Was just wondering what everyones opinion is?
From graphics, to story, to difficulty. what AGS game is your favourite.
I chose mine because it was the first game i played on here, it brings back alot of good memories. Wasnt the best graphics in the world, but you could tell it took alot of work and it got better and better.
Not just one game but a series.....can you guess? The one and only Ben Jordan.
Favourite in Series? Case 6: Scourge Of The Sea People. Why? Just had a good feel to it, Enjoyed it the most. Good Puzzles, Good Graphics. Good Game.
Least Favourite? Case 5: Land Of The Rising Dead. Why? Didnt seem to get into it, bit boring, un-inventive graphics, i dunno cant explain....
So what about everyone else? Game and reasons you like it?
Gemini Rue. I like it because it doesn't have Monkey Island jokes and the story is pretty mature. The art is amazing too, so lush and colorful in all the right ways. Cyberpunk has a soft spot in my heart. :)
"The Cat Lady" :).
I tried to explain why in comments here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1628/) and here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=47199.msg634719#msg634719).
I'm really torn between Gemini Rue, Resonance, and King's Quest 2.5. I think I'd have to go for Gemini Rue overall though.
Puzzlebots, The Journey Down (freeware version), A Tale of Two Kingdoms and Heroine's Quest get very honourable mentions!
Alien Time Zone. Short game, but it affected me deeply. It's the Donnie Darko of adventure games.
There is this AGS-made game, which story I really enjoyed: How they found silence (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1198/)
I really liked Sepulchre (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1725/), because after I played it, I felt as if I had read a quality story or a movie.
In the end, my favorite AGS games are Yahtzee's Chzo Mythos games, since they inspired me to actually use AGS. I JUST WANTED TO GO INTO SPAAAACE! :=

Dont get me wrong, your games are frickin amazing. I loved ben jordan all those years ago when i first played them and i still do today, case 5 just seemed to have something missing, and i couldnt put my finger on it. also bravo on case 8. just finished it, love the alternate ending. graphics stunning, came along way since skunk-ape. Couldnt help feeling a little sad, because i know there isnt another one. Then again, i can just play them all over again lol.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed them.
Trust me, I know what you're saying. Case 5 was me trying to do Gabriel Knight in Japan. As a result, it was overambitious and unoriginal and I got tired of it halfway through development, which I think shows in the final game.
So as not to hijack this thread, I'll say my favorite AGS game ever is Richard Longhurst and the Box that Ate Time.
Well true what they say, if your hearts not in it.....but still, the series as a whole is amazing. I'd love to make a game that people love so much.
And now i'll stop talking. Another true thing, women never shut up :-D
Where's M' Hat Ma?
Because there's a hat in it.
I haven't played that many AGS games yet, so my list is rather limited ATM...
But All pigs deserve to burn in hell is currently my favorite!
Even if rather short, it has a great story, simple graphics that do the job and a great atmosphere. I enjoyed it so much, that it will have a definite place in my top favorite adventure games ever! :)
Who doesnt love hats? :-D
An oldie but a simple classic: The Mystery of Haunted Hollow is my favorite.
I don't know why, but I have a soft spot for kids investigating spooky locations. And Haunted Hollow definitely always felt spooky to me.
Other games I love:
Chzo Mythos
Pleurghburg: Dark Ages
Al Gurbish: Nick It and Run
Snakes of Avalon
Eternally Us
The McCarthy Chronicles
Emily Enough
Prodigal
Lost in the Nightmare
Mind's Eye
Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy
Trilby: Art of Theft
1213
Quest For Glory 2 VGA
King's Quest 1-3 VGA
Space Quest 2 VGA
Heroine's Quest
Maniac Mansion Deluxe
Gemini Rue
Primordia
The Cat Lady
The Journey Down: Chapter 1
Ben Jordan series
Blackwell series
Frank the Farmhand 1-2
A Tale of Two Kingdoms
The Samaritan Paradox
Donna: Avenger of Blood
I think the best AGS game I've played this year was Donald Dowell and the Ghost of Barker Manor. My all time favourites are probably Gemini Rue (serious) and Time Gentlemen Please (funny), but there are many close seconds!
Ohh i should have gave nelly cootalot an honourable mention. Was a stunning game, and the leprechauns were the cutest things i've ever seen lol
Seems Gemini Rue is coming out ontop so far!
I love all of the AGS games. Even the joke-games with inside jokes I don't get :-D I like all the games mentioned in this thread and I'd like to add:
Cross Stitch Casper (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1702/) by Daniel Batliner.
Conspirocracy (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1745/) by KodiakBehr.

Mudlarks (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1795/) by shaun9991.
And many others but those I could remember while half awake.
Still very much in love with the Barn Runner series, an absolute must for any fans of comedy and sci-fi. The second part of the first game remains the funniest thing I have ever played.
In terms of commercial games, maybe Resonance or the Samaritan Paradox - both truly excellent games.
There really are too many other great games to list here.
My fave free game would be Heroines Quest, favourite commercial game is Gemini Rue.
But there are so many greats!
All the best ones was already mentioned ;-D

I think the best AGS game I've played this year was Donald Dowell and the Ghost of Barker Manor.
You know what? I was just thinking the exact same thing!
Larry Vales 1 :=
My favorites are:
The Apprentice I and II. For a long time these were the definitive AGS games for me.
Sheep Quest. Loved it. It's just my kind of game.
No Action Jackson. I wish Cerebrit would make another one.
Time Stone. Short but sweet.
I have liked others too, but these are definitely on my top list.
Series:
- The Trilby series. Excellent series in all sorts: graphics, music, storyline.
- Ben Jordan. It gets better as it progresses. A somewhat weak end tho.
- Technobabylon. Very strong in all aspects, although the reach of the game is limited. Nevertheless, it delivers what promises.
- Blackwell series. Again, it gets more ambitious as it progresses; looking forward for its finale.
Single games:
- Cart life. Very innovative. Andrus won my affection almost instantly; sweet little guy.
- Gemini Rue: not a superb story but all aspects sorrounding the plot are great: music, gameplay, artwork.
- McCarthy Chronicles. Do part 2 is out yet? This game would great if so. Surprisingly good for a "part 1".
- All pigs deserve to burn in hell. The Kafka references won me hands down.
A favorite of mine is Cirque de Zale! That was one great game.
There's been so many over the years... this thread reminded me of a lot I hadn't played in sometime, and made me think back a decade or so over the time I've spent playing AGS games. There's been quite a few, when I think about it, that I've enjoyed very much.

Omg i forgot about Cirque de Zale! that was a good one!
Awakener.
:-*
My mind changes from week to week but I'll always love Resonance. I'm calling that my favourite this week.
Although I haven't played a Trilby game for a long time I still remember 5 Days a Stranger very fondly.
My favourite game if the last year or so Conspirocracy.

Playing it right now, brings back good memories, forgot how good it was lol
I don't think "Spooks" has been mentioned yet...
Another great game.
"Nanobots" was also one of my first plays of AGS games. And still one of the best!
My all-time best though would have to be "Donald Dowell and the Ghost Of Barker Manor" :)
All the obvious ones aside I'm going to say: Automation (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/694/)
That is the game that made me stick to AGS basically ;)
Couldn't name one but here are a few of my favorites:
Rode Quest 2: The Sweet Smell of Stenchie (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/183/)
Pleurghburg: Dark Ages (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/35/)
Purity of the Surf (http://www.realityonthenorm.info/game.php?id=132)
RON: Time Out Teaser (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/299/) - I really love this intro!

I don't know why, but I have a soft spot for kids investigating spooky locations.
Then this might be right up your alley:
The Adventures Of The Black Hand Gang (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1743/)
Also: playing The Mystery Of Haunted Hollow right now....It is very entertaining and nostalgic! Having a great time with it!
Larry Vales is still my favorite AGS game. It happened to be my first AGS game, so objectivity is out the window.
Best newer game was Gemini Rue...but so many good games, and I don't take the opportunity to play enough of them.
