I just found out about this, do people know about it? A way to play Gabe Knight 1 on XP WINDOWS, not DOSBox or VDMSound or some emulator!

I tested it, and it works great!
The floppt version of GK1 works just fine without anything.
However, the non-interlacing patch for GK2 is worth downloading.
Heh. Who would play the floppy version of Gabe Knight? I couldn't play it without the voices!
Whoever cannot find it, for example.
Find it? But isn't it easier to either EMule, KaZaa or EBay for the CD-ROM version than the floppy?
Well I have both versions, and frankly I prefer the floppy version. For the first playthrough, voices might help the atmosphere, but the game is so talky that I'd fall asleep if I'd have to listen to all the lines being read out loud (especially in Michael Dorn's droning voice). It isn't TLJ, but it's damn close - and this is coming from a guy who loves the GK games enough to rip them off for his own game.
Heh. Matter of opinion, I guess. I love all that talking, because it's so finely written and so finely acted.
And the music rocks by all means. Pity it's MIDI, though - would have sounded so well in digital audio.
Look for WinGroove. You can use that to play MIDI with digital quality, and can install it as a driver. ;)
Well that's surely better than general midi, but still not quite what the soundtrack of Gabriel Knight - sins of the Fathers can be.
Agreed... <sigh> The GK1 soundtrack with the quality of GK2's sound would indeed be a wonder.
The third one, rather. The bitrate of GK2's soundtrack was 64Kbps as far as I remember.
I wouldn't know that, but I do know that the soundtrack CD I had had pretty good quality.
