Title: (Broken Sword == Titan A.E.(?)) ;
Post by: hedgefield on Sun 07/08/2005 19:42:01
I was watching Titan A.E. again today, and suddenly it struck me how much Akima looked like Nico. Then I noticed how much Cale is actually like George. It was almost scary.

Judge for yourself:

There's a scene at the ending of Broken Sword 2 that would fit a lot better, but I'm too lazy to reinstall it just to cap that.

I searched Google but it didn't turn up too much evidence linking the two. I got some vague references that the creators of Titan A.E. worked on Dragon's Lair 3D, and some Czech movie site that mentioned Broken Sword in their review, but I couldn't understand it.

Crazy coincidence or evil conspiracy?

Crazy coincidence is my bet. But yar, the resemblance is uncanny - so much so that I looked at the first image before I realized that it was from Titan and I went, "Hang on, that's not exactly what they look like...". I thought I was looking at George and Nico.

Evil conspiracy is my bet. (http://koti.mbnet.fi/paapeli/rsmiley/xd.gif)

Nico doesn't really look the same, but for George I had the same reaction as Rui

Well Nico's ridiculous hairdo is pretty much identical (did she really have that in the first two BS games?). It's eerie how similar those characters are. But perhaps that's a pretty good indication of why I never was crazy about Broken Sword - the characters are kinda generic.

I thought the exact same. But only in the 3d one. The jaw/smile is familiar.

In the 2d ones, they looked a bit different. http://bonusweb.idnes.cz/obrazek/bs_klasikascrn04.jpg

Actually in BS2 they were a bit more similar to the Titan screenie.

They DO look similar! I believe the creators of Titan AE viciously stole the design... Heh, not really... both men appear to be a male version of Lara in my mind, that kind of ayrian (sp?) race kinda guy, blonde hair, perfic'. And because the guy's blonde, you can't have a bimbo beside him...

It's uncanny, well spotted :)

This thread has done nothing but remind me how sweet Titan A.E. is. Man, that movie rules.

George was supposed to be a somewhat obnoxious yet charismatic american tourist, right? GGothic is right about the characters being generic.

Every blonde, animated, big-chinned hero looks the same.
It's twoo.

Some has to do with fairly generic American-style semi-realistic cartooning and some has to do with relation to Don Bluth animation and their stylistic influence (Dragon's Lair's animation was by DB, along with Space Ace, right?).
