So the previous plans fell through, CJ says it's too late for him to get a hold of the Lake District cabin he's mentioned in the past, so it looks like it falls to me to host Brittens again.
So, Brittens, my house (near Cardiff, Wales), 21-28 July 2008: yea or nay?
Attendees:
AGA
dasjoe
Disco
Creed Malay
Privateer Puddin'
Pumaman
scotch
(7)
yea.
Bydda 'na.
AGA Saves the Day, Part II!
Probably no for me now, but I'm not sure yet. It depends on if I choose Brittens or Mittens this time (probably Mittens, but you never know). Was hoping for a mid-Julyish Brittens.
Sounds good to me. Save me a spot, pray do.
AGA, how flexible are you for immediate decisions?
My course will be over by then and I'd like to so something intetresting in the summer before starting uni, but on the other hand I don't really wanna say yes or no right now because I have no way of predicting how much money I'll have.
But If I was to turn around nearer the time and say "room for one more?" would that be ok?
All I'm really bothered about is getting enough people interested to make it worth the effort. There's no real maximum number of people - my house can hold a surprisingly large number of people :P
But can it hold a number of surprisingly large people?
ay

Well, at least one! :=
Dunno yet, will say yes or no in a few weeks. Some weeks later would be better, actually.
If it makes it any easier, we could move it back a couple of weeks, Hajo? Disco also said that'd be better for him. Would July 19 - July 26 or so be alright for everyone?
July 19th - 26th would be fine, at least I won't have any lectures - but I don't know about possible exams yet.
Okay, 21-28 July might be better for all concerned, if people can make that?
That would be good for me, perfect actually. That is if Brittens/Mittens Venn people are not put off by a 2 1/2 week gap between :-\
Any of those dates are fine with me, though the later ones are moving it a bit close to Mittens ... I don't know if I can stomach seeing you guys twice within such a short period of time!!
Does Berian's house smell as much as he does?
I'd be more than glad to unleash some hell on you all but since i'm gonna be extremely busy i think i'll pass... ;D
Ok.
I'll go!
So what are the final dates, 21-28 July?
I'd probably have to leave on the 27th to avoid taking the extra day off work, but otherwise should be fine.
As long as there are no complaints about those dates, yeah.
I am interested, but really unsure if I will be able to come.
Is there any "events" planned?
Things like going to Barry Island (I think this happend last year?)
How easy is it to get to your house anyway AGA from Barry?
Peder.
It's something like 10 trains stops, maybe an hour, from my place to Barry Island. About the same from Barry, since that's on a different line.
Won't be able to make it :(
No Brittens or Mittens for me this year - that has to be my worst attendance ever!
And I was so looking forward to showing off my new game, and the new version of the AGS Annual...
;)
There are a few reasons I will not go(please don't get offended).
1. I live in Australia and simply don't have the cash to travel to England
2. Even if I did have the cash I only know a few of the members on this board and only briefly for them, so I would simply not feel safe and I have social phobia so I would make a really crappy guest. Now I'm not accusing anyone whose going that they would attack me but I am somewhat street smart and it's better to be safe than sorry. Also the social phobia thing could lead to an embarrassing panic attack.
However if neither of these issues were a problem for me I would gladly go, seriously! I hope all attendees have fun.
Sorry guys Im in Penzance the week after therefore i cannot attend this year maybe next year eh
NOOOOOOO I'll miss the PUB QUIZ
I wants to come! but I cant attend to the whole week.
But would love to spend a minimum of one day there! (22nd)
Let me know if something is planned for this day so i make sure I get there before you all have left somewhere :-\.
By the way, is there a "how to get to AGAs house map" available? :P.
Ill be taking the train from Barry so...

AGA's house can only be seen if you look into the sun whilst holding your head at an angle of 37 degrees.

Done.
This doesn't surprise me at all, Disco, not at all ;)
Torchwood would prevent a disaster like that from ever happening.
I shall make an appearance for a day or two... perhaps.
I tried to get the whole week off from work but unfortnatly I couldent, infact I got the week before off :-\.
So I will only attend on the tuesday, hopefully I might even have a little goodie to bring aswell :P.
That is if I ever get to know WHERE it is and HOW to GET THERE from the TRAIN STATION.................
PJ.
It's a secret. Plus I live like 10 minutes in a straight line from the train station, it's not like you can get lost. It's CF15 7QD if you really need to know.
I guess Ill know what house it is when I get there? :P. (If not I dont mind knocking every single door ;D)
Oh, since I never been to any meeting like this I dont really know what exactly use to happen but is there a "events list" or something? :P.
oh and I might attend on the 27th to...
PJ.
We never have anything planned really, we just hang out and decide what to do on the day. If you tell me about when you're planning to turn up I'll make sure there are people hanging around on the street to meet you :P
All of Brittens came to meet me, last year. It was so awesome. :D
I can still remember the uniform gasp of wonderment that greeted my arrival.
...
Or maybe it was a gasp of horror...
Blimey, less than 2 months till Brittens. I suggest that this year we visit Merthyr Tydfil and play spot-the-working-man.
No chance. With your accent you'd get stabbed in Merthyr.
Whatever do you mean? Surely it'd be the best place for people to appreciate a true, genuine Welsh accent.
Okay, so there's less than a month until Brittens now. Who is definitely coming, and who might be able to make it?
Doubt it, but I may be able to pop down for a day.
I am definatly coming on the 22 July and I MIGHT pop in on the 27 to.
Peder.
Shit, I really want to go but unless I can find someone with a car that just happens to go to Wales too, it won't happen.
The deadline for me is in 2 weeks, but it looks like I'm out. Weirder stuff has happened though...
Well, I've booked the week off work, so I guess that means I'm coming!
I'll be there the entire time, yeah.
I'm still coming. For all the time and MORE.
At this rate we'll almost be few enough to be the Famous Five... now all we need is a woman to be the one that stays at home and cooks the dinner.
EDIT: Annie? ...
:=
Hey. I'm not going to Brittens but I'm going to be in the UK visiting the fiancee from July 24th to Aug 7. Is a trip to London planned at any point? We could probably plan a day trip to London on Sunday or something.
Nothing's planned, but I don't see why people couldn't get together and do something after Brittens. Some people are already doing a crazy trek around Wales for a few days after Brittens though, so any London thing would have to be after that.
I don't really fancy making it an 'official' part of Brittens, since I'd have to pay to stay in London instead of just stay in my own home, and I don't especially like London anyway :P
There's plenty of room available if you wanted to drag the fiancée along to Brittens for a day or two though. You could probably even score a room with king-size bed to yourselves.
Hm. Visiting you in Wales could be an option, and the offer of a king sized bed might seal the deal. I'll bring it up with her. :) If we come, it'll be for the final weekend there.
If you guys ever make it into London I'll pop along and meet up, I'm far too lazy to go all the way to Wales.

I not sure if this will be the smartest thing ive said, but Ill just say it anyway:
I got long hair and I look like my mum so I guess I could "be" the woman and cook you all dinner ::)
Home made pizza or Spaghetti Bolognese! :P.
Also, let me know what you are doing Dave, London or Brittens. I should be able to make a trip.
Likewise Dave, if you decide to do a London day trip I'll certainly try and pop along. Or if you decide to come to Brittens for the weekend then I'll see you there!
For the love of all that is Blue and Cuppy, let someone organise a trip to London, and make sure they either email or facebook me!!
I get back from San Diego on the 28th July, and it now looks like I could have gone to Mittens >:(
Matt
It's not too late if you can score the time off. There are still 4 places open for Mittens.
Unfortunately, the guy I work with has booked it off for a summer holiday, so I'll have to cover him.
:(
I should certainly be good for one of them next year - certainly can't afford to do Comicon every year ;)
Two weeks to go, how time flies!
Shall we tentatively allocate Sunday 3rd August as a London meet-up day for Dave/Matt/Becky/anyone who can't come to Brittens itself? It seems like the only weekend which both Dave and Matt would be able to make.
Creed, Disco, Janet and I are planning on going to York that day. Steve Ince might come too, since he lives nearby and we keep in touch. Is it possible to meet in York instead?
Let us know when you've decided whether you're making a trip to Brittens, and then I'll decide -- but it would be cool to meet up with you again while you're in the country!
Definitely not going to Brittens, unfortunately. But if you can meet us in York, that would be great!
I might be able to make it, we'll have to see. Do let us know if you're going to be in the London area at any point. :)
Cool! I'll working from Janet's apartment and leeching her wifi while she's at work, so I'll be able to check PMs and such.
York is like the other freaking end of the country, guys D: <
Also London is better. And if you -were- to come to London, both Adamski and I would be there :P
Oh hey, yes, come to London! I'm going to be down that way on the 3rd as I get my long-overdue holiday time then. York is rubbish!
We've already made arrangements to be in York that day so we can't change it. :(
Be sure to make hilarious New York/old York comparisons while you're there.
Well any time after Friday August 1st Adamski and I will be around the London area if anyone ends up swinging by :)
I'm supposed to be going to London on the 27th to meet some folks. If any of you guys are about on that day it's be cool to say hi.
So. Im now in Taffs well. But got no clue exactly where the house is. And where are the food shops?

No worries Dave, if you do find yourself down south between the 2nd and 8th though let us know!
Thanks for the 4/5 hours I attended!
I had a really nice time! ;D
And I must go up that mountain again, definatly a place I have to bring my Girlfriend :P.
Peder.
I've got to see a man about a dog this Friday so I'll be along after that. If Mr AGS is willing I'll see if I can ninja a ride home on Sunday with him as well.
Brittens is over! There are quotes here (http://meets.americangirlscouts.org/?s=events&y=2008&e=br&i=quotes).
Haha, Brilliant... CJ on form as usual... wish I could have come.
Will we be getting photos aswell?
Plenty of photos were taken. You'll have to wait for people to wake up and/or get home for them though.
It's all OVAR!
Scotch, Disco and me are about to leave AGA's on a Death-Hike. We shall be living in the wilds and on our wits, and will not return to civilization for several days, if at all!
Goodbyes!
Davy
edit - also, post the multi-lingual cheese song, Berian!
Perhaps the child was thinking of this pirate: (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/images/spacepirates/spacepirates_promo385.jpg)
I have returned! Photos somewhen today. Not very good ones mind.

Nice photos!
CJ looks slightly more manly than I'm used to seeing him. Then again, Scotch has turned slightly more girly, so it evens out.
I am also back! Photos of misery and doom are here:

I'll post the video of Creed trying to book Timmy Mallet later.
QuoteCJ looks slightly more manly than I'm used to seeing him
There, at least one person appreciates my extremely manly and not-at-all-girly sunglasses!
And yes, AGA you must post La Fromage.
I want to run it by Creed first to work out what order stuff is meant to be in. So as soon as he's back from le walk and online again, I'll post it.
Our Wales walk is not quite going according to plan. See the weather decided to go from perfect to heavy rains right when we were meant to set out. We spent last night in a pine forest just outside Cwmbran as a test, but the rains found us.
We are now back at scotch's and are making dinner somewhere between Sweeney Todd and Fight Club :P tonight looks like we might be staying in as well. Hopefully we might get another chance tomorrow to have one last night of camping :/
Yes, the gods, dirty tackholes that they are, decided to snatch away the lovely weather and replace it with rainstorms and hurricannoes just when we need them the least. The bastards. But still, the call off of the walk means I get to meet the ten-thousand cats that live in Scotch's back garden.
AGA, PM me Le Fromage and I'll order it all up for you! We need some thing to while away the hours between rain storms.
And speaking to Timmy Mallets agent on the phone was one of the highlights of the week. I really thought we were going to get him booked for a while, they sounded so keen...

Sorry to hear about your water-cress whales guys, hope you manage at least one day of it!
Mallett *was* only eighteen hundered pounds! We could well afford him! ANd we'd only have to pay his travel expenses on top, he could sleep at the chateau. If he gets a lift down in CJ's car, that's not no extra at all!
Also! I have started work on a comic strip called "Chris and Ruby". It will delight all!
I'm not used to seeing CJ with an afro. Clearly, he is at least in part sired by Africans. Or jews. It looks like fun was had by all but AGA, so the usual!
I know Timmy's brother Martin, so maybe I could get you a discount. :=
Hmm...I could have done without the Bubba Ho-tep :-\
I wanna see more of the Satanic Mystery House.
We visit it pretty much every Brittens. If you want to see it, come next time! :P

Silly comics I drew at Scotches house during the "Called-Off Walk Across Wales Walk" walk, about CJ and AGA's blind, deaf, incontinent dog, Ruby, using CJ quotes from the quote files of various meets.
Hehe great work, though Ruby sitting still for that long is pushing things a bit!!
Awesome.
It looks like a gay time was had by all...perfect!! Any videos? :D
Man I always miss out on the gay times...
I shat blood on the morning of the march in Brighton and had to go to the clinic instead...
It's still one to remember Stupot, and that's the whole point.
You just founded Shittens, that's all :)
