Okay, forgive me if this has been asked before or is in the wrong section... *is contrite*
What are some of your favorite AGS or commercial game soundtracks?
Here's mine:
1) Eco Quest - Never played the game, unfortunately, but the music is so gorgeous at times that it almost doesn't belong in a "kiddie" game. Quite a few of the tracks are cute, too, especially the sea turtle's theme :)
2) Perils of Poom - Nice, simple tunes that stuck in my head for DAYS. I especially liked the "bad guy" theme.
3) Space Quest 3 - Love, love, LOVE that title theme. Rockin'!
I always liked Enrey's theme from Hero's Quest 1.
Hmmm in no particular order:
1) Kyrandia series, just LOVE the games and the musics.
2) LOOM (no need to explain, right?)
3) Shadow of Darkness, well EXTREMELY buggy game, but the soundtracks and the game itself are both adorable.
4) Richard Longhurst and the Box that ate Time, well the music can never get out of my brain...
5) Pleurghburger: Dark Age
Should be more, it's just a list that I can recall at the moment.

Oh yes! "Erena's Peace" is a lovely piece. Gives me chills, even as a midi.
Ah yeah ^_^ I love that one too.
The Monkey Island Theme- My mobile tune
Kings Quest 6s - Girl in the tower. Oddly enough, I prefer the MIDI to the actual song
Conquest of Longbow Music
LOOM music
Indiana Jones (Maybe that doesn't count, considering it is originally from the movie)- My mobile tune for messages
The main (forest? Walking?) theme in Quest for Glory
I have no favourite....
but how can anybody of you mention Simon the Sorcerer...!!!
Monkey Island 2. All of it.
Gabriel Knight has kickass music. "oh when the saints go marching in..."
good times!
I love the intro-theme to BaSS.
Oh, and also the MI theme.
Maybe cause it's from the first ORIGINAL game I bought, but I just love the MI theme (especially from the first episode, listened with a PC Speaker: undescribable feelings it gives me!)
Also the LOOM theme is very fascinating.
And one theme that I don't like so much, but anyway I can't seem to get out of my head, is the Larry Vales intro one.
I vote The Dig for most atmospheric & least obtrusive.
I vote FOA's score for simply being the best adventure score, made better thanks to iMuse!
MoodyBlues, glad you like the Poom tunes! Keep an eye out for the deluxe edition, with a brand new soundtrack and of course - the John Wrath theme sounding even better! ;)

Indiana Jones (Maybe that doesn't count, considering it is originally from the movie)
Well if that doesn't count then neither does Loom.
I would say my favorite game soundtracks are Gabriel Knight, Leisure Suit Larry 3, and the Dagger of Amon Ra.
I'm pretty sure that all of FOA's music was original, aside from the main Indy theme. That original music is fantastic, so I have no problem calling it a great soundtrack.
Grim Fandango is probably my favourite, though I'm a big fan of the Dig soundtrack as well. The Monkey Island soundtracks are generally fantastic of course (for my money the music was the only truly great thing about Monkey Island III).
I find on the whole it's hard to go wrong with a Michael Land or Peter McConnel score.
Day of the tentacle, Sam & Max and Monkey Island 2. Awesome stuff.

Monkey Island 2. All of it.
I second that notion... it's incredible how much the music makes the game.
Grim Fandango, and CMI... and MI2 has nice midis.
Oh! And how could we forget "The Ballad of Freddy Pharkus?" ;D
"By the time he reached pubescence, he could outdraw all the adolescents..."
Hmm... let's see.... I'm a sappy girl, so I always liked Girl in the Tower too. You guys will probably think I'm lame, but I wish it was on karaoke, because it would be a fantastic duet to do with my boyfriend. I also liked The song Rosella sang in KQ7... I don't remember the name. I liked the music in the 7th guest, because it was so creepy.
MI theme.
Rob Blanc theme.
many more I can't remember.
QuoteWell if that doesn't count then neither does Loom.
Do you mean there's a "Loom" movie? I want to know more about it!
Longest Journey, Gabriel Knight and Phantasmagoria 1 for me.
The entirety of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge. My favourite music of any game ever. Great layered MIDI scoring that always fits with what's happening in the game beautifully. I think it was quite innovative too, the first use of iMuse.

Heheheh....no, there was no Loom movie. I think Sluggo is referring to Tchiacovski's(I doubt that is the spelling) Swan Lake.
Was all of Loom's music by Tchiacovski? The title music is my favourite from Loom, and though I think it might be by LEC, its more likely the prelude for Swan lake.
That Rob Blanc tune stuck in my head for weeks.
i'm going for Grim Fandango, or Curse OF Monkey Island, both really strong scores.
I love the groovy mood of Largo LaGrande's theme...
... da da da dum - da da da da dum ... (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/aaaamidi2.mid)
;D

Yeah, all of LOOM's musics were from SWAN LAKE, there're no original music in LOOM.
For example, in that PCE CD version of LOOM I have, Lucasfilm games put in some life performing classical soundtracks which played all through the game (as opposed to the PC CD version, which they
had to mix the voice alongside with the music).

The prelude to Swan Lake isn't even in the game. I'm sure nobody really cares, but that music is actually the Intrada to a Pas de Trois in the first act.
Hetchel's theme is The Dance of the Little Swans (act 4)
Crystalgard is the Dance of the four Swans (act 2)
The sheperd music is the pas d'action from act 1
The blacksmith music is the Moderato from the same Pas de Trois as the intro music
The Cathedral music is the Andante Sostenuto from the Pas de Trois again
and the finale music is, guess...the finale.
Quest for Glory IV - Shadows of Darkness. In my opinion, the songs in that game are the best use of midi ever. That soundtrack is still an inspiration for every single song I compose for adventure games.
Ah, shite, that's a hard question... I can't decide on which one I like best, but the soundtracks that I'm particualry fond of are:
Discworld Noir (I mean, come on - Murky and gloomy jazz! Can it get any better?!)
Grim Fandango
Monkey Island II
Gabriel Knight (All of 'em really, but especially 1 & 3.)
Pleurghburg: DA (Sets a good mood. Simple as that.)
Legend of Kyrandia 1,2,3
Beneath a steel sky
King's Quest 6
Blade Runner
Death Gate
Eric The Unready
Gabriel Knight 1
Laura Bow 2
Space Quest 4
Apprentice 1&2
Ben Jordan 2&3
Dead City
Armageddon Margareth
The music from Apprentice 2 and Pleurghburg. Anyone played an AGAST game called "The Breakdown"? It's short and has only one song, but it's catchy and never gets old.

No, not me (http://www.adventuregamers.com/underground/gameinfo.php?id=228).
My vote goes to Rodekill: A day in the life. I still sing "tiny bubbles" sometimes. :)
But for a professional game I like Space Quest 3. I think that games' soundtrack sticks with me because it was the first game I heard on a soundblaster.
whenever words that remotely sound like Tiny Bubbles get said around me I just have to sing "Tiny bubbles!" and then just trail out... because I don't know the rest and people stare...
i'd have to say BASS and The Longest Journey
Kings Quest 7. I love the music that's in the part with the china shop with the bull and the mansion with the upside down rooms. I can't remember the name of that area, but it has stuck with me and i find myself humming or whistling it when i am at work.
Yes, i whistle while i work. My lips have nothing better to do. :)
Loom, Monkey Island 1&2, Gabriel Knight and Simon The Sorcerer all have great music.
I would have to say the Neverhood. :D Yay for Terry Taylor
I would have to agree with Inkoddi. :D
not only is it my favourite adventure game soundtrack, but also one of my favourite albums. Such wacky and awesome music.
Broken Sword (1). Very moody and tranquil.
Monkey Island 3 is the only adventure game where I can really remember being taken in by the music at the time...
I liked the music at the end of DOTT a lot though... Although I cannot remember how it goes.
Monkey island 1, 2 3, and MOST of 4
but my all time fave is... Grim Fendango!
love that swing, and da mehico, and peru stuff is great to!
i some times just play the end credits for the waltz and the panpipes.
"we here ya daddy!' [snaps fingers rearetedly]
There's probably at least one tune in every game I like :P
I do, however, like others in this topic, like the Poom tunes (which are rather hilarious) and the opening theme of BaSS.
Hmmm...
Broken Sword has brilliant music. So does Pleuburg(sp) but my favorite would have to be:
The theme tune from the ORIGINAL Manic Mansion. It's fantastic!Ã, ;D
EDIT: Actually, if I had to give awards:
Best opening tune: MM
Best "song": The one that small dude off Sam N Max sings... Conroy Bumpus, that's the one. ;)
Best background music: Pleuberg's.
Of cource, a special mention to the "Smelly Imp" song sung by the Imp in Discworld 2. Those 3 games in the series (DW 1, DW 2 and DW Noir) are the funniest Adventure games ever. :D
