It is great to have something like this. Thank you for your efforts and congrats!

This is not critics lounge, but in overall the layout is a bit messy though. The general font is maybe not the best choice for readability and the backgrond image is a little distracting.

I like the presentation of BG Blitz entries. Maybe sprite jam (or other competitions) could be represented too?

I hope to read more of these. :)

Great work Jet! I hope many more follow :)

You mentioned dead-ends/walk deads in Duty and Beyond. There are no dead-ends, when you miss an item you can still complete the game, extra items and subquests are for maximum points only. If you missed an item in the mansion and you need it later for a puzzle it will appear in your inventory for that land.

Hey thats a fantastic first newsletter and I am proud to have read it and I can say its a good start. The font is ok for the first time and I guess it can get better as more newsletters go by and more feedback comes your way. From me, I would say the layout is a good start, but some ideas, maybe put some pages in column styles, sort of makes it neater and categorises certain things (like what Mikko was saying also to add competitions - those could be the kind of things to put in columns and categories) and I think it will work out well. Also will the newsletter be emailed via an email list if we put our names and email list to some sort of 'subscribe' submit like some websites have? I cant wait for the next issue already! ;) You have done well.

Nice newsletter, jet - it was fun to read! Keep it up, looking forward to the next issue already :) Good content, the layout was fine and walkthroughs at the back somehow felt very retro! :D

Thank you, all.
There are always loads of good games released in the summer. I had easy picking, but from now on I'll review only new releases. As winter nears, the juice seems to run dry in developer land. I can't review if there is no material, so it might take a while before the next one is released, but that depends more on the people that work on games of course.

I tried a page with sprite jam entries as well, but I didn't like it. Most are low res and zooming never make them prittier. But what bugged me the most was that sprites that overlapped with a background looked like they were part of that background while they were two different entries. People might get confuzzled and think ít's from a game, so I deleted the sprites and kept the backgrounds.

Yes, sorry. What happened was I got stuck in the game, read the walktrough, drew conclusions too quickly and pressed restart. I replayed it quickly to get screen shots, but then I didn't pay attention to the dialog.

Nah, posting it here works better.

Enjoyable on the whole. Pointer: if you're going to have screenshots from low-res 320x200 games, why not have proper undistorted png files of them at 1x size? They're hardly any kilobyte cost most of them.

Nice of you to take the initiative. Looking forward to more.

That's what happens when a document is converted into pdf. And I think the screenshots are 1x (I didn't do any zooming. It could have happened automatic, though).

NICE ONE!

I enjoyed it, paged through it quickly though. Keep it up, I will read it completely later, also maybe add some ideas.

This is a good idea for an "e-zine". Have you considered having some kind of mailing list to update people when new issues come out?

Edit: Also, how many "blue cups" is the maximum in your rating system - 4, 5?

From 0 to 3.
3= a game that you should force-feed your friends.
2= a game every ags'er should know.
1= a game to kill some time.
0= a game I'm not going to write about. (note: this doesn't go two ways. It doesn't mean every game I don't review is bad!)

Whenever a few good games are released. So it mostly depends on the ags users.
