage (or 'Dashboard' for some reason),
-scroll down to the 'Reading List'
-look for a 'Manage' button.
-Then on the next page, click 'Add', and it will let you enter the URL of the blog you want to follow.
Great, thank you stupot! :)
New post!
Find much scanned goodness contained within! Such as...RON, Quest for Glory II, Dave Gilbert's face, D.Duck, The McCarthy Chronicles, and more!
Go...NOW! (http://agscene.blogspot.com/)
I only discovered the blog right now. Great to have something like this.
Here's an archived pdf version (http://www.gameland.ru/magazines/si/292/) of a Russian magazine that interviewed Dave Gilbert.
There's also TGP coverage inside and it seems they write about AGS games (and other indie adventures) quite a bit.
Cool find, Ascovel. Always appreciate content from magazines that aren't within purchase range. :)
Except for a handful of early contributions, the blog is usually limited to the larger UK gaming magazines. It means we could be missing out on some European and Eastern-European coverage, seeing as adventures usually enjoy healthier media exposure in those markets.
I've never heard of GameLand, so I'll be downloading a few of these to see what I can see. Thanks for the heads up.
As I mentioned in AGS in the media thread, There were 2 articles about AGS games in Russian GameLand magazine I found so far:
Downfall (July 2009): http://www.gameland.ru/reviews/45714/
Blackwell Convergence (Sep 2009): http://www.gameland.ru/pc/the-blackwell-convergence/reviews/46498/
Also, one guy found Quest Fighter 2 game in another russian magazine, "Навигатор игрового мира" ("Game World Navigator"). Unfortunately he could only photograph pages in low quality; currently I am trying to find online version.

As I mentioned in AGS in the media thread...
Gah! You did indeed. Must have slipped my mind. Sorry 'bout that.
Anyway, I've added the print versions of those GameLand articles to the blog, along with the the two from the issue Ascovel pointed out:
Downfall review.
The Blackwell Convergence review.
Interview with Dave Gilbert.
Time Gentlemen, Please! review.
Find them...here! (http://agscene.blogspot.com/)
I got 4 pages in the Russian "on paper" magazine last summer ( not being big-headed here but I was damn proud!)including game review and interview with a large photo of my ugly face:). Just one page in French magazine... :P
I had scans somewhere... I'll see if I can find them:)
Wow, didnt know that Dave spoke Russian! :)
Not overly related, just a theory - the up-coming Jonathon Creek special is about "horrors" that occur in a house owned by someone called Hugo. And after watching the trailer I nearly pee'd myself with suspicion over how it seemed to be echoing ideas from our own Le Chateaux Macabre movie.
Just co-incidence, or is the writer a lurker here somewhere? ;)
