"Super Beasts" Game

Hi community!

I just thought I would share a link here to an Escape The Room game I made as a class project with some very imaginative kids I teach at my school.

The name of the game is "Super Beasts" for reasons which will become clear as you play...

The game was created with an online tool that you can also access at the same site should you wish to:

CLICK HERE TO PLAY "SUPER BEASTS"

It was quite a challenge and a lot of brain-frying work and fun to complete the game with all the crazy ideas and puzzles we mapped out in class, but I hope that it was worth it and that some of you might play it and also experience some challenging fun as well.

We tried to pack as much story, puzzles and interaction into what is still an interface in development and this was an often hair-pulling but also enjoyable challenge in itself.

There is also a voting option at the top of the game screen and, as a good voting turnout can result in more game slots available for our classes to use (and potentially more young-uns growing up interested in game development), please be as kind with your votes as you are able to be...

Well, I hope this little point-and-click adventure-style effort can give you at least a half hour of enjoyment if possible.

SUUUUUUPER-BUUUUUUUNNY!!!

Am I missing something, or can you only use the left mouse button and have no access to inventory? ???

EDIT: Never mind, just found that the inventory is down under the room... need to scroll down. :-[

EDIT2: Half hour you say? I seem to be stuck... and it's been half hour since I found the inventory, so... I should be finished? :p

EDIT3: Ah! Finally finished. :) Thanks, nice game.

Spoiler alert!

What was the glue used for? And the folded cloth had no use either. And I sooooo wanted to open that stuck door! Either the crowbar or the knife should have been able to do something. :p
But what I missed the most was a bit of feedback for when something I tried didn't work.

The glue can be used to repair the pictures after you rip them, which is just for people who like to leave a place the same way they found it, as you can also put the folded cloth (which is supposed to be the panda picture you cut out) back in the frame. SO yeah, you can fix the whole art gallery room back to normal before you leave. It's just an Easter Egg.

The stuck door cannot be opened for complex reasons involving how the game-maker works. Originally it could be opened but I had to stick it shut so it could be used for another interaction.

YES! The lack of feedback from the game when you try to use a wrong item is one of the limitations of the game-maker at this stage of development: It only allows for a single interaction of one item per object, so yeah: only the right one. But wait, you ask, I'm sure I used more than one item on a single object during the game? Yes, but they were always the right item yes? That's because of the illusion of it being the same item. In fact I was swapping new items for old ones behind the scenes triggered by other interactions happening elsewhere in the game. It's pretty complicated. But yeah, having the "wrong item" feedback on an item that also needs a "right action" result is not currently possible with the way the game-maker works at this stage of development. Hopefully this changes in the future.

Cheers for the feedback, Cassie!

Ah! I did put the Panda picture back, but wasn't sure I was suppose to or not, cause I didn't knew if I was going to need it elsewhere (since I could pick it up).
The others, I guess I thought I had put glue on and nothing happened... Guess am not use to the use once and lose item from hand... cause I was just clicking to try every spot thinking I was testing my glue on the spots. (laugh)

Woah...Tabata you played?! I'm sorry I could not include a mouse in the game somewhere but could only work with available graphics included with the game-maker...

And it seems some guy called AprilSkies had a bash at it as well, eh? Well, good luck to whoever he is...

But Tabata....Woah!!! I feel honoured!

Tabata

Hey Mandle,

of course I did!
It's point & click â€" so it's right my cup of … ähem …  cheese
and I had really fun playing it

It's a big shame that there is no (super)mouse included
… but aside of that I'd call this project a total success.

My best regards for your 'team' (including their teacher) to come up and complete such a nice
game including some clever puzzles. You all can be very proud of this.

You and your students did a cool job!

It might have been nice to see a groupshot of the complete team before the game starts.
For players to see what a committed teacher with ambitious students is able to deliver
and as a wonderful memory for the team.

BTW....
That guy called AprilSkies...

FINISHED IT \o/ \o/  !!!!!

well ok with a little help from tabby, but that is not the point....

I'm a SUPERSLOTH!

SUPERSLOOOOOTH!!! Kinda makes me think of a really slow-moving, three-toed detective for some reason...

And cheers again Tabata: I will share your kind words with the students in question.

Yeah: a photo or somesuch would have been nice but the game-maker does not support such things yet: There are no customizable beginnings/endings although I suspect there will be in the future. The whole thing is still in its childhood if not infancy of development. Well, it's certainly no AGS but also I think it's not trying to be. If it could end up doing anything the creator wants it would have to become more complicated and less accessible to a wider range of people. I guess it would be best used by younger abitious game-devs (early teens) as a stepping stone into more complex stuff like.

Anyways: I ramble! Cheers again to all!

HOLY CRAP!!!

Super Beasts has gone viral!!!

Two days ago when I checked on the popularity it said 300 people had played and 28 had completed the game. The game had 22 votes.

So I checked again just now expecting maybe 320 plays, 30 completions, and 22 votes.

I went to the site unlogged in and saw 35 votes. I was amazed! Nobody ever votes, so 17 votes in 2 days blew me away!

So I logged in and checked on plays and completions:

And...JESUS!!!

3805 plays and 628 completions!!!

JAW-DROPS!

So I went on google to figure out where this surge came from and found:

THE GAME FEATURED HERE!!! (You have to scroll down a bit)

...as well as several other websites which feature Point and Click style games...

STOKED!!!

Cassiebsg

Congrats to you and the team! :-D
