Just wanted to share mockup with you all, it's an idea my brother and I had for a Lovecraft inspired game, styled after EOB and Lands of Lore. It'll probably never get past the mockup phase, so I thought why not shed some daylight on it before it gets tucked away for good.
Classes would have been stuff like medicine man, firefighter (starts with a fire axe) etc. +1 beaded vestments and moccasins. Long rifles and pepperbox pistols. A detailed character generation system and leaning more towards sand-box roleplaying style than EOB would have been the order of the day.

AWESOME!!

Now back to work!!!
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

You'd probably want to optimize the text area since games like that are text-heavy, but aside from that I like it.  It sounds like a project worth investing some time on!

I love Lovecraft, It's a shame Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of ice are so lame.
I have an idea for a Lovecraftian game, but it's not more than an idea.  ;D

Good luck with your project!

Well I think your style definitely fits HPL type story/game. Btw. that city looks like it came from a Discworld novel cover, I think those are Josh Kirby's illustrations.
If something comes to pass, you can count me in at least as a tester or quest ideas or something.  ;D Don't why I didn't try Echo bazaar already.

And I don't know how many people have this opinion, but I think I like the worlds and ideas that Lovecraft inspires more than his actual stories. While the style is fun to read, most stories have weird structure and, at least to me, sound a bit "unpolished". But it's not "polish" as in it's reflected in the quality, just that while today's stories are mostly very formulaic, it's still kind of a habit to read them, while Lovecraft and let say Poe and AC Doyle offer a view into a different story telling atmosphere.
Especially since steampunk appeared, add to that horror, urban fantasy and similar topics, all this things really spawned from those and similar ideas. Even if you mention Lovecraft, people who read his works (and many who didn't) know what kind of a world it is....
ups, it's late and that was a bit of a ramble, I apologize.

I am a fan of everything you've mentioned and, as usual, art is exquisite. Thumbs up! I quote progz in the text area.

@Dual

Hey, I made the putty icons today jeez!

@Anian

Josh Kirby is the man. I'm surprised how much that illustration calls him to mind (A lot of the non UI stuff, including that city, I did ages ago for the now defunct indie RPG 'Cyclopean').

@Everyone else

Thanks for the kind words, although I doubt I'll ever get this project past the idea phase. A lot of the graphics would be kinda dull to paint (walls, walls, walls) and the code is way to much for me. Plus, I have a better idea for my next game anyway:)

Wrongthinker and anticitizen one. Utterly untrustworthy. Pending removal to memory hole.

Good job! I love those graphics!
In other hand, I'm not sure if Cthuluh and Dungeon Hacks fit too much together. But if you make a game out of it I'll definitively play.
"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe. Destroyed pigeon nests on the roof of the toolshed. I watched dead mice glitter in the dark, near the rain gutter trap.
All those moments... will be lost... in time, like tears... in... rain."

Is it time to make a group on Steam yet?  ;D
Though I'm not sure if multiplayer would work, not everybody reads at the same speed etc.

Damn, I'd really like to play this kind of game (I won't mention higher resolution, I promise  ;D ). Been playing Echo Bazaar (unpaid ad: pm me for friends to play with) for a few days and I am kind of dissapointed, by the lack of stories and variety it offers so far. Don't get me wrong, some of the ideas are inspiring and cool, but it's a lot of grind in the way, maybe I was expecting a more...can't believe I'm saying this, but I wanted to read more while playing a game. This game would probably have more atmosphere.
