Hi, I'm new to the boards and to AGS but I was wondering if there are any current projects remaking King's Quest III.  I know there was someone working on it at one time but it was canceled/put on hold.  If there isn't anyone currently doing it I am pretty interested in trying!  I've done a VGA background of the spider scene for practice; you can see it here:

If anyone is interested in joining the project let me know!

I remember someone talking about it, and working on it for a long time. Then, we never heard from him. Search the forums, and if you find the guy PM him.

Hm. I've read the thread that was pointed out and it seems not very productive (mostly flames).
Since the original message got edited out by mhawk and replaced by a 'permanently on hold' message it's hard to tell what it's about.
One thing I'm curious about though (if you don't mind me asking) is why Erpy requested that mhawk should pretend that KQII+ never existed. Why is that, KQII+ has a very good plotline and it would be interesting if a theoretical KQIII+ tied into it. Imho of course and I may well be missing parts of the earlier conversation so sorry if this is a stupid question.

AGA

Maybe Tierra have an idea of what will happen in their KQIII+, and should they ever decide to release their own version, they wouldn't want it to be too similar to MHawk's version...

Well seeing as how the project is not MHawk's or Tierra's, that is in fact Sierra's game, I don't see why Nemo has to wait around asking for permission. May whoever makes the best version win.

Personally, I'm looking forward to someone making a new version of KQ3, as I love the King's Quest series. I hope everything turns out well, Nemo. Keep us posted.

---Edit---
By the way, your cave looks absolutely amazing! Way better than what Tierra did with their remakes (no offense to them, their remakes were fantastic).

Tarison

Go for it! KQ3 was always my favourite of that particular series, anyway :)

I wish you the best of luck in re-making KQ3.  Don't give up on it, and i look forward to playing it in the future.

Some updated graphics would be nice, and a GUI should take some of the parser frustration away.  If you decide to throw some original elements in there as well, most people here will be happy to comment/critique 'em to make them fit in with the KQ world.

AGA

And do something about the path from Mannanan's...

I believe MuzlakOofmay from the Tierra/AGDI forums (presumably the same as MHawk?) was working on it.  He put it on hold, because it was unclear whether or not AGDI would pick up the project.  I doubt AGDI would remake it.  Their next project after QFG2VGA is apparently going to be an original game.

Right now, Muzlak is working on a KQ4VGA remake with his own game engine: http://www.nancycarterdesign.com/spongefactory/

I think Erpy made that comment because of Daniel Stacey's (the storywriter for KQ2VGA) opinion that any KQ3 and KQ4 remake should be basically untouched storywise.  I, on the other hand, think close collaboration with Daniel Stacey and AGDI would be better, since both KQ3 and KQ4 could benefit from enhancement.

There was a short KQ3VGA demo awhile ago.  Look around for it, if it's still available.
