I haven't, but I'm curious.
Looks... different... but interesting.
SHAWNO NEWS FLASH: Rodekill.com, not updated because I suck at animation. Long story.

Yeah, i bought if for my Xbox on Saturday and it's not too bad of a game.Ã,  I don't think you could really classify it as being an adventure game anymore.Ã,  It's now just mindless mini-games and trying to seduce every woman that Larry Lovage meets.

This game is rated M and there is alot of swearing and sexual references too, and probably will offend some people.Ã,  But i am enjoying it at the moment, and i think the graphics are pretty good too boot also.

Don't come into the gameplay thinking it's gonna be the Larry of yesteryear because you will be sorely dissapointed.

I think it's pretty funny, but it's not an adventure game at all. Just a bunch of minigames. Someone should remake it into a proper adventure :)

Def That is the best idea i've heard this game would be awsome as an adventure.

I bought it for x-box and could not stop playing it.
As all have said it is not an adventure but it is still fun. ( altho a little on the easy side)

As with all larry games it is soly based on sex. The 3d envronments are actually really well done in the cartoon style. Some of the character animation is a bit blocky but the way their bodies move as they talk is kinda cool.

As for the game play. it is sometimes tiersome but the plot (and mindless CG boobies) seem to keep you playing.

As all heve said if you go in looking for a mirror of the old ones you will be let down.
But if you are looking for some fun (Which is what games are for) plus a few references and throw backs to the larry we all know and love this is deffinatly a fun game to play.

as a suggestion I would not buy this for pc. it just seems like the mini games that make up the games bulk would be boring.Ã,
I bought the xbox version and i have to say this game is great for getting all your pals around and playing.

That being said, I need help.

I beat the game but I havent finished with one girl (tilly i think her name was)
anyway I cant find accessories for the snazzy suit..

Scummbuddy

i bought it for the pc a couple days ago and am having a blast.
what am i missing by not getting it for my xbox? i also only found it for the pc in my best buy, so i figured maybe the xbox version was delayed, and i left with the pc version.
it was 30 bucks, plus i had a gift card lying around, so i figured, why not?  is the xbox the same price? id assume so.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

They (Gamespot) say the PC version is the best one because the loading times are shorter.

auhsor

Well it's been banned here in australia. Not that I'd be getting it anyways.

well thats cool that the pc is still fun

My only thought was is may be odd on pc controling some of the minigames

also pc is actually cheaper by 20 bucks

AlbinoPanther

Hey people that is not a adventure!!! Shame they be.They ruin a brand of Larry!!!
Hate runs through my vains, really respected Al Lowe but now... Al you and all the crazy action games world go to hell!!!!

cpage

1. I have no flipping clue what the hell you just said.
2. Al Lowe had nothing to do with this game.

Krazy

Oh my god please don't insult Al for something he didn't even do. He wanted to make his own Larry 8 (adventure) game but he was fired.

Wow, I hadn't realized it had been banned in Australia. About typical for this country, though.  ::)

From: http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/mag.dyn/News/8443.html
"Leisure Suit Larry Banned in Australia

After banning Manhunt in Australia two weeks ago, the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) has struck again, refusing classification for Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude.

Published by Vivendi Universal Games, the latest Larry game sees the rebirth of the classic adventure series published by Sierra On-Line in the 1980's and '90's, and follows the "extra curriculur" antics of Larry Lovage, nephew of the original games' protagonist Larry Laffer.

The OFLC's report said the game contains "obscured and/or implied sexual activity and obscured and partial nudity involving stylised, animated characters." These depictions occur in "full-motion video sequences" and include instances such as Larry receiving below-screen fellatio from Koko. "Sucking sounds are heard," said the OFLC.

It is now illegal to import, rent, or sell the game in Australia.

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude is due for release in New Zealand in early November, but has yet to be rated by the NZ OFLC. Fortunately this country has a more enlightened rating system than our neighbours across the ditch, and the title is likely to simply get an R16 or R18 rating rather than being banned here."

Tch, you Australians ban everything, and if you don't you'll edit bits out:
GTA, Manhunt and now Larry.
Nope not played nor am I planning on, the past will keep me going for a while yet.

I played the game for a good number of hours:

Here is an easy breakdown.

Walk around in 3d.
There isn't a health bar but there is a confidence and an alcohol meter.
Dialog options are chosen by a mini-game at the bottom of the screen, depending on which obstacles you hit with a swimming sperm.
Dance Dance Revolution to seduce women.Ã,  (?)
Bounce quarters to subdue women with alcohol.
Sometimes run around to avoid goons.

It didn't impress me too much.Ã,  I respect them bringing it back to try and interest new gamers.Ã,  I'm tempted to play it again, but not buy it.

I think this is a bit of a one player party game. Fun when you're drunk alone, but has nothing to do with adventure elements like solving puzzles and an interesting story.

I think this game is like Conker's bad furday. I loved it, but the sales were below expectations for a Rare game.

Still, I'll buy it.

I wish Al Lowe would make an amateur freeware LSL Lust in space. But since he doesn't have the rights to Larry, this would be a legal deathtrap.

I'm still think about whether i should buy it or not, but judging from the demo it looks like fun. I like controling system, dialogs are great, graphics are mucho funny and surrounding just look amazingly alive- with lots of nice touches and details (a party room with administrators knocking on loud-music-busting door... fun). On the other hand i wish there would be some puzzle solving... interface looks very adventurish, so i'm surprised to read there are no real puzzles in whole game.

Still, i was never really a true fan of Larry games, and this one looks like it will be more fun... or at least more dynamic, thanks to nicely fleshed out 3d world.

You are wrong. There was talk about getting him involved (after fans became upset), but it never got anywhere. To quote Al: "I have not had, and will not have, any part in Magna Cum Laude." (follow the link to read all Al has to say about it).
