Does anyone else but me remember the game 'Futurewars' aka 'Time travelers' ? If so, would anyone like to play a game based on such idea if I would make one? (Not a remake or a sequal, or not even the same story, but allmoust the same concept)
Yeah....I remember future wars. The intro showed some weird laser fight and then you started the game as a window cleaner....? It was a long while ago. Sure, I would play a game like that. I am sure no one will have any objections at this stage. You will have to show some of your stuff before people start screaming about how you are "desecrating such a great concept" ;D
This guy won't start as a window cleaner but it will be some kind of timecop/futurewars theme sort of. The caracter is working for Correct Future Agency (CFA) and is given missions in diferent times to make sure that the future will be the 'right future' or something. Some missions might just be to make sure two persons meet, and other missions might be long puzzels to prevent disasters...
I loved future wars. I would love to see a game similar to it.
Your story does sound more like TimeCop though. But its good either way. I 'd play it.

Future Wars has nothing on Future Conflict http://www.sylpher.com/dosuser/fc.htm
I'd say "gimmegimmegimme"! It's a wonderful concept, that can be explored in over many thousands of ways. As a matter of fact, when you stop and think about it, it's amazing how very few games this far have explored it.
You should pull a BTTF effect... you start at moment X, then do something in the past at moment Y, then return. And moment X has changed! I believe Legend has a game with this setting but I haven't really played it so I don't know how well they handled it.
All I need now are two names: The name of the game and the name of the agency...
Both 'FutureQuest' and 'TimeQuest' are existing games, so what will I call my game?
And then the agency...
WFA (World Future Agency) or some other 3-word combination like that...
suggestions?
Wow, that C&C clone Chris made looks pretty cool.
As for a name for the game, how about:
"Future's End" (Voyager episode name)
"Out Of Time" (also new Denzel movie)
"Once Upon A Time" (classic reference)
"Status Quo" (as in keeping things in the same condition)
"Timeline"
"Intervention"
And for the agency a combination of 2 or more of the following words:
1st word:
International
National
United Nations
Federal
Central
2nd word:
Temporal
Time
Timeline
Historical
3rd word:
Corrections
Intervention
Security
Policing
Protection
Integrity
Preservation
4th word:
Facility
Agency
Bureau
Police
Center
Corporation (like OCP from Robocop)
Examples:
United Nations Agency for Timeline Intervention (UNATI)
Temporal Corrections Center (TCC)
Intl. Facility for Historical Integrity (IFHI)
Great Ideas DYDO. I'll think about it, but this is hard...
Game Name Suggestions:
-Timeshift
-Anachronism
-Shattered Time
-Timeless
-Stopwatch
-Precious Little Time
-Ad Nauseum
-Encore!
-Take Two...
-Do-Over
-Re-Write
-Best Out of Infinity
They may be crap, but that's all I got.
The name of the game...
'Once upon a time there was a future' sounds special somehow, but maybee that's a little to long. Or 'Another Future' But 'Status Quo' sounds tempting too... *dilemma*
And for the agency... damn, that's hard...
I like Ozwalled's 'Timeless"
Thought of:
"A Time Odyssey" (keeping in spirit with your avatar)
"Time And Again"
"Alternatives"
"Cause And Effect"
And:
Temporal Law Enforcement Agency (TLEA)

Temporal Law Enforcement Agency (TLEA)
Sweet fancy Moses! If you could add an "F" at the end of that, it could be T-LEAF (as in, those things that people used for divination).
Just a thought.
As a CS major I can't help but appreciate good TLAs (okay, DETLAs) as that.
How about -Force?
I have now allmost decided to call the agency one of following names:
PUTA (Past- and Upcoming Times Agency)
I have no idea what that word means in Spaninsh ::)
FATE (Fedral Agency for Time Emendation)
ATM (Agency for Time Modification)
TMA (Time Modification Agency)
Which one do you prefere?
hehe go with PUTA and make sure all the characters are Spanish

But seriously...
I like F.A.T.E. a lot. One thing though, emendation (had to look it up) is altering with the intent of improvement. This would go against the idea of an agency founded to preserve history as it is (that was the idea, right?). In that case just find another E-word. Fate has a nice relevance to the story and sounds pretty good too!
Federal Agency for Time E.....?

Is that what emendation means? Seriously, I didn't know that. I found it in my thesaurus when I searched for synonyms for changing and altering. But altering with the intent to improve is rater good, so I think that I will keep it the way it is.. .
(I now have to change the story, but that's not so hard since I do not have a story yet)
Personally I think you should call it the:
World Temporal Fallacy Organization (WTFO)
but I don't count...
/me goes back in time to change his post.
Another name for the game could be "Alternate Endings", if you're still looking...
Yes, I am still looking for a name for the game. The agency will be called F.A.T.E. (Fedral Agency for Time Emendation) But for the game I have not yet desided. The game will have lots of 'missions' that the character must fullfill, and inbetween those missions I am planning to add some kind of 'social life' for the character at the base, to get a authentic touch and being able to add some humor between the 'serious missions'...
But, like I said before; I dunno...
I don't have a game name, but I think all organisations in AGS games should be A.G.S., so: "Agency Guarding Spacetime". :P
