Just for the record, The Marionette is far from lost in time. I've just been working on it feverishly over the past two days after getting sick and staying home from work. I just didn't want to put up any more screenshots or updates untill I'm almost done.
I couldn't work as much on it as I'd hope due to marriage and moving house. That and the fact that Team Effigy has been whittled down to me, one musician and a couple of advisors.
On my side, I'm totally waiting for Robots of Dawn, The Trinity and Resonance.
(side note: is this thread asking for updates on these games, or just a list of "games I'm (still) waiting for" sort of thing?)
DO NOT POST IN THOSE THREADS
IF THEY ARE OVER 90 DAYS INACTIVE!!
If you have interest in the progress of these games please PM the author of them rather then bumping them.
There ... that's out of the way.
There are a lot of games in production that I'm lookin forward to. The sad truth is (and I've learned this from bitter experience) that most of the games will never see the light of day! However, one can hope!
For the record, Troopers is still actively in development. I'm working on a new layout for the GUI (take a look over here (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=7062.msg81717#msg81717) for some screenshots), I'm working on my A*-pathfinding skills in C++ currently in order to later add them to the AGS project and I'm always working on the GFX and, of course, the design of the two races and their units and buildings. Especially the last part is a hard bit of work, but I have it almost down now. Won't post my stuff yet, though, as it gives away all units and their functions and stuff and I want to keep that a secret because discovering all this is pretty much the game's objective.
Thanks for the interest!
Quset? Sounds Egyptian.
Q2EAQ is totally still in production, we just slowed it so we could do Damsel, which will be released within the next several days. Thanks for the mention, though! :)
For "The Eye of Geltz" just check out the first post of the production thread, it is regularly updated and far from abandoned ;)
How about "Kinky Island?" I'm not going to lie, I really liked that demo, and not just because there was a tit-shaped mountain.
I could add more,like DITA..
Thanks for remembering Prototypical!
It will be finished someday. It has been held up for a long time due to business, laziness, lack of motivation and my co-creator's presense in Iraq, but work is still being done here and there. It will not be abandoned.
I get the feeling that Gift of Aldora is no more. Blame Kinoko...she's here to take it atm :D
Thanks for mentioning my lil' ol' game! :)
Yes, perhaps it was bad luck to call my game Limbo and then have it literally lost in limbo..
I haven't abandoned it. But nor have I touched it this year. Lets say, it's on a hiatus. I'm learning to play guitar, and play some games, plus my full time job, so sadly Limbo has been put aside until I have more free time to commit to it.

Back in production. No thread... YET. ;D
Oh! And how could I forget - Downfall (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=32160.0). Made quite an impression on me.
i'm still eagerly awaiting Just Another Point 'N' Click Adventure 2, and a new Rode Kill game...
I'd love another Rode Kill game. Let's hope shawn reads our hypnotic posts and makes us another Rode Kill game. Yeah, that would be nice...
On topic, the best thing to do is not announce games until they are pretty much ready, that way, you don't have people saying oh why isn't (this title) finished yet, when is it coming out...
Don't post, and don't disappoint. :)
That's my philosophy. I'm not rushing anything. There may not even be a GIP thread until it's nearly done. ;)
Don't know about you guys, but I've been waiting for the arrival of Rise of the Hidden Sun (http://www.rattlesnakejake.com/index.htm) since I came to AGS, but it has been vapourware since it went into production SIX BLOODY YEARS AGO!!!! Remaining to this day, lost in the mists of time.
*Nostalgia mode on*
Being a colossal fan of games such as Monkey Island (okay, so I wasn't old enough to experience the games when they first came out, but my brother was, and when I got a chance to crack at the Monkey Island series I was hooked), I enjoyed looking the games up on the interweb (still do, to this day). Perusing through the google results for 'Monkey Island Easter Eggs', I found articles on adventuregamers.com (http://adventuregamers.com) About Rise of the hidden sun. Those articles lead me here. So really, I have Rise of the hidden sun to thank for pairing me with AGS. This was about one-and-a-half years ago, and for a while after finding ROTHS, I realised- this is the Duke nukem Forever of Adventure gaming. Monkey Island 5 is going to come out before this. However, This article (http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,897) written not long ago, confirms that the game is still moving. But, no release date in sight. I'm dissapointed that the game that brought me to AGS is probably never going to be played.

:'(
I LOVED the demo of Prototypical. Have been waiting for that one for the longest time.
Glad to hear that it's not been abandoned.
Hero/6, anyone?
To be fair to some of us, sometimes the GiP thread is all the motivation we have to continue working on our games. I seriously doubt I'd still be working on this game two years on if I were only doing it for myself. I wouldn't have the confidence (first game, after all) nor the external push that "I have to finish this because people are waiting for it!"
Then, too, because people tend to keep dropping out of amateur teams which are working for free, we need that publicity to recruit new members. Look at the Recruit a Team thread: how many promising-looking games are there that never get the scriptor/musician/artist they're looking for because no one knows anything about their game? I now have an excellent person on my team to beta-test every new section of the game I come up with and to advise me on the puzzles, but I didn't find her - she found me, largely through the publicity that The Marionette got here.
Of course I know that for every game that gets completed due to the support of the community here, dozens more fall by the wayside. I guess I just wanted to point out that there's a reason why people still keep posting GiP threads early on in the development of their game.
Well I have been waiting for "The Forgotten Element" but I haven't been here very long so I don't know most of the games on that list anyway lol ;)

Yes! Hero6, perhaps the oldest adventure game project never to be finished as of yet. How long's it been, 9 years now, and not finished yet? Sounds kinda like my game. ;) (6 years in the making.)
I waiting to see if there will be an update on these two:
Nataly Buchannon and the Amulet Of Kings
Indiana Jones and The Crown Of Solomon(site hasn't been paid for-so hopefully it won't be lost)
You might also want to look in this thread:

Well Makeout, guess what. KI is in full swing now. GiP thread coming up soon, you will be playing it before long :) Cheers
Amazing just one game off that list :P
Why oh why god was this resurrected ??? ::)
Because m0ds wanted to plug Kinky Island, of course! :P
I'm personally anticipating A Night At Camp Ravenwood. The guy working on that looks like a right genius and all that.
Wretcher (my #1)
Space Quest 2 VGA
The Journey of Iesir
Night of the Meteor
Draculator II
Timeless Journey
My Burden To Keep
Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth (Where is it Mark? WHERE!?)
Rise of the Hidden Sun
The Forgotten Element
Legend of the Lost Lagoon (If there was any project I would take on and finish for someone so it would be done, it's this)
Ben Jordan Case 8
The Legend of Leitor's Edge
Primordia
Venator
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Legend of Leitor's Edge... (Now that I'm not taking up all of Snake's time.)
Also, Wretcher. I loved the original "Clock Tower" game and wretcher looks like it will have what Clock Tower did plus actual character's and non-incredibly-predictable plot development.

Very true my man ;) I urge people to search the forums for their projects. It can be quite motivational!
And OSD is getting far too much airtime :=
QuoteIndiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth (Where is it Mark? WHERE!?)
My bum :P But thanks Fawful for the
constructive reply!!! 8)
PS Ryan no! I will play OSD Road Racer but nothing else. ;D
Hmmm. You'd think you of all people, being quite active on the pot, you'd think that OSD would be right up your alley. I guess not.
Hey, leave marky-mark's 'addiction' out of this. So what if it helps him to see aliens...speaking of which, where the hell is my UFO WATCH!?
Also, Forgotten Element. Wow, that game must be buried under a pile of boob animations by now.
Speaking of OSD, I'm most looking forward to ProgZ's "Starfukked!: An Oceanspirit Dennis Tale"
I'm also intrigued at the thought of an OSD racing game... :=

I can't help but feel that was a hint sent in my direction... Hmmm.. lol
Edit: Oh silly me. Of course it was directed at me. I didn't catch Mod's edit after I had posted my post. Maybe I WILL make an OSD racing game.
From the Wretcher demo I played a while back, it looks like it will be *much* more intense than clock tower, which I am very much looking forward to.

Sometimes, that's all you need. All you really need. ^__^
That's what dingleberries cling to.

Ahh, some man-to-man non-gay lovin'! :D
You guys, this is for you... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtfQg4KkR88)
Ooh, boy. Space Quest II - we've been working on that beastie for over five years! We started out really fast and strong, and got a lot of it done very quickly. Then life happened - some people got jobs and didn't have the time, some people got cancer, others had to go on dialysis.....haha..... several of us got married.... you know, life happened. Production slowed to a crawl - little bits here and there.
In the past year, we've continued to crawl to the finish - recording the narrator has taken the longest, because there's so many interactions. (We kept the taste and smell icons. They're tons of fun.) Most of us at IA just want to be DONE with it and get it out the door and let people enjoy it. I really can't wait to share this game with the community. A lot of work and talent went into this, and we're just making sure we do it right and release it as bug-free as possible.
It's coming, and hopefully soon. We've only got a little more audio editing to do, a few bugs to squash, and we recently re-did and overhauled the mines section of the game.
Then it's on to finishing "Kingdom of Sorrow", our other Sierra Tribute game. Sigh. I wish I had more time (and money!) to work on these games, because I love it. But, alas, it IS a hobby and other things take up my time. I promise it'll be released, though.

KOS is definitely high up on my list!
For god's sake, Dual, remove Robots of Dawn and it's : 1 animation, 4 backgrounds, 2 one-frame character, and 2 speech vignettes. This "game" is not even suppose to be allowed in GIP thread.

That's quite an amazing production. I'll leave it there. FOREVER is not such a long time to wait, you know. :D
Seriously though, I'd be surprised if 2-3 of these games are actually ever completed. Pleasantly surprised! Notice they are pretty much all the most ambitious games in terms of freeware conditions.
I'm glad that I'm not involved in any development hell games that people constantly bring up with lust in their eyes. It must be pretty nagging to see people mention your games and really have nothing to say to them except 'maybe it'll happen' over and over, but then I hate to set people up for disappointment. That's why I don't really do the whole GiP thing ;|.
I swear to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I'm still working on By the Sword (http://www.btsgame.com/), albeit at a snail's pace.
I yearn for the sequel to Star Trek: Newton Anomaly :'(
