Yay, those dates work out splendidly for me, exactly what I was hoping for :). Brittens would end about 3 weeks before Mittens starts, so there should be no extreme AGSer exposure for anyone ;).

Assuming I finish college early July, Im up for any time after that. Unless it conflicts with Reading, which I believe Im going to again this year.

My birthday is July 23rd.  I expect cake.

Reading is August bank holiday every year, Jake. Not in July.

Brittens is going to be somewhere near Cardiff, Wales. Possibly in my home, if few enough people want to come, possibly at a campsite.

July sounds good to me.

Are you sure you want to even consider hosting this at your house  :o :o

M0Ds would no doubt almost break his neck in some re-enactment of last year's tree stunt...

And Layabout would end up sleeping in your front door hugging a crate of beer.

;D

I've had large (and I mean large) numbers of people stay in my house before, with minimal lasting damage.

I'm sure the average AGSer is capable of keeping their destructive urges under control for a week :)

LOL, Matt! Well - as AGA said those kind of things have to be controlled, take Mittens 2004 for example - had anyone tripped over inside they probably would've destroyed 2004 trinkets :P I won't be able to make these days, I've just checked my college term time and this year its from 18th April 2006 to 21st July 2006. It seems most convinient for the rest though, and I should definitely be able to make Spain :)

Layabout, you may notice that you and Spleen are both back-up BBQ operators - as I understand it, this is due to the high concentration of alcohol that seems to follow both of you around.

Not much of interest is going to happen at Brittens that won't at Mittens. We'll probably just sit around drinking tea and playing computer games for a week :P

People who are attending Mittens shouldn't worry about missing too much if they can't make Brittens :)

I guess it's worth answering this seriously.

Brittens tends to just be an excuse to hang out and chat, have some beers, visit the local attractions (don't know if Cardiff has any), play some games, and get food poisoning from some dodgily cooked burgers.

Mittens tends to be similar but on a larger scale. Oh, and it involves more exotic locations ;)

Perhaps not, but I do think we should do a headcount again in case it's too many people. Everyone has been quite vague so far... I'll write a list of who I think is coming, and we can correct/add to that.

Certainties:
scotch
AGA
CJ
LimpingFish
Spleen
Disco
Layabout
MattGoble
Creed Malay
Hotspot
Chicky
Hajo

Probable? Tell me.
Custard
Ashen
m0ds
DarkStalkey
Zoot
Magintz
Necro

Possible?
Petteri
RLacey
Ishmael

So that's 22 potentials, right now, anyone else wanting to come that I missed? Anyone on there can't come?
Ideally it'd be best to get as many people as possible out of the less than certain brackets, because it's in a house... with a certain and finite volume.

I wouldn't worry, if all else fails we can always use the Millennium Stadium, it should have enough space for an AGS Meet.

This is a very good point. AGA, is your garden big enough for us all to sit round the campfire/barbecue, or will we have to do it indoors?

Righto, I'm not coming, you can remove my name from the list.

The reason? Well, I have already hell lot of stuff planned for this summer (including two (2) AGS meetings) and I just happened to spend a nice amount of cash on stuff. And as it seems that I might start my studies next autumn, I'd love to have as much money on my bank account as possible by then!

But how nice that some of you wanted me to come so bad! I'll... buy you fellas a drink when we meet... next summer perhaps!

I don't quite know when I break up from college because sometimes it seems like it's the end of June and other times it seems like its the start of July. Either way, I will more than likely be able to come but won't know what dates until I reach them - so I suggest you keep room for me, though I can sleep in my car - as I will be turning up randomly :)

Staying at AGA's there aren't really any required costs, besides what minimum amount you can spend buying food at the shop.  I'm not sure what sort of stuff people would like to do... hopefully nothing too expensive because everything is going towards mittens for me too.  We have a house, so there's always stuff to do/watch/play if people want to skip out on some things.

The nearest train station is Taffs Well, you can walk to Brittens from there. (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=CF15+7PE+to+CF15+7QD&ie=UTF8=k&om=1)
You can also take a bus from Cardiff which stops just over the road from the house, but you'd have to make sure you know where to get off...

Yeah. Trains from Londonward stop at Cardiff Central, from where you can get a bus to right outside my house, or a train to the other end of the village (maybe half a mile).

The map SSH posted is correct, but it is a bit confusing the first time you go there.

Basically:
1. Leave the M4 at J32 and then go for the A470 North (which is about the 5th exit from the huge roundabout there).
2. Join the A470 and then leave it again at the first exit.
3. At the roundabout there, you have to go straight over as if you were joining the road again, but actually it's a wierd junction and the road dips and then comes back up into Taff's Well.
4. AGA's house is about a mile from there, on the left behind a bus stop and shortly before a speed camera.

Right, it looks like I can quite easily stop off at Bristol Temple Meads station on my way, so LimpingFish if you can get a bus from the airport to Bristol Station (which I imagine should be quite easy and regular) then I can give you a lift no problem.

If I make it...

I got a call from the Passport People (tm) this morning, telling me I'd have to replace the photo on my passport as the digital picture "fingerprint" thingie couldn't get a good reading off of it. Stand back ladies, Mr Jones is on the pull...

Well, it's looking like I won't be able to make it to Brittens this year (Although the sheep do sound tempting).  Heard from my solicitor that I have a completion date for my house move on the 31st July, so I can see myself being halfway through a nervous breakdown by the 3rd week of the month and certainly very skint.

Still, I will be there in spirit and look forward to seeing most of you at Mittens.  Those of you who won't be coming to Alicante, I will get you copies of the AGS Annual one way or another.

:D

Unfortunately the Irn-Bru bars have been discontinued, and these "Wham!" brew-flavour bars have took their place.Ã,  And as with all marketing gubbins they're "New and improved!".

Well they're not.Ã,  And they're nothing like the Irn-Bru bars of the day...so I've complained to McCowans.

Let's put it like this, you eat an Irn-Bru chewy bar you think of the Irn-Bru drink.

You eat one of these "Wham!" brew flavour bars and you think of a supermarket branded "Iron Brew" drink.Ã,  Aka: a cheap knock-off. >:(

Regards,

Yickle.

P.S. I couldn't find any Chupa Chup orange lollies.Ã,  Apple, various versions of strawberry, cola and others...but no orange.Ã,  So I got you two more generic orange lollipops.

And so, the dream dies... :'(

Due to passport delays, it now looks like I won't make it to Brittens. Not when I planned to anyway. If everything is cleared up before Brittens ends, I may be able to make an appearance during the later stages, but seeing as things haven't been going my way regarding Brittens, I won't make any promises.

I hope everybody has a good time, and thanks to Pumaman for offering to pick me up, and to AGA for hosting. I was looking foward to stealing some silverware from his house, but alas...

:(

Fish: if you can make it great, there'll be a lollipop waiting for you.  If not, I suppose I could always mail you one :)

In other news, my camcorder arrived and it's quite the cute lil purdy thing!  I'm not entirely sure The Law will allow usage of the camcorder at a karaoke venue (I'm thinking copyright law amongst others) so we'll just have to see about that.  But I'll be recording for everything else and when I get back home I'll transfer it to PC.

So for the time that I'm there, y'all will have "YicklePigeon Goes to Brittens 2006" by the end of the month.

Regards,

Yickle.

I know it may be a little last minute, but if I have a few spare days next week I may head down for a day or two if that would be ok, it's only £25 and 2 hours or so for me to Cardiff.

Anyway I gotta wait till tomorrow, maybe Saturday to find out though.

Doubt I will be able to because a new store has opened where I work and everything is UBER busy, I'll get at least two days off I'll try and swindle / bargain with the manager to get 3 days off so I can spend two - three full days with you people.

We have set up 24-hour webcam feeds from the Brittens-Brother House. However, as there are currently only two of us here, there's not much to see. If you're lucky though, you might get to see me sleeping later, since both cams are in my room currently.

Cam 1 (AGA currently) (http://www.agagames.com/Brittens2006/atticCam1.html)

Cam 2 (Disco currently) (http://www.agagames.com/Brittens2006/atticCam2.html)

As you can see, Disco gets the well-lit, less blurry cam.

Hmm, something's not right:

They're predicting hot, sunny weather for the whole of Brittens. We can't break with tradition like this...

Yay, Brittens starts today ^_^, though Creed, scotch, and other guest have been here since yesterday, and myself the day before that.

Also, I'd like to mention how fun Magintz-hosted Iverittens (say it five times fast) was. Tier was in attendence as well. After extracting me from Heathrow terminal 3, we went to a pub in Magintz's village, then a Pizza Hut and cinema in Uxbridge to see that new movie about pirates. Here are some images from the unwinding process-

Hmm, I've been going over a couple of things and it doesn't look practical for me to come afterall  :'( I have a mile long to-do list of stuff that I haven't done since moving into my new house because of too much work so I'll need at least a solid half day minum (if not a full day), which makes it pointless for me to come just for part of a day :(

Don't give up all hope as I still might be able to make it.

Well I got home fine...just almost skinted :( still I had a great night out and an adventure.  Next year, I'll save up and stay in a nice hotel where I can invite the ladies round :D

Speaking of the ladyfolk, when I reached Birmingham and I was just about to board the Manchester train, I noticed this extremely easy on the eyes petite young woman was struggling with this huge red mountaineering internal frame backpack almost the same size as her...and being the gentleman that I am I let her go in front and then charged in afterwards to stop the wave of people so *I* could get on :)

And of course what would be within my view? Chris and Disco can answer that one.

Anyhow, as the train approached Manchester Picadilly and I headed to the doors, we almost collided and I simply said "Ah, haven't we met before?" we started talking/giggling and I helped her with her bag (even taking into account my own!)...anyhow we gets to talking a bit more, comparing our cuddly companions (her monkey vs Mr. Flibble - NO CONTEST! :P ) and I walk away with both her MSN and her mobile number =)

Seems like someone up there is thinking "give the pidge a break!" :) And a very nice break it be! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

Regards,

Yickle.

P.S. At the Travel Lodge, I got like an hour's sleep or so...guess thats what watching the BBC Learning Zone does to ye ^_^
