Looks like AGS is kicking some butt in the Best Freeware Development Tool category.

Kinoko is also under the Most Promising Freeware Programmer.

isnt there a big difference between programming and scripting. people who write the actual game engine are the programmers. the rest of us just scripts a bit here and there.
edit: haha, i just read some of the other awards, and its seems they dont play a lot of adventure games themselves, judging by their choices.

Are any of our games in the "Best Freeware Adventure" section?

EDIT:

Apologies if:
Adventures in the Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment
Galaxy Lander (Arcade Adventure)
Minds Eye
..are AGS games, I've been away for a while.

The first sounds like something Pesty would knock up because she's got the afternoon off.  The second sounds like something ProgZMAX would do because he's got a tea break and the third sounds like something David Bowie's manager would cook up to rake in some more cash.

Uh, actually Spleen...The third one is my game -_-.  I'll give your regards to David, though.

[shameless plug]Friends, Romans, Bowie fans....Help me beat Galaxy Lander by casting your vote for Mind's Eye![/shameless plug]

I voted for Mind's Eye, and now that's it's been associated with David Bowie, I'd vote for it a hundred times over :)

FoY and Amulet of Kings are nominated in the "most promising freeware games" section.

Congrats to the rest who are representing the AGS community so well!

If you write a game in javascript or vbscript, have you scripted or programmed it?

They are scripting languages, yet require programming knowledge. Same as scripting in AGS, you still need to know the concept of programming. It involves variables, conditional statements etc.

oh, come on, chris jones is the only one who does real programming around here. the rest of us just call a few functions and add a little bit of scripting, and a tiny bit of programming for the things that the engine doesnt do for us immediately.
if you want to give a reward  for programming, give it to someone one who actually wrote the whole engine for his game.
anyway, im not going to get in a heated discussion, so im not going to say anymore on the matter. we aggree to disaggree. i have programmed for 5 years before i saw AGS, but im sure i could have written a game without any programming knowledge in ags, since everything is already done. (and im talking about the hard parts, like the graphics programming and collision detection and stuff)

I'll be casting my vote, and like one of the posters above, the Bowie-reference would drive me to vote over and over again for a very considerable amount of time. :D

Darth you got my vote, for a lot of reasons but the main one is this: Amulet of the Kings is very promising.

On another more mean note, KQIX, seems to be getting 3 (!) votes so far. Ahhhh... Too much publicity if you ask me. ;)
