Just a quick question:

Has anyone played Harvester, and what was it like? :)

I think it's brilliant, utter schlock and bad acting, but still brilliant. I even liked the ending(s) which most people hate.

It's like David Lynch and Roger Corman got together over a few bottles of moonshine and then gave their script to the people who made Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Edit: If you like Grim's games, Downfall in particular, I think you might enjoy Harvester.

I played it very long time ago and I remember it being extremely gory and bizzare but in a cult-classic-Troma way. :)

This. It's extremely bizarre and campy, with hilariously over-the-top characters, but the story and (especially) the gameplay are somewhat lacking (even though it's not nearly as bad as other FMV adventures of the same period). Still, it may be worth playing for the setting alone and to guess which kind of dope the developers were smoking while making this stuff :cheesy:

I mean, given that the game features, among other things,

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD

- a fanatic sergeant with his whole lower body missing who kills you as soon as you talk about anything even slightly related to communism
- a woman who looks normal, but then you discover she's part human and part... wasp!
- a bunch of zombie kids eating the corpse of their own mother
- a sheriff whom you can corrupt with a porn magazine to escape from jail

/SPOILERS

it must have been really good stuff

Haha great! One of the reasons I am keen to try it out is that I am busy researching as many FMV adventures before I start production of my own:) any other ones ypu would recommend? Besides GK2?

Phantasmagoria, Tex Murphy games, Ripper, Toonstruck, Black Dahlia and maybe also The X-files game.

Definately the Tex Murphy series, as Gribbler said - Pandora Directive in particular is a timeless masterpiece. There was also a horror FMV adventure I liked a lot: Amber - Journeys Beyond.

For those not informed, Harvester is part of the Humble Weekly Bundle if you pay $5 or more. Also you get 7th Guest (and for a bit more, also 11th Hour) which isn't much of an adventure but fairly FMV. (imho it would be worth the price just for I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream).
