just checked out this site as part of a "mission," if you will, to create my own QFG style game (just for the hell of it, mind you). I really like AGS, extremely powerful tool at what it does, and best of all it's FREE?! Wow....

anyway, as i have noticed by working w/ the program for a little while, Chris's artwork is somewhat... lacking. Since I am not creating a game that will be distributed anywhere, I'm wondering if anyone has some sprites from any of QFG or KQ games. I am definitely NOT an artist, so im looking for better alternatives to drawing.

btw, to make my own contribution to the forums, if anyone is looking for extremely good artwork (both professional and not) then check out www.elfwood.com
the site has over 80000 paintings, drawings, etc. available for private use, and personally they make kick-ass backgrounds for your game. ok, im done with my rant now, and thanks ahead for any help.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. You are NOT allowed to use art from Elfwood without permission of the artist. Taken from the botom of my own gallery main page:

QuoteAll works shown are property of their respective artists or writers. No rights or permissions are granted for display of these works on other web sites, webchats or in other forms. THIS IS NOT FREE "CLIPART"! Please contact Christine E. McLeod for details on using the content on this page.(Please do not email the Elfwood Administrators, they can't give you permission!) - Finally, please, read the legal information for more copyright details.

Just so you don't get into copyright trouble.

'Private use' my foot!!  :o Do you not know about the new copyright laws?? And do you not read the laws on elfwood itself? Do I have to take down my gallery just because ignorant fools such as you don't read? Just because you find some art online doesn't make it public domain. Learn some respect for artists please before you go giving out potentially harmful false information!

If you have used any elfwood art for your backgrounds in any published games without permission I will tell the artist of this immediately and you will most likely be sued by that particular artist. And if you rip me off from my own personal gallery on elfwood sometime in the future... let's just say that I wouldn't go that route my friend.

Okay wait, let me edit this. If you mean 'private use' as in usage as a desktop background or a picture on a wall in your house, then YES, images on elfwood can be used for PRIVATE USE. But making a background out of it for your AGS game is not private use. That's practically the same as using the image for a website background and that is a type of use that is not allowed. That's using it as public domain and the images are not for public domain. So unless your game is staying on YOUR harddrive, you can not use images from elfwood as an AGS image.
