Hi all, I'm pleased to announce my very own little contrribution to the AGS-community: several Gigabytes of storage space on my FTP-server: ftp://77.163.184.124 EDIT: IP address has changed: it's now ftp://195.241.178.132 I'm also trying to get the hostname ftp://ooijer.serveftp.com up and going again, but I'm having problems with No-Ip.
Note that this FTP-serversi running on my NAS (Network Attached Storage device) is running in my own home, so chances are that I'll power it down sometimes (though I try to keep it running for long periods of time). Oh, also, I'll change ISP in November, so my IP-address will change then. I'll let you all know.
Note that you'll see 2 directories when loggin in: AGS And upload. Upload and AGS. both are RW-access. (I thought about setting AGS to RO but changed that. So please upload straight into the AGS-directory and ignore upload if at all possible (that's just a legacy-dri, actually). Now, even though I have enough space free now, I do reserve the right to free up more when space becomes scarce, so do yourself a favor and keep backups, this space is only for sharing, not backing up (even though I do use a RAID-5 cluster of disks), I use it as a backup device for my own, personal data
Oh, and tryo to use this only for distributing AGS-games, (or maybe a Ben Jordan-movie or somesuch) don't post any "BJ in the girls dorm"kind of movies please, also, please keep things legal-ish I don't want to get in any kind of trouble, y'all hear?
Oh, and also, pretty please, try not to slurp up all my bandwith all day(s) long or whatever.Summary: Please be kind.  :)

Having said all this: here's a summary of the details:

ftp://77.163.184.124 ftp://195.241.178.132 (I tried setting up a domain name but for some reason, this doesn't work any more - used to though, keep trying ftp://ooijer.serveftp.com)
UID: ags
Password: ags
(Login required both for up- and download)
Send me a message when you've uploaded a game there, I'll put it in the HTTP-directory so it can be downloaded from home.ooijer.com without cumbersome log-in)
There's a 1GB quota set for this user, I don't know if this is for both up- and download, but keep in mind, for most games this should be no problem)

Oh, also note, that I haven't setup the HTTP-server as I'D like it (as in: with access to the FTP-uploads), so you'll have to use the FTP-site for both up- and download.
The server's been offline for a while due to anISP-change but it'ds back now.

I'll have to cancel this offer for the time being- I'm fighting my routers to get that cursed port forwarding to work - I'll keep you all posted when it's OK again!

Update! I've now set and verified this domain name to work: ftp://ooijer.serveftp.com, so no need to depend on the IP-address anymore. (all other comments still apply)

That's a very generous offer, Dutch!  I'm sure there are a lot of people who will make use of your ftp.  Uploading the RoN games there would be a great start.

You can also use http://coolbluefiles.net/ags1hour/ for your AGS games (despite its name, this host is not limited with Onehour participations).

Server:      ftp.coolbluefiles.net
Account:    ags1hour
Password: TheLost1

A "yourfile.rar" will be linked as http://coolbluefiles.net/ags1hour/yourfile.zip

I own and run http://shutupload.com, which people are also more than welcome to use for their games. Unlimited bandwidth and 1GB storage per file. Since it's not a huge operation, I can afford to have no limits on anything at the moment. :)
Status: Trying to come up with some ideas...

Isn't there a way to host the games that were on bicyclesforblahblah server on one of the servers mentioned in this post, since a lot of game links in the database which were on that server are now dead?
I can provide a total list of games that used to be on the bicyclesforblahblah server.
Just an idea. ;)

All games will eventually be added to the AGS Archives Arj0n! :).
I hope to get the system up and running soon so people can register to add their own games aswell.

I can provide the total contents of that server.... except not on that server :-)
Unless the owner wants to transfer the domain name... but then again....

I still keep saying that the links in the database should be administered by a moderator and not by the game maker. Or, if they don't want to provide/support their game, just remove them from the database. If you have an administrator doing it for them, you don't have any problems at all.

Sigh... I think I've made this statement before... but apparently I'm alone in this.  :-\

I agree with Leon, and that's a valid point there. If one reports the link isn't working I think the text saying the link has been reported as dead, can't be removed then. Also for the love of God,do allow remove game entry button. For liberty's sake. Example I want to release HHGTG, why have the demo on my profile? I'm telling you when the game is ready there's going to be a -deleted game- game entry page.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Leon, you do have a good point there.

Nope, I agree. In fact, I don't think it would be taking too much of a leap for the ratings panel to have this authority.

Only CJ has the power to delete game entries at the moment, because (I think) the database is directly tied to the AGS site - not the forums - and only he can access the source/html/php/shenanigans as far as that's concerned.

Though, seeing as an overhaul of the site is on the cards anyway, maybe the two could be separated.

That would be awesome, no more dead links ;)
