How many of you played a Dizzy game as a child? That loveable egg, jumping, and rolling, and solving adventures?
Well now... he's back!
The Oliver Twins have decided the time is right to start a Kickstarter campaign, to fund a new Dizzy game. Bigger and better than ever. :cheesy:
So excited for this!

Fucking YESSS!
I Love Dizzy! This has made my day!
Funny that the Oliver Twins' heads actually look like Dizzy.
There was talk long ago of a 3D Dizzy game, but it never happened (as far as I know).
Hooray!
Can I ask why this thread was moved, but the thread for Hero U Kickstarter wasn't? Both threads are adventure-related.
m0ds probably figured Dizzy wasn't an adventure game?
Since it sounds and looks like a wonderful "real" adventure-project, I don't understand the movement of the thread, too.
At least the sketches and shown backgrounds look very promising (nod)
Thank you for the interesting news, Frodo
I'm not a big fan about how unspecific their presentation is. "We really think it's the right time to make another Dizzy adventure [no reason given as to why], and it's going to be TEH BEST AND BIGGEST EVER [no explanation HOW they are going to achieve this, not to mention this particular phrase is THE first deadly sin of game design], we have more money now, so we can do more stuff [gee, that always works, right? George Lucas anyone? I would like to know WHAT they will do differently]", and then they go on to mention a couple of trivial buzzword features... Casual-friendly? Multi-touch support? Classic gameplay? A hint system? Yaaaawn, how exciting.
From their current kickstarter page, I can't help but feel they're simply porting the old games to iOS and PC with an upgrade to the sprites. I, for one, can't get too excited about that. There are plenty of modern clones available already for both systems. This one has a big name, and that's it from the looks it.

Then what does he think it is?
Tabata, I used to love playing Dizzy adventures on the Spectrum.
The first game was titled "Dizzy: the Ultimate Adventure Game". Most of the gameplay involves collecting items and solving puzzles by using them. Yeah, I think this counts as an adventure.
Anyway, I'd be happy to see more Dizzy games. But I'm not sure if I'd be willing to pay a lot of money for a quick nostalgia fix; with nowadays tools it's pretty easy for a team of two people to write a Dizzy game in less than a month.
The first and only kickstarter game I've purchased so far is Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams, which *totally* counts as nostalgia fix. I remember the Dizzy games but never actually played one, looks interesting enough though.
I'm a bit baffled how quick the kickstarter craze caught, though. There's one for a *sauce*!
Dudes, save your money and get Spud's Quest instead.
Only a fiver, made by a lovely one man team, and you can actually try it first as well... not entirely built on Dizzy dreams...

Dizzy is a platformer, not an adventure game.
*Cue angry debate on what does or does not constitute an adventure game*
Let's not cue angry debate
So how many of you played the Dizzy adventures back in the day?

Yep, my favourite was Fantasy World Dizzy, but we also had Magic Land Dizzy, plus my mate had other puzzley ones like Fast Food Dizzy.
I don't really class Dizzy games as 'Adventure' in the sense that I normally mean when I use that word, but I think they do come pretty close. The puzzles are pure Adventure, but there just happens to be a lot of coin collecting and jumping on platforms for good measure.
never played any dizzy game, but I've been dizzy quite often so coming from this professional background I have to say it really looks more like a platformer than what I would call an adventure game. I don't even know if I'm interested in this game. I probably don't even know why I'm writing this here... but thanks for reading ;)
It is a platform-based adventure game.

Well they say they'll have a protoype video soon, so all will be revealed...probably. In the descriptions there's lots of gameplay elements mentioned and I just kind of doubt it'll all fit in.
I only saw gameplays of the older Dizzy games, and the twins mention it themselves - it's basically very simple fetch quests, so I don't really have any nostalgia glasses for this.

Freak. We use to hang people for words like these. Still, I think the main problem might be that "adventure" is not really a genre now days, even in places such as AGS forums, it's more of a slang.
