Title: Ben Jordan Livestream Developer Commentary Saturday September 17
Post by: Grundislav on Sun 31/07/2011 00:42:57
UPDATE
About time I got back to doing these.  The earlier time worked out better and we got a nice turnout for Case 3, so I'll keep the same time for Case 4: 6pm EST/11pm GMT/ 3pm PST.

So if you're interested, go to http://www.livestream.com/grundislavgames (http://www.livestream.com/grundislavgames) this Saturday and watch!

Why would you do it at such a weird time?  ???

It was kind of short notice.  I'll do another one at a more reasonable time for Europeans next time.

Around 10pm is usually when i'm in my creative stride, perhaps you are too ;)

Unfortunately it is a bit of an odd time for those of us living on future time (aka GMT)=S I've already hit my 'wall' for the evening, but i've somehow managed to miss every single one of these Livestream thingies you kids are doing these days (sorry!), so I feel obliged to at least try to make this one.

I'll fuel myself with coffee and another play through of Case 1 to while away the next 45 mins. Don't expect me to be very coherent at that time in the morning though, i'll probably just watch.

We had a pretty good turnout! Next Saturday I'll be playing Case 2.  Tentatively I'm going to schedule it for 7pm EST/12am GMT so it's not so crazy late for everyone.

Sorry for having to use a sharehoster; but otherwise my traffic limit would be reached in no time ;D

It's about 2 hours and 15 minutes long and roughly 450 MB in size.

Thanks for an awesome commentary, Grundislav! And thank you so much for recording it, nihilyst!

I was lucky to catch the last 45-or-so minutes live yesterday after coming home from a party, but watched the rest of it today. Don't think I have played the original BJ1 since back when it came out - amazing to see how far you've come as a game designer since then, Grundislav. Extremely inspiring and funny to listen to and watch. Great audience participating going on in the chat channel too - will make sure to creat a livestream login myself for next time.

Looking very much forward to future commentaries!  Here's hoping for a BJ every Saturday night! ;)

I had a blast listening and watching while working on my own game!  Excellent inspiration.  I've decided to add a hillbilly narrator to Resonance.  Unfortunately, the time you chose for the next one counts me out since I can only really do it after I get the kids in bed.  Hopefully, you'll have a later one again at some point!

Downloading now. Will try uploading to YouTube. Check this space later.

UPDATE: Well, I was uploading, and then Firefox crashed because why the hell not. It finished uploading, the settings were saved, it was just processing and it was on 28% with 15 minutes left to finish, so it should still be working. It if finishes and works, I'll let you know.

Thanks for the stream, the cap and the upload. That was great, now I want to stream something too. Hmm... maybe a bottle of mayonnaise.
Oh well, great show anyhow. :D
Oh and jeez Drew, stop screwing around next time. ;D
That also goes for you Duals to a lesser extend. ;)

QuoteI've decided to add a hillbilly narrator to Resonance

I've always wanted to be a hillbilly narrator.  In fact, for the Salton Sea I suggested to Grundislav that the Crazy Prospector (me) narrate the game from his point of view, with all the hillbilly jargon I could muster.  He said no, and thus a grand idea did not come to pass, but that's okay.  There is a future for hillbilly narrators yet!

Edit:  Even better, for case 2 have the voice artists join you for an impromptu re-voicing of the game.  I'm totally up for that.

And you've never seen the X-Files?  Is that even possible?  Frank, if we ever get together in the US I'm bringing my X-Files collection and you'll watch seasons 1-4 if I have to glue your eyes open and give you a mountain dew+cappucino IV drip.

It was fun watching this yesterday/today!
So much fun I fell asleep halfway through it := Well, it was past 4 in the morning here and I hadn't had the chance to adjust my sleep patterns for this event...

Sadly, as far as I know, only the first half of this one could be recorded :'(

Unfortunately I was the one recording, but I was running out of space, so there are two cuts and we also start a bit later. I tried to free as much space as possible, and that was the best i could do. I promise to have saved some space on the next one, by removing some movies and games.

Anyhow.

Damn, I'm enjoying these commentaries so much that I really hated it when the BJ2 one ended prematurely, but I'm happy that you recorded as much as you did. Thanks Dualnames!

For whoever is gonna record the next one: Any chance that you could also capture the chat window like in the BJ1 recording?

Case 5 recording: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8WQ821NR

Unfortunately there were some technical difficulties, so there is no sound and video from minute 9:20 till 28:00 and no sound from about 1:49 h on. That means the whole day 1 is missing and parts of the after-game QnA. Sorry about that. But at least you can experience all cat wrangling that took place before the game started.

I guess I will try to record case 6 too btw. Simply because I don't feel like staying up till 2 am ;)
