Title: Hit the books!
Post by: cpage on Sat 29/11/2003 22:37:22
Well i'm not sure if this has been posted before but, Al Lowe has released design documentation for 6 of his games!
I thought you guys, being adventure creaters yourselves, might be able to use them as a reference for your own games.

It's a great resource.
It's the first time I see real design documentation. Very useful, because it is not just theory, real games were made using this documents.

That's rather cool, it's interesting to see how a real world game design document looks. Good of Al Lowe to release them like this.

Interesting how he has to write the same several times in one document. They're quite lengthy and I think they must've been a bit boring to write.

Also note that all the necessary animations are mentioned and even flags. Apparently, after giving such a document to a team, the designer can relax in a jaccuzi - unless he has to check whether graphic slaves have appropriate vision.

Funny: in the ending sections (LSL5) he wonders whether some things are technically possible, whereas they're a piece of cake for AGS! Puma is better tahn Sierrah!!1
