Hi
May I ask:
If you were to come across a game that had all the ingredients that for you made it the best AGS game you've played (or top 5) what would these ingredients be and why?
Cheers
Atmosphere, humour, gripping storyline, great characterisation, excellent voice acting, good use of sound effects, quality graphics, detailed animation, a variety of puzzle types and difficulty, made with talented people who put a lot of love into it.
Is that enough for you? :P
Bacon.
Cats.

And all of them as a TEAM. That'd make my day. It would make my YEAR.
bacon made from cats.
Thanks for all sensible replies.
To non-sensible replies: There are always a few retard idiots around.
Now I feel bad for derailing the topic :(

True.
Definitely bacon.
Guys, this isn't the rumpus room, please stay on topic.
What CaptainD said, and Gemini Rue is the only AGS game I've played that has fulfilled it. Besides that awful anime ending I didn't like but that's just me you know.
Also bacon.

An AGS Mega Crossover (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MegaCrossover) would be an awesome MAGS theme! Somebody (ie Ponch) win and set these rules.
As for the topic at hand:
1) Atmosphere is really important, although hard to nail down. It's part music, part graphics, part plot....
2) Believable or at least entertaining characters are also a must-have.
3) Smooth game-play is important: game-flaws like pixel hunts or unflagged puzzles are a huge turn-off.
4) Novelty. If I haven't played the game, but it
feels like I have, that's bad.
5) Pacing. I love game-world details, but don't hit me over the head with a 10 minute cutscene right off the bat. Get me involved and learning the world at the same time.
