Game Idea's

I've been intrested in making an adventure game some type of 2D point & click game for a long time but never got around to it.

I just want to kind of post a couple of idea's that have been running around in my head some of the idea's are recent while some are old. Just to see what you guys think and just to have a place to write them out.

1. Willy Beamish Sequel:
It would take place several years later from the first game and there have been big changes going on in Frumpton. The town was being cleaned up for the better as people thought if a 9 year old kid can stand up to scum so can we but when cleaning up there tend to be a few blind spots.

2. The Gate Keeper's:
Some of this is based on real experience. For there Grandpa's birthday two cousins come meet up at a gated community Club House where the event is being held but when that happens pranks and hilarity ensue, also they have a job to be the gate keeper's only letting in people invited to the party. More will happen in this day than the two previously thought.

3. The Destroyer(Remo Williams) Game:
Based on the books of the same name. I kind of thought of game for this because it's basicly an adventure story filled with fighting and some puzzles. The game Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade had an adventure element and a fighting one too so why not do that for this game of course the fighting would be more complex and deadlier. I think if done right this could be a great fan-made game based on a very good book series that more than deserves an interactive adventure.

Last but not least...

4. Resident Evil:
I think this could work considering the Resident Evil series has a puzzle element to it. As for shooting I would it be so where you could aim at 3 angles, centered(shooting the chest) lowered(shooting the legs) higher(shooting the head) but with a powerful gun you could do more damage for example if you have a shotgun blow off the zombies head or blow of there legs creating a crawling zombie. As for the graphics  it could be ripped a 3D character or a realistc looking 2D character. Also if AGS had some sort of Multiplayer plugin CO-OP could be in order. Also making a great Resident Evil atmosphere for this could make it really stand-out.

As for my skills I'm really good at photoshop, I have ripped sprites and have even edited sprites but the sprites I edited were from arcade fighting game's like Marvel Vs. Capcom. I'm a pretty good artist I just need to look at something to use an example to draw otherwise free hand the drawing could turn out to be good or bad.

I tend to prefer game ideas which aren't based on something (i.e. a sequel, remake, etc.) Apart from the sake of originality, it helps you avoid a lot of legal issues...

However I'd like to add, if I may, my most awesome idea which I just had:

Make AGS in AGS!! :=

Heh, that's original. It would be kinda like Demo Quest except cooler.

Gilbert

Hey that's not original, someone made BHT with AGS already!

I got one more orginial idea up my sleeve...

Dream World:
What if the real world merged with the dream world? Meet a teenager who has a love for  movies and comics but one day finds himself waking up with a object from his dream and soon figures out that something is not right when some things don't appear the way  there suppose to.  Now on a quest to seperate two worlds that were never suppose to meet,  dealing with dreams has never been so complicated. As this happens the teen can't help but think is this his doing or something else...

With a teen for a love of comics and movies things can get pretty intresting but he's not the only one that could do these things.

Tag Line: You are what you dream

I never read those Destroyer books, but I saw the Remo Williams movie... and man, I would not mind one bit playing a game based on that. That was one funny movie. Um... after a while, anyway.

By the way, you just gave me an idea for a game about correcting grammatical mistakes.

That's cool you like Remo Williams but you should check out the books too. I'm glad you wouldn't mind playing a game based on Remo, your not the only one.

Also I'm glad I gave you a game idea... But it's not like I'm writing a essay for class.

Mr Flibble

Got your school timetable?

It doesn't matter, there's always time for accurate grammar!
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

I wasn't going to post that many idea's up at first but that clearly changed.

As for the game, imagine you woke up and the real world seemed like a dream but at the same time the whole world is going through the same thing so to other people your part of their dream.

Afflict

So whats the objective in the game?
And how are you planning on illustrating this to the player (the experience i mean) other than story I mean we already know multiplayer is a bit on the umm diffiult side so whose the other people? NPC's?

Yeah we call it

Duke Nukem starring in NUKE IT FOREVER !

mastag83

Too bad there is no multiplayer support for AGS, it would make for some awesome Co-Op. :(

The main objective is to seperate the two worlds so everything could go back to normal. On the illustrating side I'm not sure about some things but in some instances the main character will have vision problems and not able to run away fast enough from his enemie. As for the NPC's let's say you start to drive a car but then you aren't able to control it and you crash the NPC will most likely think your crazy.

On another note...

I know I mentioned I only had one more game idea but they just keep coming to me don't blame me it's the television's fault I swear.

Actually this is the first game I'll probably work on so it will be like training and making a game at the same time.

Max M. PI: Episode 1(Steel)
You play Max Martins a investigator who signed on a team of paranormal investigators, with an intrest of the unexplained it seemed like the perfect choice but so he could also investigate the disappearence of his friend who happened to be on the team around the same time he diseappered. On the team there's you, a female PI and the guy who runs the whole show. For your first case you must investigate a murderer who has been said to be unstoppable according to the local Police Department, who shot at him and was said to have no effect like nothing was even happening. As Max goes deeper into this case he soon realizes this man may in-fact be unstoppable and has a few other tricks up his sleeve which spells trouble for our man on the job.

Tagline: He's first case... may be his last.

This game will basicly be like a series.

Sounds like you could just do an adaptation for Nightmare on Elm Street 1 + 2 :P. Nancy Tompson had the ability to take objects from her dream, in the end taking Freddy himself into the real world. That led to the first sequel, where he was no longer just in the dream world.

You could always allow the extra players (non-first-player-players) to control NPCs.

Erenan

Of course, you can easily create multiplayer games, provided they are for multiple people on one computer. There was a game I had on my C64 called the Argos Expedition in which you could play with four people on one computer. You'd fly through space encountering various alien life-forms and artifacts, and there would be these events in which each player had a joystick and a specific task to complete, thus simulating having a crew on a starship. One person would have to steer through a tunnel, another had to control the colors of the tunnel to keep it at the right hue for some reason, another had to control the pitch of the sound to keep it at the right level, etc. I guess that was supposed to represent various meaningful jobs. It also came with a deck of cards that you'd use to determine each person's secret mission. There was actually one mission where your task was to get in the other players' way and sabotage the whole expedition. It was pretty interesting, and it is not terribly difficult to create this sort of thing in AGS.

Well my inspirations for Max M. PI are... The X-Files and the Ben Jordan series but you already figured that out. I'm not going to hide what inspired me to come up with the game idea, just want you to know where I'm coming from with this idea.

Just because an idea inspires you to make something similar doesn't mean it's going to be the same.

Descartes Quest?

It'd have to have support for the 'Doubt' command.

]Look

"You are sitting in your nightgown, writing your meditations."

]Doubt nightgown

"Perhaps the nightgown isn't real."

]Doubt pen

"Perhaps these meditations are not real."

]Doubt world

"Perhaps you are just dreaming."

]Doubt math

"Perhaps there is an evil demon making you believe that mathematic principles are true."

]Clear and Distinctly Perceive Existence

"Cogito Ergo Sum"

"Congratulations, you have caused a revolution in philosophy!  You scored 18 out of 25!"
