Title: Extracting Last Crusade's resources?
Post by: Monsieur OUXX on Mon 18/06/2012 21:55:24
Hey, lately I was thinking: "I'd like to have a nice zip file with all the backgrounds of Last Crusade in a modern format, like PNG or BMP"
And I was thinking "whenever I want to have it, I'll just Google it and find a resources dumper in 2 seconds.

Well, it turns out it's harder than expected. There are some broken tools here and there, and a lot of stuff for MI, but I found only one single tool for Last Crusade -- it was a command line tool, and time for me to decide I should try it, I couldn't find the URL anymore.

So, anybody has tips?
PS: I'm aiming at the VGA version, but I don't really care.

I used LucasRipper back in the day. I also have the software and the sprites and backgrounds already ripped.
If you want I can send them to you.

No you can't, because that's illegal!
Thanks for the offer though!

While I admire your stand against doing things illegally, I do not understand how it would differ if you extracted the resources or someone else did it for you. Anyway, if it helps, try this: http://adventurestockpile.com/SCUMM/

If his actions resulted in somebody else going to jail or getting sued he would feel bad.
Thanks for the SCUMM link though.

Hey Joseph! Thanks for the link :-) I have found Lucasripper thanks to Matti's hint, but I also welcome your link.

The difference between ripping the stuff myself and having someone do it for me is not trivial: I own the game, so I'm allowed to do it. But if the resources are made public through a download link in this forum, then Lucasarts lawyers are allowed to shut down the entire AGS forum. :-)

Off I go with LucasRipper now!
