The following was sent to my personal e-mail address. At first I thought it was spam and almost deleted it, but after reading it I realized that this person (woman?) is trying to tell me something. However I have no idea what it is! AGS is mentioned so who knows, perhaps she's a member and will see this. I removed her name from the e-mail.

Notes:
-My name is not Alex
-I don't have a blog
-I have never taken money from this person, however maybe The Adventure Shop (as the link is included) has
-If you follow the AGS link, it will take you nowhere near my game... but that page has a demo called "rough diamond demo" so I'm guessing this person confused it with mine?

???

Nikolas

Some person is weird and can't speak English. Nothing too bad really...

And no, I'm not kidding. It appears that that person got DITR and couldn't find a way to play it??? Or something towards that. And it definately is not spam, if they have alkis.org there...

Anyways, best of luck. Maybe reply from another e-mail to see what they want?

auriond

I agree that it looks pretty straightforward. This is my translation of the email:

Title: (no idea bout the Alex bit) I'll try to download the demo but it doesn't look good either

Message:

I love your games and blog, but I really got ripped off! I bought your game from here (adventureshop link) and even tried to download your games from here (the AGS website) and here (alkis.org). Well thanks for taking my money. (/sarcasm) I read the reviews of your game. How is it that you, an expert, made a game that's so hard to download and install? It cost me money which I'll never get back. Thanks for nothing. (/sarcasm)

(frustrated ranting)

I think you should get in touch with this woman and try to see exactly what problem she's having with running the game. Possibly she has a corrupt file or doesn't know how to install and start the game. And she obviously thinks that you, being the maker of the game, has taken her money and left her with a game she can't play, and so she's taking out her frustrations in an email. The Adventure Shop isn't likely to help her with that, so I guess that really does leave you to help her sort out her problem.

Pretty straightforward! You're a smarter person than I am, auriond.

I of course e-mailed her immediately asking her to describe the problem to me. But if the file she downloaded from The Adventure Shop is incomplete or corrupt, they're the only ones who can help her.

You're a smarter man than I am, auriond.

I believe this to be incorrect. Well, at least the man part  ;D

auriond

Thank you, but I still believe the statement to be incorrect :P I don't know why on first read it didn't make sense to me either, but when I looked at this thread again later to see Nikolas's reply, the email suddenlymade sense (except for Alex). So I banged out my previous post above  ;D So yeah, took a few readings before it became "straightforward". Sorry about that! Didn't mean to sound condescending.

What about the "Rough Diamonds demo" then, where does that fit? Or the weird haiku format?

This is worse than Le Serpent Rouge!  ;D

AGS should rid of you, you re scam..

Whatever, to that. Well, why do people post negative comments always in such a way. Probably they can't fit their words into their feelings. Or viceversa..

I would email her back (from a spam/not your normal email) and tell her this:

Dear [female name],

It's 2008.  If you paid money to download a FREEware game that's your fault for being an idiot.  Call it a 'lesson learned' and move on.

Glad you liked my game.

This is, of course, just my opinion on the matter :P

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

send her a reply entitled, 'your are corrupt grammar'.

Isn't Diamonds in the Rough a commercial game? ???
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door.

I stand corrected.

I'd still send the letter though.

Nice attitude Alkis, in the end the love you get is equal to the love you give, as the Beatles said!

Huh?  I said to say, "glad you liked my game" at the end!  That makes it totally nice and polite!!

I think something like :
Well, first of all thanks for buying my game(ecc.)
I'm actually sad/amazed/sorry that the distribution system I choose for my game despite having worked out for many(since I had no complaints about it before) hasn't worked out for you. However, I'm in the state to say that I can't really help you since it's not my fault. However I can tell you what you should do to help yourself.

Or you can go Darth's polite way:

You're a jackass..you let them fool you..go die..you scam...

Oh, glad you liked my game

(I'm just making fun of bicilottis probably misunderstood comment)
