Title: Broken Sword 4 demo released!
Post by: ManicMatt on Mon 28/08/2006 14:50:45
Woohoo Gamershell.com have got the new broken sword demo! (And probably so do other sites)

I'm downloading it now, thought you'd like to know about it!

Although I'm concerned about the genre they've labelled it as: "action"  :-\

I downloaded it from gamershell installed it tryed to run it and it says that "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_29.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem". So i tryed to re-install it (twice) but it still gives me the same error. Any suggestions what should I do?

Hmm that suggests to me a problem with directX9.0? I think that dll you mentioned is integral to it. Have you got directX 9 installed?

Have you any other games that use 9 and have no issues?

EDIT: Also, I have completed the demo, and I will say you'll like it if you liked the previous game, pretty much. Not a lot has changed. The graphics are nice and I got a smooth FPS (Hardly surprising given the nature of the game), the controls are simple but also annoying, at least you can click on the floor to move as well instead of the arrow keys, but sometimes the floor cannot be seen so you must use the arrow keys. The puzzles were typical broken sword affair, I just hope the demo was early in the game as the puzzles were really easy.

Yes I have few games that need DirectX9.0c and they run without problems.

Thanks works now! Now I can say something about the game too. I think that the graphics are good but not great, but the lighteffects IMO are very very good. The movement is kinda hard (for me atleast) but everything else is good. Now i wonder how much will it cost when it comes out...
