ok, to start with i havn't played maniac mansion ( iknow, shame, shame on me) or at least i don't think so, from the way people talk about it, im starting to think it's the sae thing as Day of the tentacle, is it? ???

Fuzzpilz

No, Day of the Tentacle is what you'd call a sequel. There's a place in DOTT where you can play the original Maniac Mansion, though.

Although Day of the Tentacle is a sequel of Maniac Mansion, they're two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT games. Maniac Mansion allows death, walking deads, multiple ways to solve puzzles, etc. Maniac Mansion was designed by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick.

Day of the Tentacle was made a few years later, and the graphics were infinitely better. It was a lot different, from the humour and style to the fact that there were voices and better animation/graphics and music. It was designed by Tim Schafer and Dave Gilbert. There were no walking deads and no ways you could die.

The only thing that remained the same throughout both games was the fact that they were set in the same mansion and shared the character 'Bernard' and also the tentacles.

In case you're interested, a television show was made based on Maniac Mansion, and it ran for two seasons from 1990 - 1992. It starred the Edison Family, and I'm not sure if Bernard or the others were in it.

Yes, er... Dave Grossman.

I always, always make that mistake. I mean, Dave Grossman, Ron Gilbert... Ron Grossman, Dave Gilbert...

I feel honoured, and yet somehow stupid at the same time.

I'm glad they made Bernard the only character from the first one to be playable again... if it had Dave in it, I'd probably have him do something stupid, hoping he'd be able to get caught somehow so that if you ever ended up in a dungeon, he could press the loose brick. :P

Meowster

...There's a loose brick in there?

I'm pretty sure the king of Sweden said the same thing when he was told he was gonna be the king.
