Title: FoY Tute
Post by: Miez on Thu 26/06/2003 20:24:36
People have been asking about this for some time, but we've finally overcome the disastrous AdventureDevelopers crash, so the Fountain of Youth website (http://screen7.adventuredevelopers.com/foy/) is back on, and the long promised tutorial is online.

That is some extremely fine work you have there! Very many thanks for sharing your methods with us mortal ones. :)

One question that came to my mind: Do you always try to be as strict with your original sketch? I think that my weakness (one of them) in drawing (not only with pc) is that I don't make the sketch ready enough. When looking at your sketch and the final image it's almost like you had "only" the coloring left to do.

I found this tutorial very interesting and I'll probably be returning into it every now and then. But if one advice from me is allowed: Remember everyone. You don't learn this just by reading, you must experiment a lot!

Good luck with FoY and all and once again thank you. :)

Er, strangely that does seem to happen most of the time. All the "fiddling about" with corners, vanishing points, the size and place of everything is mostly done in the sketch phase. However the sketch is not a rock-solid "law" to me - it just usually turns out that way ...

:) Thanks! and you couldn't be more right: read all the tutorials out there, then ignore them all, and start experimenting. A lot. All the time. Learning these things can only be done by "doing" not merely "reading". :)

That's a great tutorial, I'll follow it later.

With such dedication it seems like FOY is going to be a winner. Great work.

This is a really well done tutorial, Miez.  The information about using photo resources was really helpful. And I like your website, too!

This is just amazing!

Thanks a lot for that great tutorial, I learned a lot of new things just by reading it for the first time.
And more than ever, I'm looking forward to the release of Fountain of Youth.
