It seems all the medium-length game dowload links are down.Ã,  I've tried downloading about five so far.  It says NOT FOUND or FORBIDDEN almost every time

scotch

They are all hosted on different servers, so it's up to the game authors to maintain working links. Unfortunately since most people use unstable free hosting a lot of the games are down - you were just unlucky to get 5 in a row. You may be able to find the game on http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/ otherwise you'd ahve to ask around.

Incidently, while we're on the subject - I've had this happen with games on (something)/agsuploads, or something. Which I think was the service provided by Jake and AGA? A game in question is, I believe "A Day With Michael". I get told I am not allowed access - 403, forbidden. If this were a private link and so on, I'd PM the author, but...

Dunno what's up with that, but files uploaded through the old web uploads service weren't publically accessable, they are now.

Just as a thought: Maybe CJ should place a 3rd link on the games page to the file on Bicycle for Slugs.

It will help a lot of people.

If anyone feels like volunteering to go through all 667 games and do that, they'd be welcome!

Well for everyone who's got a game uploaded should have their username stored, and from their username the forum can obviously determine their email address. Perhaps a mass PM or email to those 667 game makers to double check their download is still available? I certainly wouldn't mind an email like that once a year or so just to remind me.

Why not just have a continuous link at the top of each page at the game database that links to the Bicycles For SLugs thing?
I'm composing the music for this game:

I could give it a shot...

...if we can come to an arrangement with a little something in return :=
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

i could reinstall the torrent thing within a day or so and either use the rss for getting the games or give you some code that tells our server to get a new game if there's one added, cj.
this would create a stable thing after a while, like aafiles. just automatically updating itself and creating descriptions etc :)

too bad it wasn't used much so it went down when we switched servers :P
... it's quite easy being the best.

I used it ¬¬

And a torrent way to download games off the games page/the torrent page would be quite r0x, in my opinion. Nowadays I rarely get around to playing anything, and that's because I'd need to run around the games page downloading stuff the old fashion way...

There's no point in a torrent system when aafiles doesn't have traffic problems.  All we need is for it to get updated with all the games that are released, and to store the actual game name along with the file so people can search for games properly.
