well my company thingy name is Wintermute Studios, mainly cause my computer is called wintermute, and i recorded my band's demo on it, so it was like a studio...  but googleing 'wintermute studios' came up with a couple of things, and there's heaps of companies with 'wintermute' in their title =(
so I'd need to get a different name if I wanted to actually do anything 'real' with the 'company'...
Powerhoof - My new indie games company! | Wintermute Studios - My older AGS games: The Historical League of Bouncy Boxing, Grr! Bearly Sane,  Duzz Quest...

Turnkey Games! Turnkey Games! Very good, that.

But I still like Gonzales' Adventure Software. :P And Ionias' idea (G.A.S.) is a splendid one.

And Flippy D... 'monkey' and 'popcorn' technically aren't adjectives. ;)

I said this the other day, and although its hypocritical (Screen 7 Entertainment ahem), you dont always need "Games / Software / Entertainment / Productions" etc at the end of a name.

Adeline (LBA, LBA II) is a great name. And the company Jannar formed which is now known as Serendipity Games or something, I thought would sound much better as Serendipity.

So, don't always think of shoving one of those words at the end.

- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

m0ds: valuable point, but it seems that I, personally, have a more difficult time trying to come up with the names when I don't pair them up with "Games / Software / Entertainment / Productions", but I will try your suggestion and see what I can come up with.

EldKatt: N3TGraph came up with GAS in his reply. Tis why I put it into my list.

Thanks for everyone's c+c. I'm going to work on my final list and we'll see what happens. More c+c and stories though!  :)

Hot crackers, you're right. Didn't notice that until Ionias pointed it out again. Yet I actually thought it was a great name even before I noticed that. :P

The current trend in company naming is big business is to take two "good" words and join them together to make a meaningless name that should sound good. I wrote a little perl script to do this ages ago and I've just re-run it and here's some of its best ones. Feel free to use them (anyone, but please acknowledge source somewhere) and slap "Entertainment" or whatever after:

TechnolX
Splendation
Scigon
Innovid
Metatastic
Titanulous
Adventurement
Technulation
IdiX
Accupotent

EDIT: I added some adventure-related "seeds" and got:

Taleactive
Interacture
Plentius
Intellaction
Intellication
Artitive
Merittect
Dynamcom
Excellal
Luminal
Astoundity

NB I haven't googled for any of these!

"Joyless Entertainment" needs the entertainment part. It's an oxymoron.

I do believe that someone else on these forums uses a "gas *something* entertainment' name, so I'd move away from that.

I like Eye-Eye Productions... but it might be too confusing having Eye-Eye Productions and Evil-Eye Productions (Femme Fatale's).
Anyways, good luck choosing a name.

Gaspop Software (I think it's software) is Chrille's company name.  He's the one that produced Pleurghburg:Dark Ages.

Why doesn't anyone just take his/her names and stick Entertainment or Software or Games or something more behind them?

Flippy_D

Because all the Swedish and Norweigian people would have impronouncable names for English-speakers.  ;D

Updated with the third and final list. C+C and Stories. I've also struckthrough the ones I don't plan on using.

I'm trying to be more original than simpily doing that. Thanks for the idea though.

You mean like Squinky Productions? Or SnakePit productions? Or all the other countless folks who've done that?

Well, you certainly could not pronounce my name right, but that haven't stopped me from using Eero Ränik Software everywhere (and also that you could pronounce it as "hero" ::))...

I meant it as a suggestion...

Pet Terry

Why don't you just use your own name? Like I do: 'My game' by Petteri Aartolahti

OR

Petteri Aartolahti presents... 'My game'

I would love to hear when some non-finnish tries to say my name ;D
