RealArcade is teaming up with Comcast, and now has the #1 site for downloadable games. They are always interested in trying out new games for them to sell, which you get a royalty off of.

Check it out here. Remember, that AGS has a part in the manual about distributing your game, especially to those of you who are releasing your game with the MP3 ability. (Not just if you don't happen to use MP3's).

It never hurts to try, and think about it. If it sells, even a bit, it may inspire you to make more of a living off of it.

I could definitly see games like "The Historical League of Bouncy Boxing" making it. As they say, "we are always looking to break genres".
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

I red an article about two dutch game programmers who make games in their bedrooms (like all of us). They produced quite a lot of game  now. None are great hits, you get them when you buy a 25 pack empty cd's, or for 10 euro's in one of those budget bins.

Anyway, they told that they only get 10% or something (just like those girl/boybands that slave for the record company). And they most likely have to give up all the rights as well. They got screwed, but now they're getting more carefull about deals.

What I'm trying to say is that freeware is freedome.

It's the same with most productions. Writers usually only get 10-15% of their books' profit. So do singers and other musical artists, who usually need to sell the rights to make ends meet.

Which is why I'm going to have three jobs:

1.  Making computer games.
2.  Writing books.
3.  Singing.

Real Arcade offers very poor deals - those who mentioned 10-15% didn't lie.  There are other indie game publishers, such as Garage Games, which offer at least 50%, but they are very selective which games they'd feature.
