The other thread (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=28051) was getting a bit long, and people might have missed the information that the dates were booked. So here's a new thread.
As the topic says, Brittens 2007 will take place from Monday 25 June to Sunday 01 July at my house, near Cardiff, south Wales.
I need to know how many people are planning to attend, so if you are, please post, and tell me for what times you'll be here.
Attendees:
AGA
Creed Malay
DaveGilbert
Fuzzpilz
Grundislav
Hajo
Hotspot (Jake)
LimpingFish (26-29)
magintz (25-29)
OneThinkingGal and ._. (Annie)
Pablo
Pumaman (CJ)
scotch
Sinsin

I received my plane tickets in the mail today! Excitement! I will be arriving some time on the afternoon of the 25th and staying through July 1st.
This sounds like fun.Ã, Are there rules, like you have to have been a member for a certain amount of time or completed a certain amount of games?
Not that it bother's me, I'll be in Japan. But maybe after I've established myself a bit more and am friends with you guys maybe I could come to a future event.
What actually occurs?Ã, Just hanging out and getting drunk?... Does everyone have to dress up as a character from an AGS game?
Be sure to post pictures afterwards... haha.Ã, :o
I touch down in Cardiff at (approx) 8 PM on the evening of the 26th and depart at (approx) 8 PM on the evening of the 29th.
Upon arriving at AGA's house, I will require the following:
One (1) "Welcome Fish!" banner, preferably made from shiny red card, held aloft by two nubile women, preferably of the naked kind.
One (1) propeller beanie, also red.
That is all.
EDIT: No it isn't. Anybody who has access to a Nintendo DS, please bring it with you! I desire drunken Bomberman and Cooking Mama sessions!
There are no real rules. And we don't do anything really, except hang out, go to bars, eat out, go for walks. Just... whatever.
Ahh, cool... count me in for Brittens 2008 then!
count me in!
I'll be there for the whole thing. Unless I get one or more visas rejected. :P
I'm in, and for the duration. Storm drain adventures and mountain climbing ahoy!
Also, someone will be bringing a copy of Katamari, right? :)
You know I'll be there, but I'm mentioning it in for people counting. I'll come at the start and stay until it seems a good time to go home.
You can never leave.
I'm in.
Thinking about it. It's pretty close to Holland, anyway.
Right now I have no idea when I'll arrive but I'll probably be there for the whole week. See you there, if my mother doesn't get all hysteric about me going to Wales all alone and won't let me go. (http://koti.mbnet.fi/paapeli/rsmiley/shifteye.gif)
As long as you don't mind my presence AGA i will be coming :)
Cardiff is near, so i will actually attend this time. Put me down as an definite.
I've booked the week off work, so barring any unforeseen circumstances I'll be there!
QuoteAre there rules, like you have to have been a member for a certain amount of time or completed a certain amount of games?
It's probably worth mentioning that (at least in the past) the minimum age has been 18 -- it's not a childcare centre :P
I'll be there, when depends on my exams.
Yes. boozittens. I mean; highly sensible, extremely civilised-ittens.
D'oh! As I suspected my course finishes at the end of that week, with an award ceremony which I effectively have to set-up and run. So I won't be able to make Brittens this year. Poopy poop for me, but you peeps have fun! :)
I'll try my best! And I'll try to bring Azadeh too, although we can't say anything yet with 100% certainty.
What about Helm and Goldmund?
M0ds.. Didn't I pay you to attend this year?
I should be there, assuming I can get a job.
Annie still needs to make me some tea.
You paid me to be somewhere dude, yes, so we'll have to arrange an alternative meet up. But, I'm not missing the award ceremony I scooped four awards in last year for Brittens, sorry. There is however a chance I could come up Thursday to Sunday.
Well, with just 2 months to go now, it's probably about time to make sure that AGA has ordered in a fair quota of sheep this year; last year's supply was very disappointing.
And also: time flies.
I'd like to come to the whole thing, if you guys will have me. I've got a couple of things to bring and show if we will be doing a showing off.
Oooh, I am in Wales hopefully in June.
Though I doubht I will have time to attend......
Sadly since I will be so close to. (barry).
If I CAN come, I will let you know ASAP.
Pablo is arriving at the airport a day early, so I'm going to take him for a day trip to London on the Sunday, before driving down to Brittens on the Monday. If anyone else wants to join us for that, you are of course welcome to do so.
When you say Day trip to london, do you mean you'll drive him around on a ring road where you can SEE london, but not get to it?
Can I come please folks
If so can i be put in the attending but not confirmed
Cheers
Sin
I'm back on the maybe list! Looks like I'm going to have a car now, so no excuse!! But, it will only be for the last 4 or 5 days.
Color me there.
Cuz, you know, I'm going.
I'll arrive in London at 10am and I'll be making my way to Cardiff. I'll show up at AGA's on Monday afternoon (the 25th), tired and jetlagged and demanding food.
I'm not sure how long I'll be staying there for, but I'll be there until at least Thursday. I scheduled my return flight on Tuesday the 3rd to factor in travelling/tourist stuff.
-Dave
I will be officially pick pocketting Dave of his Wadjet Eye fortune.
You've been warned!!!
:P
I hope you'll put that 25 cents to good use!
No, we don't rob him! We force him to tell us his secrets! Hard work?! Talent?! I don't buy it! He know's something the rest of us don't, and he's keeping it to himself.
I want answers!
I want the truth!
I can't handle...the...um...truth.

When i get to cardiff where do i go?? The nearest Pub or Field or what (PM a Post code if poss)
What does everyone recommend Car or Train i'm from north of manchester
Other than that Pencil me down as defo as im can definatly go YAY birthday PISS UP
If it's not too late, I may be able to make a showing. I'll add in a request for the time off at work.
Sinsin: I expect maps and addresses will be posted at some point, it's in a small town north of the M4 north of Cardiff. If you're travelling by coach or train you can book tickets to Cardiff, it's easy to get the bus and train from there on the day. By car you'd drive to Taffs Well.
I gonna have to say I cant come (luckely for all of you that are coming)
I gonna be to busy sorting myself out when I get to Wales around mid June.
So busy that you can't spare one night? :)
Last time I tried using that line I just ended up with the local radio station's Dates You Don't Want phone number.

Yea¨h.
I will be having alot to do 24/7 when I finally get myself over there.
And I really have to focus on sorting myself out to, cause I have to get myself a job so I can live there..
Or I will be pretty fucked up :-\
Oh, I'm tempted to come!
I'll see if I can get the time and the money. I might just make a surprise appearance.
Right, looks like we have enough attendees now. Any more and we'll be desperate for space. So, if you haven't said you're interested by this point, tough luck!
Cheers Scotch
Can I get confirmed PWEASEEEE AGA
cheers
Sin
Right! I will be attending from Weds 27th to 1st July. :)
Okay, everything is confirmed for me now, I'll be there from the 25th and leaving on the 29th (maybe 28th). I'm definitely coming and looking forward to seeing everyone. If it's still good for me to come I'll book my travel this week.
Do I need to bring anything besides a sleeping bag / money? I can probably go out and buy a tent if need be.
Nah, there should be plenty of place inside for everyone, even if some people end up sleeping on the floor.
Dibs on a bed.

So Annie tell us, are you flattered or slightly scared?
*pushes Chris (both of them) away from annie ._.
There will be no dibbing of beds. Bed allocations are calculated via a complicated algorithm. Maybe.

By "
complicated algorithm" I don't suppose you mean picking names out of a hat.
If that is the case it better be an exceptionally exquisite hat.
I can get a ventrillo room sorted out for those people who want to chat before they arrive to hopefully get to know some people before they get there ... if there is enough interest in this i can get the ventrillo room details sorted
To be able to speak to us Ventrillo will need to be downloaded its a small program
More details will follow as i say depending on how many want to use it.

98.6% of the people that go to these meets already know each other, in some cases for multiple years :D your best bet is to just visit the irc chat.
Yeah, there seems to be less new faces and more old friends at every meet. I've met almost everyone attending this one in the flesh before, and know them all except SinSin to chat to online. Not that that's a bad thing, but you know, where is the next generation? Who shall carry the torch once our bones are but dust?
Disco's right anyways, SinSin, get on the irc ags chat room if you want to banter with a few attendees before the event.
Also - do any attendees have any previous at raft-building?
Yes! We built a raft out of barrels in scotland once.
A beer can raft is a step up, but im sure its doable.
As already said SinSin, go to irc for a chat to the people who will be at brittens and you will be welcomed with a hug and a kiss.
Gah, I completely missed this thread... Had I known I would have schedualed my vacation time from work a bit differently...
I guess there is always next year, considering that will be my last chance to go to a brittens...
I guess no mountain dew for you all again....

Why? What has happened to Annie? Grundislav? DaveGilbert? What have you done?!
The only airline that flies direct from Ireland to Wales, and what happens?...
This! (http://www.rte.ie/news/2007/0606/aerarann.html)
I mean, how hard can it be for fate to allow me to attend one f*cking AGS meet?!

Haha, the odds really are stacked against you. Well, we don't know which days they'll be on strike yet, so fingers crossed you won't be affected.
If LimpingFish can't make it, might as well stay home myself too. :(
If worse comes to worse you could always just swim...
Or get the ferry.
or fly to a different airport...and get the train
Ferry wouldn't be too bad, because we had hoped to go to Snowdonia, anyway, and it's only a little further to get you from Holyhead. Hopefully your flight will be fine.

If Pablo and CJ aren't coming, then I'm not coming either!
...because they're my ride. :(
Hey, favouritism under these circumstances could be elitism and we'll have none of that here, thank you!!!
::)
LimpingFish, make like a fish & take the ferry
SinSin arrives to see mayhem amongst the masses
If you can get to another airport in the NW LimpingFish I can pick you up as im driving down from the north but it would have to be on the morning of the 25th Unless we can discuss something else...
Just a suggestion
OR if you can get a ferry to Heysham or something i can go get ya it might add an hour but what the hey
If Grundislav and m0ds are coming, then I'm not!
If CJ so much as dares to take another breath, I'm nuking the UK!!!1
is Your face blue yet Chris?
Booked and confirmed!
I dont know if i'm going to be able to afford Brittens. I've been left completely self dependant, i have no money and one by one my phone, gas and power are being cut. If i come into any money anytime soon then i will definitely come but it doesn't look hopeful.

That reminds me of a story I read once about a guy who finds everything in his life being cut off, until finally his oxygen goes and then his existence.
Except this is real life. And...I'm...not being very...appropriate...um...either. :-[
...
Hope you make it, Chicky. :)
In other news, the proposed Aer Arann strike has, apparently, being resolved, and this fish has wings once again.

Um... don't mind me.
Just about to book my tickets.
Ticket times are to and from Cardiff Central.

Arrive: 25th June @ 15:32
Depart: 29th June @ 17:45

See you all there :D
Has spleen confirmed yet? I'm back to "maybe" status cos I have no money, haven't been able to save for it either. If he is going then I will definitely go (I owe him!), if not, I'm a "maybe" up until the Wednesday I will "maybe" turn up :)
!
If m0ds can't make it, I'm not coming either! Oh wait, I'm not going anyways.
Well, I'm amazed so many people are actually going even though I am not going!
PS. Have fun in Wales, everyone. ;)
Wow, you don't appear to be going to any AGS meets this year Pete! What's going on??!?! :p
I spent all my money last year!
Well, actually I do have some money, but I need it for living! I was going to spend all summer working (and saving all that money for future Brittens/Mittens/whateverittens), and then I failed to get a summer job. So now I would have time to travel and meet you guys, but no extra money really... I'm doing my best to go next year though!
spleen most likely isn't coming.
As for the rest of you: bring a towel, or you'll end up all using the same few damp towels to dry yourself :P
Also, if you have a sleeping bag (and aren't coming from another country, thus being guaranteed a bed to sleep in), please bring it. Even if you do end up with a bed, someone else could use your sleeping bag as a mattress. If you have an inflatable mattress and can manage to bring it, also please do.
Unless I win the lottery this week, I'm afraid I'm going to be absent.
Someone else will have to take my place in the storm drain.
I expect a plethora of pictographs. Don't disappoint me, as I have you.
On the plus side, now you all have a fair chance of being the drunkest one there.
Oh yeah, in case anyone didn't know: I have two cats and two dogs. If you're allergic, prepare to suffer.
I long planned for a guest appearence, but I just got this great teaching job at a boarding school. So I'll be off to the countryside to teach English for some weeks, starting on Monday.
Have fun without me!
Righty then its the weekend before. So where in Taffswell are we meeting then? im Going to be quite busy until the minute I leave for brittens so i am going to need some landmarks/postcode to look for when I reach the Well of Taffs.
I'll PM you my postcode.
In case anyone needs to contact me because they're lost or something, my mobile number is +447833 137710
Brittens has already begun for us, with CJ and Pablo's Big London Adventure.
However, the only thing we saw of note was this:

£5.10 to enter, free to leave.
I want a hat with the uk flag on it, too! :'(
5.10...cheers! Last thing...MAPS! I'm sure they were posted somewhere but I can't find them.
I basically need a map showing Taffs Well and an X marking your house, Berian!
Once I've got that, I'll leave.
So maybe see you later!!!
edit okay I found the old map & directions!
Are you actually going to turn up, Mark? If so, approximately when?
Aproximately between 9 and 10pm providing I find your house using the vague direction "on the left behind a bus stop and shortly before a speed camera." or whatever it is..lol. Just had my dinner, finished some important stuff and I'm packing a few things now and trying to leave ASAP.
If you haven't heard from me by 11pm, please call me, I've probably crashed or something.
see you soon!
