Does anyone have the windows version of QFG 4 1/2? I looked online and all they have is that stupid DOS version, which doesn't work with XP.
I also tried the site, which was down.
HELP ME! :'(
Anyway, please email it to me at webspider202@hotmail.com
google for dosbox
Doesn't work.
why doesnt it work then? if you give us details then we may be able to help.
I just get a black screen. I wait for a long time. Nothing. Could you just email me QFG 4 1/2? PLEASE? Everyone says it's really great.
no i couldnt. read the dosbox manual. Thats all it needs.
And if you cant even get that to work then try 'dragging'n'dropping' the game executable into dosbox.
How do I "Drag and Drop" ?
*sigh*
click and hold on the game file, keep holding and then move it over the dosbox exe. Then let go.
Or you could use the dos commands, but i dont think you'll be able to do that.
I tried it, but it said it was missing some weird file that started with a G and had a lot of numbers in it.
Why dont you go on a peer to peer network and downlowd it, If its abandonware then your not breaking the law.
Just go to http://qfg2001.cjb.net/ and download the Windows 2000 version, which should work on XP.
(right now the website seems to be down, but try again later)
It's almost always down, that's why I need someone to email the windows version to me.
Maybe QfG4.5 could be hosted on the main AGS games server along with all the other games in the index? At least, I thought there was such a thing, sorry if I'm confused there.
Because I have trouble downloading it as well (windows or dos version, I don't care). I've seen numerous other sites that say thay host QfG4.5, but they actually just link to the original site.
Oh and by the way, can someone tell me where do I find QfO please?
Did you search google? It might not work, but you could ask LucasFan for it, though.
Just did a quick look over at Home of the Underdogs, it looks like they have it (well, at least the DOS version?)

I never d-loaded yet, so not sure if thier download works or not. But, worth a try I guess.
I tried that download, but it was the DOS version.
Yay! Thanx!
Doesn't ANYONE have the windows version? I really need it. Well, actually, I just wanna play it since everyone else talks about it.
This was the only thing I could find ...
[li]Quest For Glory IV @ Gamezone (http://www.gamerzone.com/uhs/qfg4.zip)[/li]
. I didn't dl and/or test it.Ã, So I don't even know if it's the Window's version.
That's just the UHS file for QFG4. Doesn't anyone have QFG 4 1/2? It's driving me nuts!
If we all tell you it's Crap will you feel better? I've not played any of the Quest for Glories, Is it worth getting them?
Yeah, the QFG games are true adventure classics. If you start looking for them now, AGDI may have the remake of QFG2 out by the time you finish the first. (Fingers crossed)
QFG 4.5 isn't half bad either.
Is it possible that no one ever compiled a WIN version of QFG4.5?
Okay, after a little trial and error, I got the available version ofÃ, QFG 4.5 working with Windows XP. Here what I did:
Double-click on your "My Computer" icon (or Right-Click on "Start" and select "Explore"), then navigate to and open up the folder of where you have QFG 4.5 game saved on your computer.
Look for the QFG.exe file.
Right click on the QFG.exe file.
Select "Properties".
Select the "Compatibility" tab.
Check the box for where it says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
and from the drop-down menu select "Windows 2000".
then "OK".
Then double-click on the QFG.exe file and it should run fine now in your Windows XP (at least it works fine for me that way).
Let me know if it works for you. If not, try adjusting some of the other "compatibility" settings and see if you can get it to run.
Good luck.
I tried that, but it didn't work at all. The graphics are all messed up. The're all multicolored blocks scrambled everywhere.
Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't this (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/kbview.php?id=22) work?
I don't know which version of AGS it was made with, but here are some download links:
ags_215_sr3.zip (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ags_215_sr3.zip)
ags_221.zip (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ags_221.zip)
ags_231.zip (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ags_231.zip)
ags_255.zip (ftp://a-v-o.selfhost.de/ags_255.zip)
ags_256d.zip (ftp://a-v-o.selfhost.de/ags_256d.zip)
I tried those, they didn't work either.
Maybe your computer just can't run it?
I'm getting hold of The VGA remake of the first. Looks fairly cool.
My system can't run DOS AGS games on XP, they look all screwed up with the whole scrambled image. BTW, check your PM's, I've got to ask you something.
Try getting the latest video drivers for your GFX card. Also, try running the ags windows setup tool and runnign the game in windowed mode.

SSH, did you read the entire article? I said I only have DOS version, so I can't run it it windowed mode.Ã, Also, my GFX card is pretty new. I just got it last month, cuz my old one crapped out.

they are supposed to be like that ::)
also, SSH meant update your Graphics card drivers, your gfx card maybe new but the drivers could be 2 years old.

QfG1 Remake
...Are "abandonware" links to IDSA copyrighted games allowed here? Even if so, Mephistophilis, what does this have to do with finding a Windows version of QFG 4.5?
Abandonware links are ok here, because it's often the only way to get the game. Warez links (games less than 5 years old), on the other hand, are not.
Webspider asked me for it. I'll tread carefully concerning Abandonware and Warez then.
use VDMsound.Install it then right-click the QFG 4 1/2.exe file and choose run with VDMS.
Now it should work

Yes! It works! Thanks, guys! ;D
