4-verb versus 2-click interface?

That doesn't sound like a good idea. If you're using a 4-verb UI, you should at least be consistent. If players can't trust that the action that will be performed is what the cursor says, I think playing the game will be a frustrating experience.

I have to agree with Snarky: I would also feel like the rug had been pulled out from under me a bit if the game started choosing my icon actions automatically and arbitrarily from case to case.

Just stick with the 4-verb cycle...All will be fine: Especially with the uber-cool custom cursors you seem to have in the works...

Less risk of breaking the game as well is a huge bonus!

I've in the past made it so if you click on "nothing" you auto walk to that spot without a cursor change, this relies on an action-bar and reasonably sized hotspots to work, it seemed to work really well and is my prefered system with multiple verbs.

Ok, thanks for the input guys.  I'll just test out what exists and try to have an easy tutorial for novice point n clickers. 

@Mandel: Where did you here about these Uber cool cursors?  :)
