Hi guys,
Which do you think is the "prettiest" AGS character ever drawn?
- the drawing must be perfect
- the animation must be perfect
- it must be complete (at least 4 walk views, ideally 8, ideally the talk view)
- try to think of 2 characters : the best low-res character and the best hi-res character.
- It shouldn't be a licensed/copyrghted character.
It's really a visual thing, here. It's not about the character's charisma.
I'd say Nelly Cootalot for hi-res. As for lo-res, probably something by ProgZ, but it's so hard to choose.
What's this doing in the Critics Lounge?

Seconded.
Well I thought it'd be better here than in the general talk because it's really about questionning the quality of the artwork. It's not something like "who do you think is the coolest dude in a game?"
However, if you feel it should be moved, then please moderators feel free to move it, and sorry.
The CL is exclusively for presenting some work of art.
Edit: A mod will move it eventually.

So what should I do? I don't think I can move the thread.
Lets not worry about where the thread should be!
I'm sure the moderators can work that out...

I'll second that. As for lo-res, there are so many - I liked the guy from The Infinity String.
I like Nelly too.
Downfall's lady characters were pretty as well.
Ben and Dan weren't too bad looking.

He's certainly more than OK, but not perfectly drawn. for example< his face on the side walk is not great.

And theres also the fact that he looks like Newman from seinfeld

Yes indeed. But the lady character who's the main character, even though she's well drawn, has practically no animation (the legs are hidden by the dress in a slightly awkward manner).
I think Mordalles did a fantastic job on McCarthy in terms of character animation.
The sprites were very simple but they matched the poorly done backgrounds nicely.
Progz's sprites tend to be excellent especially in terms of his colour selection but i dont like his animation style.. not enough frames IMHO.
Ben304 does an excellent job in terms of character design and his sprites are always clean and nice but his style is a little inflexible,. Although this is not necessarily a bad thing.
He is also excellent at the basic animations like walk cycles but lacks sometimes on the more complex animations.
Downfall had a very interesting art style.. it was very kinda gritty and disjointed.
This worked but i felt the sprites looked very 'messy' at times.
Abstauber deserves a mention. His pixel art is always a joy to look at.
Yahtzee's animation is certainly a plus although he tends to score more on cinematic flair and character design than actual raw spriting ability.
If I had to choose one above all others?
Probably 304.
EDIT: after re-reading the OP I realise i havent answered the question at all.. nevermind
apprentice 1 and 2. bigbrother's animation is amazing. :o just wait for the idle animation of Pib. (i think that's the character's name, haven't played it in years)
edit: i think it's low-res.
Yes it's low res ;) App 1+2 are two of the greatest AGS games ever.
All of the people and characters mentioned are great! Good job especially for mentioning Apprentice, Mordalles.
We should all get to work and try and do better! :D
No-Action Jackson had some very pretty and detailed animations (although I think it had occasional bugs, too). Nothing sticks in my mind, though. Maybe the character climbing out of the window?

Thanks for the very detailed answers. Especially by Calin.
I'll try to capture the animatins mentionned, I'd really like a discussion about their individual qualities.
I think the characters from A Second Face were all brilliant pieces of art.
