Title: Freddy Pharkas remake in the future?
Post by: DBoyWheeler on Mon 09/07/2012 13:19:43
So I showed a longplay of Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist to a friend, and he said that it's a shame there's no remake of it for current and future PC games.  I even mentioned that to Al Lowe himself (I'm on his Cyberjoke 3000 mailing list).

Wouldn't it be great if sometime in the near future there was a remake of FPFP?

I was actually thinking about this yesterday.  Given the success of the LSL1 remake Al Lowe is doing, it's possible there could be an FPFP remake.  Or even they just buy the licence and make a sequel, given the licence hasn't been touched in almost 20 years.

Does it need to be remade? Just get it running on modern machines and put it up on GOG.com.

Well did LSL1 need to be remade a second time?  Although I guess FPFP at least already had a voice version, so it was more like what you'd expect from a modern adventure game.

No.

Oh, I can run it fine. I meant in order to make it a commercially viable title again.

I think the game is actually good the way it is right now. How much improvement would a remake really do for this game? Unless you wanted to add more content and changes, some better voice acting, etc... Just seems like its not a viable commercial option.

I'd like to see a sequel to it but then there was Fennimore Filmore #1 which reminded me a lot of a Freddy Pharkas sequel, especially if Freddy went ahead and became a lawman.
