Do AGS has got content limits?

En garde!

I was thinking on developing a game with AGS. While the AGS adventures I played were very good and oriented to mature minds, I saw that the game list doesn't have really extreme stuff: "Alien Rape Escape", for instance, would be the one I've played with more objectionable content (and even then, it is more about making fun of gratuitous erotism then being gratuitous itself)

So... is there a limit? Will AGS not promote some games?

make whatever you want, it'll be ok, and welcome

Well, obviously we are limited by the law, so if you made a game that involved graphic hardcore porn or peadophilia, then it would not be allowed on the Games page.

But other than that, the Games page has a content rating system so all games are welcome -- all we ask is that if they include mature content you specify that on the game's content rating so that people know before they download it.

Yeah, the idea was to make a game with some erotic content, something like the comic book "Druuna". Even if it's not included in the AGS webpage, will it be a problem for Chris Jones and the AGS people if I make it anyway, as long as I don't promote it in the AGS forums?

HillBilly

If you keep it to yourself, I doubt we'd notice.

Mr Flibble

Call it "art" and get payed for it.

Call it "modern art" and get payed for nothing.

(oooh burn)
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

MrColossal

you can promote it here fine, just add a disclaimer and everything will be fine, I'm sure.

Except for us calling your mom and embarrassing you....

You must be sick. Why would you WANT to do an AGS game like that?!

Welcome to the internet.

Hmm, Druuna the adventure game did REAL well...

One of the reasons there's not much "erotic" AGS content is that it requires an awesome artist like Serpieri to make the content "erotic" and not "laughable". And that's debatable with Serpieri, never mind Joe Schmoe drawing.

Good luck!

Why? Erotic contents are okay, we even have PORN Quest!

And education titles like Dickboy (the original and the remaked one). :=

There's a law against graphic hardcore porn  :o? Is that a British law, and if so, what's their definition of graphic and hardcore?  (would hate to have to censor Shadowplay just to have in on the games page)

scotch

I am not sure about the rules on hardcore graphic art, I would imagine there are few limits, on video most hardcore porn can be sold now, except bestiality, scat, simulated pedophilia or necrophilia and things like that.
Druuna would be fine under British law, I'm sure.

GarageGothic

Oh, all right. Cool, so then I can keep in the fisting scene ;)

Sam.

speaking of that, you promised an update?

ON TOPIC

I don't think pornography of any form is really apporpriate in a game, i mean, unles the whole purpose of your game is to titilate. If you want people to play it and njoy its opuzzly goodness, pornography isn't necessary.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

GarageGothic

Well, if you by "pornography" mean something that is meant to tittilate, I agree. I just read the word as meaning full frontal nudity, graphic sex and whatnot. I think it's very possible to use these elements without the game being pornographic per se. In fact, I think breaking taboos can be a very effective way of trigger emotion in people, positive or negative. Some of the most disturbing scenes that I've seen in movies have been of a sexual nature - Cronenberg, Lynch, Pasolini etc. etc.

As for the promised update, I've posted a little bit in the GiP forum for now.

Pumaman

It was my understanding that you had to verify that somebody was at least 16 before being allowed to supply them with hardcore porn (which in British law means I believe containing an erect penis); and allowing them to download it would count as "supplying".

I may be totally wrong though, these sort of things change all the time.

Funny I should see this thread, since I recently responded to a job ad for a game designer.Ã,  They are looking to make games to tie into their web site.Ã,  I didn't realize until after I responded that the website is a puppet porn site, of all things.

So, er, yeah.Ã,  I might need advise on how to write this kind of thing as well.Ã,  Not sure how I'd write a porn game, let alone a puppet porn game.
