Title: Downloading frenzy
Post by: Radiant on Wed 22/09/2004 12:12:20
Hi there,

I've been downloading a lot of AGS games today (in particular, most anything that I'd heard of before or that has an AGS award). Anyway I noticed that quite a lot of links on the games page are outdated, maybe someone should look over them when they have time?

Also I couldn't find Quest for Glory 4.5 or Quest for Orgy anywhere. Can someone please provide a link? Thanks!
(oh, and by 'cant find' I mean that the link at qfg2001.cjb.net doesn't work any more; is there another way to get the game?)

You can get Quest for Glory 4Ã,  1/2 over at Home of the Underdogs:

I found it's a bit fussy to run on XP though. For my WIndows XP, I needed to Right-Click on the "QFG.exe" file that comes with it, then select "Properties" then on the "Compatibility" tab I found setting Compatibility Mode for "Windows 2000" seemed to let the game run fine then.

As far as the other game you're looking for... I've no idea (and I've not heard of it before now, though the title does sound rather... interestingÃ,  ;D )

Rats too bad I hadn't seen your post sooner as in a fit of anger I deleted the game because it wouldn't run on XP. Off to download it again I suppose (yay 56k will take all morning \^O^/). Thanks for your unintentional help. :P

Sure, glad I could be of help. Let us know if it works this time for you.
If the "Windows 2000" mode does not work for you, try one of the other mode settings.

Yeah, being stuck on old slow dial-up sux, but you could get a big file a lot faster with a download manager/accellerator, and then if the download gets interrupted, you could continue it. A good free one for this ( and without spyware or adware junk it) is StarDownloader:

Good luck.

So do you still have it? Can you send it to me please?

Oh, another related question - I wanted to play Permanent Daylight (it was recommended to me) but the site link no longer works... any suggestions on where I can get it?

2ma2's website is no longer online and his downloads are also gone. I'd like to download WKKR and Permanent Daylight aswell since I don't have those games on my new computer, but I haven't found either of those games anywhere.

I've got Permanent Daylight on my comp. PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you. It's only 690Kb, so it shouldn't be too bad, even on dial-up.
