What kind of workday do you spend working on your game etc..
I spend almost 5 to 6 hours a day everyday working on my game but being I'm retire I can do that were most can't .

The games that I FINISHED were all done within a week.

I work on ags games when I should do some real schoolwork, but AGS is just so much fun.

Ishmael

I do it when I feel like it. It's been from several hours a day to just a little tweak in the code now and then... pretty random for me.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

It varies.  I'm a 9-5 workday guy, and I usually have the time in the evenings to futz with AGS.  Many other factors affect how much time I am willing to spend on games, though.  Things like the weather, my social schedule, family obligations, whether-or-not I'm dating someone at the moment or even just plain lack of interest can put a crimp in game making.

I use to spend the entire day working on my game when I was unemployed, and before I started traveling for work I would work at least a few hours a day, but these days I'm lucky if I can spend a few hours a week on it.

Candle

Just spent three hours on a sprite and still not done .
When I get tired I just sit back and watch the TV or listen to some music and get my mind off of it .
I know when I get this done it will be a while before the next one . lol

Usually only 2 hours everyday. When we worked on Apprentice 2 it was varied. Sometimes I didn't get any work done, and other days I would work the entire afternoon. If you can focus really well, you could probably only have to work 1 or 2 hours a day and get lots of progress on the game.

I've been working a lot in the last few days, spending probably too much time on one background :P

Hmm, how long do I spend on my AGS game? It depends if I'm in the mood.

A few weeks ago, I was spending quite a lot of time on my Hansel and Gretel game (like an hour daily), but lately I've lost most of my enthusiasm for it. It's mostly because there are a quite a bit of forest scenes in the game, and since I hate drawing foliage, I dread working on the backgrounds and therefore take longer to finish them.

And sometimes when I do feel like working on my game, I'll be busy doing other things, such as going out with friends, practising archery, or studying for school.

At this rate, my game won't be finished any time soon... or perhaps ever. -_-;

All about motivation. See, when I'm motivated (Such as working on "Two of a Kind"), I can work for hours on end. I once spend 6-7 hours working on a single animation, then worked on some music after that.

Sometimes though, I dread working on my game. Especially walk-cycles. I detest walkcycles. Yet last night I sat down and worked on a pixel-art portrait of my girlfriend for 3 hours, and that has nothing to do with my game.

So meh, it all depends on motivation.
I make music.

All that matters is your having fun doing what you are doing :)

For my part it mostly depends. I don't actually spend a certain amount of time on AGS-game making because of the course work for my Writer's course, my own work and having fun (playing video games, watching DVD etc.). It can be from no time at all to a couple of hours.

Phemar

I used to spend the majority of my day with AGS... But then i lost enthusiasm and I haven't been working on my game at all for the past few weeks.

(and I blame the release of doom3, half-life 2 and larry 8)

Timosity

at one stage last year I worked 10-12 hours a day for about 9 months, with days off here and there, and I worked part-time. I learned a lot and got a lot done. but it takes it's toll, and I'm still waiting for that burst of energy to get back into it.

I'm still working on that same project (well really it's having a slight break, but my real work these days is pretty full on.) it's still 85% complete and quite a major project if anyone actually remembers what it is.

I don't recommend working that hard on anything

?

Anyway, as for the topic, it varies for me aswell, this weekend I was online almost all the time working on a story, and after that taking a rest. It all depends on whats going on at school also, if we have any big tests and such.

When I could, I spent few hours a day on my game. Now I'm not at home - went to study and have major problems with computer. I can work only when my sister lends me her laptop (not often). And I'm paying internet by hour - now too.
Because I'm having a major break in my game I started to invent a story for another one which I want to be quite long.

Its only in the night I have a chance to work on my game. I can manage about a hour three nights a week just before bed. It's something for me to do when i'm not tired. Otherwise I would be the spending time lying down gazing into my ceiling.

Isegrim

Sometimes several hours a day for one or two weeks but most of the time I am so tired from work and/or Uni that I can't be creative (or I am just too plain lazy ;))
Overall, much too less time!
